The Creature of Castorfield - Update 2

Welcome back to another month's update blog about the Creature of Castorfield, so far everything is going great, and according to plan. However, I want to slowly avoid showing off too much about the game so that it doesn't spoil the actual fun of exploring through it, last month's post was a great showcase of trying to pitch the concept, and help you to understand what the vibes are and how it's different from our other games, but in the next few updates it's going to be a little more tell and a little less show.
The overarching narrative has been planned, and the major plot beats put together.
Four different location backgrounds have been completed, the office, the cabin (above), the Doctor and the Mansion. There's still maybe 5 to go, this is the art that we're focusing on first before everything else.
The main character art has been started, the idea is that the main character will slowly be feminized over the 40 days of the game, but we won't be showing the main character art until the logo reveal, and we won't reveal what the transformations look like (so it can remain a surprise) but let me say that our artist BlackOut is seriously cooking this time.
We're slowly through and adding more document types, there's a few locations that will have different documents to the sheriffs office, including for example a Census. The Census is VERY important (but I can't say why rn), but lets talk about the Census for a moment.
We have an Excel spreadsheet with the names and details of 61 characters, each important to creating a world that feels lived in. (one of my own complaints with Sleeve Shock is that the world feels empty because there's so few characters, but it's tough to get additional art for new characters without taking up time for the existing roster.) These 61 characters span the history of Castorfield from before 1888 to 1932, the year the game is set. Certain family lineages will be important, as for example the Everett company that owns Castorfield and the mines has a head of the family that changes hands during the events of the game. You will only see art of characters that are alive in 1932, whilst the town is at its most abandoned, but the other characters from the past are important parts of unravelling the mystery.
at the moment we are also trying to figure out how many steamy scenes the game will display in its run time, as the plot demands most of the major stuff will be towards the end during the confrontation with the creature, and we have some impactful encounters earlier in the story before that, but trying to pace things out to match the games non-linearity and changing MC is proving to be a challenge, so what is likely to happen is that we work backwards from the finale, ordering things from most important to least important, and then potentially adding things for padding later on, to make sure the tempo works nicely.
If people DO want content spoilers as a way to get more information about the game, do let me know in the comments I might start doing posts on a higher tier to give people input and more exclusive looks at things before it's finalised in the game.
For now I hope this is something to help keep you excited about the project, as I still very much am!

It would sort of ruin the point of the game, but I always wish to see "Nope Out" bad/unresolved end(s) in horror and thriller games. They are definitely a distraction from good game play and good stories, but an unresolved end that is a moment of levity with a "post-credits" scene that foreshadows that horror still continues even with the character's abdication would be cool to see. (I'd put it on the lowest priority list at the moment though.)

I'm enjoying the telling, even without the showing. I'd be interested in hearing how you're planning out the non-linearity. I know you can do beat-by-beat and major plot planning based on the other THM games. And working backwards from the finale sounds like a great plan.

I like to be surprised. So it's fine for me when you don't show anything beforehand and the thrill and anticipation won't be ruined. That's also the reason I don't ever look at walkthroughs.
