Monthly gifts, townie makeovers, COTM and some more

I wanted to talk about some matters regarding to monthly gifts, townie makeovers, COTM and some more. These are the questions/requests i usually get via private messages so i'll answer them in this blog post. I'll try to keep it brief.

Monthly Gifts
Before 2025, around after mid 2024, i started to create monthly gifts based around an idea, a themetic. Sometimes you voted for them and sometimes i decided for them. And as for 2025, every month introduced a gift themetic. Seemingly, it's liked by majority. So i'll try to stick to this in 2026 too. Every month will introduce a new monthly gift themetic. And hopefully, i'll try to get your votes via polls more often. This way, you can get to decide some of the monthly themetics. I also want to make some post for you to recommend some themetics and open these ideas to voting. Other than that, as mentioned earlier here, i plan to bring some of the old and popular themetics as sequels, with your votes of course :)
Townie Makeovers
When i create townie makeovers and/or remasters, i pick a random townie that inspires me. Even though i am the one to give them updates, i do not go and pick for my personal favorites. I do have favorites but to be fair to everyone, i pick them neutrally.
I am well aware that sometimes, some families remain unfinished. If a family has 5 members, often 1 or 2 receives makeover and rest of them remain as they are for months. This is mainly because of 2 reasons:
Sometimes, i can't find the inspiration i look for
Sometimes, a family has like 7 members and i can't possibly give 7 makeovers at a single month. This will either burn me out or some people does not want this much makeovers and prefers custom sims more.
I try to find a balance in between. However, starting from January (since December's townie makeovers are being selected by you here), i will start to complete unfinished households first. If a family have 5 or more members, i will divide this household into two. But i will try my best to finish the unfinished households first.
And going forward January, i will try my best to give townie makeovers first. If i ever feel burn out, i will occasionally deliver 1 or 2 townie remasters. But my main focus will be townie makeovers.
Character of the Month sims
First ever COTM was created in January 2025. And it's almost December, which will mark 12th COTM next month. But before we say goodbye to 2025, i will make an exception for December. Next month, there will be 2 COTM sims (1 male and 1 female) instead of just 1.
As you guys know, COTM characters are month specific. They don't return in any way. But this causes a lot of people to feel left out. I often receive messages to return them. People usually mention that it's been almost a year, 6 months etc. While this is true, the whole appeal of this benefit is them being monthly supporter gifts. But i also understand their point. People sometime can't support or don't feel like support at that specific month to get that sim.
For this reason, i will make something like this.
Let's say, i created a cotm during 2025. The COTM characters will remain as supporter only during 2025. But they will be available to obtain seperately 1 time only in January 2026.
After this 1 time only purchase period (like 2 weeks), they will retire again until 2027.
COTM created in 2026 will remain as supporter only during 2026. But they will return in 2027. This is just an example but you get the idea.
I don't want anyone to feel left out. So this will be an alternative for those wishes to get a second chance.
Project: NPC, where did it go?
Okay, guilty as charged. I ignored this themetic for a looong time. Last characters of this themetic was back in June 2025. Starting from January, i will make polls each month. These polls will give you options to chose. Each option will have a different type of category. This way, you'll get to decide next NPC type. If you missed them, you can take a look at them here.
