This one was pretty challenging for a few reasons but mostly the amount of scales, which meant I couldnt do them the way I usually do (I know this because I tried it and it looked awful) so I figured the best approach was to draw them only in certain parts which is really enough to give the illusion of detail without it becoming overwhelming. Pretty similar to how you usually draw hair or fur really. Of course its another thing Id get better at with practice but yeah lacking experience with that here.
Then she has more of a curvy/plump body type which is another thing I hadnt done in a long time. I do really like it though I just never get asked to draw characters like this and I dont have any of my own. The way I see it its like taking the softness of breasts and applying it to the whole body pretty much, so its no surprise Im into it.
I think I would have liked her to have a bigger/thicker tail as well to go with her general proportions but yeah its not my character so, Im limited on what I can do. And in general I also didnt have much space for the tail anyway, so this was the best I could come up with.
On the technical side since the character is pretty monochromatic (aside from the red eyes) I figured Id be better off going with muted colors and focusing on the lighting/contrast instead and again making her look as soft as I could (especially the skin that is).
Id definitely like to do more characters like this (as in body type) but not sure how many are into it. I suspect it will probably be one of my least popular posts, but oh well.
Also last week or two have been very unproductive in large part because Im getting hit by another heat wave and yeah, its not fun when you dont have AC. I cant wait for the summer to end already, the heat completely saps whatever energy I still have left. Gonna see if I can get more done this coming week and keep things going anyway, especially with commissions since there are a few more I really wanna get done already.

Since I havent posted a character like this in a long time, a lot of people probably dont even know its something I like/do, so they dont ask about it, which then leads to me not doing it, and so on. Its like one of those loops. Similar thing happened with stuff like pregnancy for example. The moment I did my first one, I suddenly started getting a bunch of requests because people were like "oh, so this artist does that, Im gonna commission them then". So yeah maybe after posting this one Ill have a few more people interested in something similar.
