By the age of eight, he was sworn in with a band of brothers. A tightly bound trio that unleashed hell in the slums of Grey Terminal. By the age of nine, he knew grief no child his age should suffer. He cried and wailed as the number of brothers fell to two. Sabo was gone and there was nothing he could do about it. So for a time, he broke down and cried like the child he was. His suffering and sadness fueled a fire in his heart and when he rose to his feet, he swore to grow stronger.
His elder brother stood with him, and together they stormed the terminal. By the time they were done. The terminal had a swath of destruction torn clear through, and the name ‘Sabo’ was carved into the Kingdom’s mighty gate.
The years passed and the island was shaken by the extraordinary strength of the young, growing boy. He had shattered bandit camps, torn apart pirate bands, and made their leaders bow their heads in defeat.
He and his brother were a pair of demons in the underworld of the Goa Kingdom. When Grey Terminal was burned, the garbage was cleared, but the trash remained. The brothers made it their mission to clean that up too. Forcing even the most notorious gangs and crews out of their home.
Soon enough, the scum started to scatter. Either broken apart by the demon children, or fleeing in fear of the horror stories told. The island was cleaned up, and it was peaceful.
Word spread.
The trash-covered junk town that neighbored the Goa Kingdom had disappeared.
While the trash was gone, rumors spread of a greater evil taking its place. A pair of boys that fought and destroyed like a couple of demons. It was as if the Devil himself had a pair of sons.
Years passed like that. Rumors and word of mouth kept most of the rabble away, and while the ‘demon brothers’ had a few brave souls come to kick up a fuss in their territory but they were swiftly stricken down.
At the age of fifteen he was alone again. Rumor spread quickly that the eldest brother had set out to sea, but any new threats that appeared to try and take his place were quickly culled. The youngest brother was strong now, and he made sure they knew it.
Now eighteen, he was already notorious, his name reached across the sea, even if he didn’t know it yet.
He now stood tall, a respectable six feet. His body was impressively maintained. With hard, strong muscles from a life of desperate training and struggle. His form was sleek and streamlined. Her expression morphed into a mixture of utter confusion and curiosity. She raised a single, elegant arm, and her Kuja responded. Instantly a line was formed along the railing of the Perfume Yuda. A dozen strong and beautiful Amazons stood at the ready. In unison they readied their snake-bows, pointing them at the group of gathered men. With haki-infused arrows that promised death and terrifying snakes bearing venomous fangs pointed at them, the men all had their trance broken for a moment as they all shuffled back from the dock.
She stepped between a gap in the Kuja women, where a long plank had already been dropped, and a red carpet rolled out. She stepped up to the plank, a pair of Kuja flanking her on either side, and started to make her way down the steps. Her women followed behind her in a pair of lines, pointing weapons and promising pain to any man that got too close.
As she walked upon the dock, the group of gathered men parted like a split sea. She walked through them, and felt something start to bubble up in her chest. A nervous apprehension that she hadn’t felt in years. It made her feel vulnerable, but she put on a strong face.

“Luffy~!” He turned his head as he heard a familiar voice.
His bright smile lit up the faces of every woman around him, including, “Makino!”

“Do you know what’s going on Makino?” He asked.
She nearly jumped on the spot, barely catching his words as she stared a little too long at his body. She tucked her stray hair behind her ear and smiled bashfully. Despite being a decade older, in front of him she might as well be a young maiden, “U-Um… A Pirate Crew just arrived, Luffy.”
His expression turned neutral as he looked down the docks at the massive red sail, “Pirates huh? Well don’t worry, I’ll go take a look.”
“O-Okay… Be careful! They haven’t done anything yet but…”
He smiled back at her, “I’ll be fine Makino, just wait here okay?”
Her breath hitched in her throat at his enchanting smile, her eyes were dazed and she barely managed to mutter a soft, “Yes…” As he strode down the street.
He approached the crowd, grabbing and pulling men out of his way as he walked through them.
“H-Hey watch it-?! Luffy! I’m sorry, please go ahead.”
And with just his name spoken once, the spell that had entranced the men around him was broken for just a moment as they let him pass. He noticed the odd, love-struck expressions of his fellow villagers and walked with narrow eyes.
Then, the crowd started to part in front of him. This time, not because of him.
As men hurriedly moved to the side, he got his first glimpse of the massive Pirate Ship… and his first glimpse of her.
Monkey D. Luffy and Boa Hancock stood face to face for the first time.
It was as if time seemed to stop around the. They met with shocked expressions and wide eyes. All around them, the jeers of the crowd, the noise of the village, the sound of the ocean. It all faded away. It was just the two of them there.

He nodded and she took his hand again, leading him up a large set of stairs. He admired the style of her ship. It was huge, like a palace, and the whole boat was pulled by a pair of giant serpents.
She opened a wide set of doors for him, and he stepped into an impressive room. It was huge and richly decorated with furs and skins of giant beasts. In the center of the room was a massive white bed, with pink pillows and expensive drapes tied to four posters. The whole room smelled sweet and inviting, like the goddess beside him.
On the bed, coiled upon itself, was a huge snake. Hancock approached it fearlessly, and raised a slender hand to stroke the top of its head, like petting a puppy, “Leave us Salome.” She said to the snake, “Guard the entrance. Do not let anyone approach.”
The snake let out a soft hiss and slithered to the floor. It shot past Luffy in an instant. A moment later the door closed behind him, and the snake stood guard.
He turned to the Empress, and she sat down on the edge of the bed. With her posture like an elegant queen, her face was like a shy maiden as she patted the spot next to her. He accepted her offer, and joined her on the bed.
“I… ate a Devil-Fruit…” She began, “It is the Love-Love Fruit.”
She was staring into the space in front of them, so didn’t catch the way his neutral, disinterested expression changed to shock at the name of her Fruit.
“It allows me, among other things, to turn men who have desire for me to stone.” She took a soft breath and looked at him, “Tell me, Luffy, do you desire me?”
“I do.” He was an honest person, first and foremost.
She smiled, “I see… My Fruit grants me quite a few abilities among them… is the identity of my True Love.” Her face was happy and sweet as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, “It is an ability that only my sisters know about… so my Kuja must be very shocked right now…”
“So your true love… is it me?”
Instead of responding, she raised her slender hands, slightly shaking with nervousness. She put them together, forming a heart with her hands and whispered, “Mero Mero Mellow.”
He blinked as a pink, heart-shaped beam appeared from her fingers. Moving slowly, it washed over his body. His eyes went wide for a split second as he felt a strong beat in his heart… but then nothing. He tilted his head in confusion, and looked at her.

“Your love?” He stared into her glossy, enchanting eyes. His brow furrowed, “You love me because your fruit tells you so? That’s stupid.”
His words only made her smile grow wider, and she shook her head. Slowly, she reached forward, placing a delicate hand on his chest, “No… I love you because that is what my heart tells me. My fruit told me you were here so I came to see you with my own eyes… now that I have... “
