You know, this whole scenario reminds me of Vox from film Logan's Run. Originally designed as a keeper of seafood, humans harvesting salmon, plankton and fruit from the sea to be frozen. Then they forgot about Vox and then runners started appearing.so logically he kept his prime directive and began freezing them. So, I if this planet was made as a large daycare, and nobody showed up, logically the machine would still keep it's prime directive of "taking care of the new arrivals."
