GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP38 (Process Steps)
🕑 Added 2024-07-23 09:28:25 +0000 UTCThe process steps are up! As promised, I recorded these right after finishing up the pieces so it could come out while the set itself is still fresh :)
This set took a LOT longer than what I expected at first, and took quite a bit out of me to really finish things up. It's really got me considering taking a small break from sets, and delving into more individual illustrations! Much of my effort really went into figuring out how to build the scene as I saw it in my mind, and as it tends to go, took quite a bit of trial and error.
As always, all your questions are very much welcome below! Thank you all for your amazing support :)

You are the goat , I first saw you on ig and I fell in love with your work immediately, you inspired me to work digitally. I was wondering if you can achieve anything close to your work in procreate?

Thank you very much for the kind words!

Hi Guweiz, thank you very much for making these videos. I started digital drawing about 5 years ago inspired by your drawings, and I love watching your art and drawing process. It helps me a lot to improve. Both of your artbooks have taught me a lot, and I am very grateful for that. Thank you very much and good luck with your future projects!!

Ah, I think you nailed it! New perspective means better understanding, I think. You're now even bigger expert than before!
GUWEIZ
Indeed! As expansive as the sets can be, the visual impact of a "single" definitely has all kinds of unique potential as well. I'm looking forward to making more of those again!

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Honestly it felt a little difficult at first - getting a fresh perspective on the "darker themes" made it hard to really do things exactly as before. I was more aware of how fragile the balance between actual visual intrigue and tropey-ness actually is. So I ended up spending quite some time really trying to nail that part down! Still some ways to go I think but it was fun!

Also, I'd love to see a single illustration! It brings completely different opportunities for you :)

Yayy! I love your process videos, and this one is a long one, what a treat! It's great to hear you happy and this set is something special, from the ideas to all details... Hpw did it feel to come back to "usual" paintings after making character sheets and happy scenes?
