I wonder if mom knew the blood line and what the daughter will be, kept her busy and out of reach of grandpa to avoid exactly that? I have no idea but she made no sense to me except for this. If she is even her mother, she looked so detached.

That last scene was done to perfection. That specifically is the scene I was waiting for. Because of things going forward I got hella confused as to how this scene fit into the rest of the narrative.

Yeah this episode begins what little I remember from the full manga review of the series some people did. Should be enough to cover at most like 3 or 4 more episodes. But it was the stuff I was looking forward to because man is it confusing for people to talk about without visuals.

i think so given hayase's insaity goes from one person at a time had she died it in theory would have ended the craziness

On second thought, you're right. The insanity is hereditary, as is the cult. There's no chance that it would have ever chilled out. They are very clearly the same as they were 20 generations ago... Though, if the girl really did off herself, that would have been the end of the line, no? No, probably the mom would have just had another kid. But now I'm curious about why the mom was distancing herself from the grandpa if she inherited the insanity but didn't want to join the cult?
