Patreon and Sales Tax
🕑 Added 2020-05-31 16:08:04 +0000 UTCHey everybody~ ^u^ This is a lame post~! I just need to let you all know about a change to Patreon's rules:
Starting in June, Patreon is gonna start adding sales tax to some transactions. It depends a lot on where you live, and how Patreon chooses to interpret my content offering~ >3< So it's hard to know whether or not it will affect you. I will let you all know if I can figure out more, but I've included a link that hopefully covers most of it~ I'll try to answer any additional question you guys have~! >3<

I got an email from patreon explaining that starting in July, they're required by law to tack on a sales tax for certain patreon users depending on what benefits they provide. They said it would be as much as $.50 for a $5 pledge. So, I'm good to keep going.

Well, these are the rules and there is nothing to be done about it. Yes, I’m sure that this news is not pleasant for everyone ... Especially for residents of some states of America.

Us Europeans have been paying a blanket sales tax on all Patreon pledges for years. It might be nice if they start evaluating Patreons so the ones that shouldn't be taxed don't get taxed though.

I guess it is only valid to a so called "benefits" that creators might add to a certain tier. We'll see soon enough :)
