Taking both tokens out of his inventory, Ronan observed them. Much like the lesser rarities, they were wooden tokens in a sort of sword-shape, with an inscription that read ‘endless’ on the back. He didn’t actually know the language, but his universal rarity translation skill did the work to allow him to understand it regardless of his prior knowledge.
After his brief appraisal of their aesthetics, he tossed them both into the air, activating them simultaneously as he did so. They burst into a showering glow of blue light, the accompanying chime ringing in his ears. After hearing the epic token’s dramatic process, it was less impactful.

Ronan let out a low whistle as he read through the notifications. That was a wombo-combo of items if he’d ever seen one. Not only did he get another fruit to add to his collection—one that filled his enhancement buffer in a single go—but also another legacy grimoire.
This grimoire was a higher rarity than the last one he’d obtained and Ronan hoped he might be able to earn greater benefits from it than the last. The chances of this one also being related to sorcery were low, but whether he got a talent, stat, mastery, or skill, he wasn’t fussed. All improvements were just that, making him a little stronger at a time.
Ronan thought back to the last legacy grimoire he’d used. At that time he’d started a branch path due to the skill-stealing mirror, but the legacy grimoire hadn’t been improved much by repeated loops. While he’d gleaned a little more about the sorcery each time, he wasn’t sure if the same would hold true for a grimoire that gave him something such as a skill, which was a one-time buff that couldn’t be repeated.
Well, perhaps it could be, but all he would gain was a tiny amount of progress towards a free chronos merit. That was a gain, but he’d rather keep pushing onwards in this tutorial and then repeat if necessary. The overall gains would be better that way.
Mind set, Ronan took out the legacy grimoire and used it. He was slightly worried that he was unguarded, but no goblins had wandered his way thus far. Even if he died, it’s not as though it was a major setback.
His vision faded as he was dragged into the grimoire. A kaleidoscope of memories expanded before him, a thousand thousand shards of shattered life on display. One began to race towards him, gathering a few more shards along the way until it was a glassy cluster of jumbled memory.
As it crashed against him, Ronan was pulled into the past of another person, prepared to receive the gifts of the legacy grimoire.
He was greeted with the sight of a man in white robes, head held in his hands as he strained to stay awake while sitting at a wooden desk. He suddenly jerked upright and grabbed a pen, scratching in a diary that sat on the desk in front of him.
From where Ronan’s point of view was, he couldn’t quite see what the man was writing in the diary. The next moment the man jerked upright. “Wait! What if there was a way to combine the two? This… could be groundbreaking!” he exclaimed.
The memory twisted. The next moment Ronan found himself staring down at an office of sorts. An older man sat at the desk, heavy bags under his eyes and a mountain of papers beside him. He looked stressed.
That was when the white-robed man from before burst in through the double doors, slamming his diary down after launching the stack of papers into the air. “Chief! I’ve figured it out,” he said, eyes brimming with fervor.
“Figured what out, you damned fool!?” The older man roared while leaping from the desk. “It took me a week to organise those documents. I have enough on my plate with the damned plague breaking out in the city.”
“Yes, exactly! I figured out how to solve the plague. We’ve been going about it all wrong. Healers try to…” The memory seemed to blur, the voices becoming indistinct.
It sped up, but Ronan was still able to follow the man’s memory as it progressed. As far as he could tell, the white-robed fellow had come up with a novel new way to treat a plague that had broken out in his city, causing revolutions in healing. Ronan wasn’t sure how exactly they’d done it but the ‘chief’ had apparently merged two separate healing skills into a new one that allowed them to cure the plague with ease.
The memory wrapped up once the skill was rolled out and the healers of the city were able to completely cure the afflicted citizens. The white-robed fellow was made a hero for his work. It twisted a final time after that, his mind returning to the outside world.
Vision blurry, Ronan rubbed his eyes before looking around to see if he was still safe. Thankfully no goblins had come by while he was inside the grimoire. Knowing the system though, it might have happened in an instant.
What was more pertinent than his immediate surroundings was the notification hovering in his vision. His reward for absorbing the legacy grimoire.

Compared to the previous grimoire which only offered him a brief glimpse into the life of another, this one gave far more tangible rewards. However, the last grimoire had given him the knowledge of sorcery, which could be considered a far greater long-term benefit. Either way, he was more than satisfied with this grimoire—not to mention it had given him another healing skill to utilise on his current iteration.
A wider spread of examples should help him to better figure out how to turn healing skills into spells via sorcery. Pulling up the description of cure affliction, he realised how it was different to the class skill minor heal.
Cure Affliction (Rare): Sometimes, healing the wound is not enough to cure the patient. Insidious afflictions linger, continually sapping at their vitality. With this skill in your arsenal, you are no longer limited as ordinary healers are. Cures afflictions such as bleeding, poisoning, paralysis, and more. Variable cost based on severity of affliction. (Cost: 25 Mana + 5% Max Mana)
While minor heal was a skill that increased the health points of the target and was able to deal with physical wounds, it seemed that things such as bleeding and poisoning might linger. This skill dealt with all of those in an efficient manner, which meant Ronan now had a full suite of healing skills to deal with all scenarios—especially when including suture wound.
If he was able to decode all of them and convert them into sorcery, he might be able to figure out a greater truth about healing magic. That was a far-flung dream, however, and for now he would be happy to gain a basic understanding of healing magic.
With both of his items used, Ronan was ready to keep moving. Following the trend, if stage 1 had been a goblin patrol and stage 2 had been a goblin camp, then stage 3 should be a larger group of goblins. Some kind of outpost, perhaps, or roving warband?
There was no way to be certain until he found them. Having learned a little about hunting goblins, he looked for tracks and signs of the forest being disturbed.
Given that walking in the direction he’d been before finding the goblins seemed to be correct, Ronan kept doing so. Along the way he did begin to notice more and more signs of the goblin presence. Berry bushes that had been plundered, trees with notches carved into them, and the occasional burnt-out firepit.
He was beginning to get a solid idea of what the final stages of this tutorial might have in store for him. While he was a big enjoyer of goblin slaughter, he wasn’t really looking forward to it. Even so, what had to be done had to be done.
A shriek to his right broke Ronan from his concentration. He heard a twang and threw himself behind a nearby tree. A breath later, an arrow whizzed past the trunk and buried itself in another unfortunate chunk of bark.
Glancing out from around the trunk, Ronan caught sight of the goblin, hidden in the canopy of a distant tree. It even had leaves and branches all over its clothes in an attempt at camouflage. It worked.
At this distance he wasn’t able to make out the goblin’s name and class, but that was easily solved. Using eagle eye he magnified his vision and was able to see his foes in more detail.

Higher level than the goblins in the previous stage, but not as high as he’d expected. Perhaps there would be stronger goblins hiding in ambush. As his gaze darted around he noticed a few shaking bushes and oddly shaped tree trunks. More goblins.
This time, he was the one being ambushed. Ronan didn’t mind. It was fun to switch things up every now and then.

The fruits let him abuse the mineral skeleton as well harder. Lose some of his gained agility for more total stats

That is kind of cool. Got a healing that can directly affect the body rather than just only the stat of health. Need more fruits to max out the stat limits.
