Slim Chance 3 - Chapter 6

I've had a lot of work dumped on me this month and its been difficult to find time to write. To add to the troubles I'm leaving town on Friday so I'll have even less time to finish another chapter. That said, one really good night of writing can equal an entire chapter- so its not impossible!

I awoke naked on the floor of the gym, heart pounding. Amanda, the pool- it had all been a terrible dream. A stack of rectangular metal plates sat beside my head, attached by a cable to an exercise machine. A heavy metal thunk startled me and my head whipped around to find my nightmare was all too real. Amanda stood at the squat rack with her back to me, enormous rump filling her grey leggings to bursting. I stared for a moment longer before coming to my senses, I needed to get out of here.

I looked up: way, way up and saw my key-card dangling from her fingers, held impossibly out of reach.
Amanda smirked arrogantly. “You just couldn’t stay away from me, could you bro?”
My stomach felt queasy I wanted to throw up. “W-what are you talking about?”
“Oh please, as soon as you found out where I was you came running,” Amanda sneered.
“No! I didn’t know! I just needed the money- Mom needed the money. The house payments-”

“Ugh, just shut up.” Amanda grabbed my wrist and began to haul me across the room back towards the exercise equipment.
“Let me go!”
Amanda laughed dismissively. “If you want to convince me you’re gonna have to prove it.” She wrenched my arm and I flopped forward onto the gym mat. The squat racked loomed above and she quickly took up position in front of it, standing over me.

Kinda feels like the potential has been maxed out in the interactions between brother and sister here. Like it's diving back into scenes we have already seen in the last slim chance. Jake never really shows any real defiance or comes up with any plans or ideas at how to get back at Amanda in any way. The power dynamic and limited characters are wearing thin. . . For me anyway. I still look forward to every chapter though.
