Yeah I always hated that threesome scene too because it really does feel like taking advantage. It doesn't matter whether Malakai wanted it or not, he was not in a good mental state and for Harper and Dusty to be doing that with him right after what happened is just not okay.

I’m fully with you about that threesome scene at the end! Like, good for Harper and Dusty running after him and comforting him, but was so messed up in so many ways. Towards amerie and also towards malakai - he was clearly out of it (high and traumatised) and it very much feels like taking advantage. For context about the police scene (I think you already got it but just for more clrification) it’s important to know that malakai is indigenous australian (aboriginal/first nations), who are statistically at much higher risk of police brutality in Australia. You commented on his accent and vocabulary a couple times before, so that’s the reason why he speaks a little differently than the others. Missy is also first nations, so she gave him the necklace as a present (remember she said “it’s nice to have another brother around!”) and the camera focus of the necklace when he’s being thrown on the ground is very symbolic. I think the cop even tore it off and threw it at him, and Malakai is not wearing it anymore when he runs away.
