Intro to the Fated Mates Route
🕑 Added 2025-05-21 01:00:02 +0000 UTCYesterday we discussed the new Dark Maiden Route (DMR) and today I'll be breaking down the new Fated Mates Route (FMR) for players who want a monogamous romance with Valdricht. This route will also be exclusive to The Nightborn Edition. I'm going to keep this one short, since you'll be able to play the intro to FMR very soon.
Core Distinctions
✧ Divergent storyline with fewer choices.
✧ Options for traditional fated mates or sub kink.
✧ Strong mate bond drives the early game plot.
✧ Serax and Valdricht are not/never were lovers.
✧ Potential enemies to friends arc with Serax, depending on your choices.
For a start, the Fated Mates Route will have fewer choices than the main story route, however it will have more options than the Dark Maiden Route. Because they're both separate routes written to tell a specific type of story I won't be able to add a ton of variety in where your MC travels to or plot-breaking options.
Apart from your handling of your relationship with Serax and your baby options, your story-defining choice will be what sort of relationship you establish with Valdricht in the early chapters. Assert your boundaries and demand to be treated like the woman of dignity that you are for a story branch that is very similar to the poly route. Or, spread yourself out in front of the door and invite Valdricht to walk all over you for...reasons.
For reasons that will actually make sense further down the line, your MC and Valdricht will share a much stronger mate bond in FMR. It won't be one-sided, meaning there will be a lot of sexual tension starting in the prelude and then growing more intense.
Similar to the previous MFM version, Serax and Valdricht will share a platonic maker/sire bond, although Serax will have strong feelings for Valdricht. As his friend, your MC can help him untangle his attachment and self-actualize--but Serax won't make that easy. Getting to the end of Act I (approx 1 month mark) with Serax as a friend will be a genuine challenge. There will be various ways you can do it, but none of them will be easy. It will, however, be rewarding if you like enemies-to-friends.
Conclusion
FMR is the monogamy route for Valdricht. Unlike with Dark Maiden Route, nearly all of the lore and history will be shared with the main route, with only the intensity of the mate bond and Serax & Valdricht's relationship being changed. The storyline is in some ways darker than the main route, primarily due to the antagonistic relationship with Serax and the MC's sexual urges outpacing her emotional readiness.
There will be a detailed content warning prior to entering Fated Mates Route so you can judge for yourself if this is a story route for you to explore.

There being less options makes sense, since there are fewer variables to interact with. Ngl, I'm so excited to make my MC and Serax frenemies against their will 😂. They'll be like, "S/he's annoying, but that's MY annoying sun witch/brute!" I do love amping up the temptation between Val and MC through their bond—I can tell I'll be torturing all three of us of trying to make MC a Respectful Woman™.
