Saturday Update!
🕑 Added 2023-10-14 14:08:54 +0000 UTCHello again people! It's going to be a bit of a rough update this week, and for that I apologize.
I did end up taking Monday off for mental health, but life is throwing a lot at me lately and I ended up losing a lot of work time throughout the week on top of that. On Tuesday, my computer become so slow it was unusable, so I went through a harrowing reset process that took about 2 hours. I was pretty worried it was going to end in boot loop, but the computer managed to reinstall some corrupted chunks of OS and continue working.
But then on Friday my dishwasher flooded my kitchen
And that was very stressful and demoralizing. I got very little work done.
I've told my manager about it but I don't know what they'll do. For now I'm stuck hand washing my dishes, which isn't the worst thing in the universe but I am already struggling with balancing my personal life and running a business so extra chores right now hurt.
But, time marches on, and I still have a proper update of some kind.
As you might notice, the placeholder number makes no sense again... sorry ^^; Last time I wrote in the number I neglected to delete a lot of combined sprites after replacing them with split [ head/body ] ones. So the placeholder number should actually be accurate now. Hopefully.
The main task I actually did get done last week was completing the drill path placeholders for Day 2
This involved adding in one new base sprite type, seen above- but was also sped up by having my split up previous sprites I could mix and match with. Definitely worth that effort.
Another change I decided to make was more about the UI structure. I've decided to add in faded choices in the few places in the game where having a choice in a menu depends on what you do beforehand. The faded choices wont tell you what you need to do to unlock them, but they will tell you that there's something secret here to access.
In other somewhat related news, I should tell you guys my decision about Saturday Updates going forward. It seems there are people out there who think that viewing my pirated Patreon updates on kemono isn't enough, and they have chosen to parade my WIP art on tiktok for views. So, unfortunately, I must be more careful about what I post here.
My updates will remain mostly the same- but I will be a bit more sparing with what placeholder art I show. This is probably the best move anyway, since the rest of the game follows the original script a bit less and I want people to enjoy some surprises when the game is released.
I admit, I am demoralized and very very tired. But it happens. Having hard weeks in production is just a fact of life.
I hope that my next week is easier.
Anyway, thank you guys- you guys on Patreon choosing to actually support me and help me make this game a reality- so much for your help. The actions of the selfish few will not affect my gratitude for you.
Have a safe a beautiful fall weekend! <3

The following message is meant only for this person:
Yes, I know who you are. But I won't ask people to dogpile you. I don't need to.
Instead, I want to talk to you. I assume you're viewing this post on kemono right now. I also assume you're young. Probably a teenager.
Do you know what it's like to build a game? Or a huge project in general?
Do you know what it feels like, to take an idea inside your head, and commit to making it a reality? To decide to show up day after day, after it stops being fun, after it stops being rewarding, to still show up and work?
Do you know what it feels like to cry over a project? To rejoice over it? Do you know what it feels like to choose to show up and work, long after the drug of attention has worn off, over and over and over again, to pour your time and effort and soul into something, for months- maybe even years? Just to create something?
Do you know what that feels like?
I assume you don't. But I hope that someday you find out. And I hope it changes you.

Man I just joined here (huuuuge fan over the last year, but I knew about your work for years now) and daaamn how hard it is to be an indie developer, and you do all this on your own! I really hope this person stops doing this, it's not like you have a backup, this is your job! What pays the bills! I wish you the best and hope that the shitload amount of money I'll put by finally getting your merch helps <3 ly so much and I love your work <3

If that's TikTok, I'm not surprised. People on there are damn losers and need a life

Ever since I’ve been letting TikTok users know of your stance, a number of them actually take the videos down. For what it’s worth, some people ARE listening! 💕
People are so shitty sometimes Gato, I’m so sorry so much has happened this week and has piled onto you. I really hope you’re able to feel even a little bit better soon, we’re all here for you 💕 honestly websites like kemono are the worst. That being said! Thank you so much for the always amazing update, and I’m so excited about the unlockable route options!
