This update adds a multiple stage career to the River Rat, beginning as a trainee server with the potential to work your way up to manager. Earn tips as you cultivate either a flirty or more professional atmosphere.
You may earn good tips by complying with customers' demands, but often a firm word or confident persuasiveness will do just as well. The River Rat is a good career choice for building Submission or Dominance skill, as well as Disinhibition and Exhibitionism.
At the top end of the career, you can choose a direction for the River Rat, taking it from its sports bar origin to a place that caters to geeks, a topless bar, or a lounge for the town's wealthy elite.
As always, a huge thanks to the contributors who added to this update. Thanks also to the early access crew, whose support and diligent bughunting made this update possible.
If you're not aware, we're maintaining two parallel development cycles:
The monthly update might contain new event sets, new locations, or new mechanics, but usually focuses on extending existing content or polishing existing systems. It comes out once a month with whatever we got done in that time period... hence the name!
The roadmap update checks off one or more items on the roadmap, adding extensive new mechanics and a bunch of related new events in one go, often fundamentally changing how the game can be played. It usually takes multiple months.

The River Rat has been expanded with a new complete career path
Start as a River Rat server, serving tables and earning tips based on how quickly you respond to customers and whether you undertake any of their special requests
With good performance comes more tables to oversee, more pay, and more opportunities for tips
After proving yourself as a server, be promoted to bartender to sling drinks for tips and help supervise the servers
Work your way up to the manager position and be able to set the direction of the bar by choosing from a range of upgrades
Upgrading the River Rat will alter the demographics of its clientele and may even unlock unique events
As a server, choose to be either flirty or professional. Cultivating a certain kind of atmosphere will not go unnoticed, however, and will gradually alter the expectations of the customers and lead to uniform changes
Choose to comply meekly with customer requests to build Submission skill, or build Dominance skill by teasing them or convincing other servers to fulfill their requests
Around a hundred new events added
Employee discounts for meals now apply to the River Rat and QuickieBurger locations
Favoriting people now has an effect on their odds of being featured in events or becoming crushes
When being prompted for a reaction to an NPC that you haven’t established a relationship with, you’ll often see an indication when they match your character’s turnons or turnoffs
NPCs that your character finds attractive will be indicated in the People display with a new icon
Your character’s turnons and turnoffs can now be reconsidered, with a one week cooldown
Fixed hotkeys still working while dialog boxes are open and some rare save database bugs (contributed by majou)
Added new options for autosave intervals, plus the option to autosave at all
Gloryholes have been slightly refactored to allow the player to choose whether they want to be in the giving or receiving role
Partly implemented birthdays. They don’t do much yet, but a few events around them will be added soon
Added a bunch of new books (contributed by Meat Glacier)
Added some icons indicating when somebody is on a sports team

You're fine, i definitely get that. I just work 12 hour shifts and I love instant gratification when I game cuz I don't have the time to play like I used to lmao

I wonder if npcs will be able to interact with one another during sex scenes at some point? It would likely create a much more dynamic flow, speed up the finishing process if there are several, and create a number of new options for group play. Perhaps instructing a handful of subs or partners, while other stuff continues to take place. Im guessing it could also get awkward from a coding standpoint. But perhaps an element to explore at some point.

I think from a realism standpoint, we have to earn our keep to progress. It would be nice to just be at the top, but it adds to all the stuff our pc is juggling. Trying to keep our grades up, perhaps a sports team, relationships, and trying to climb a ladder at a new job. I guess it does take some time, but i just flirt each time, and both bars keep moving along. Seems like roughly 35-40 shifts to advance. Once we advance, its just on to the next, and most of the game is really easy to progress, should one choose. We should allow for some elements to take time to unlock. Our dev is consistent with quality updates, and seems to be aiming for a fairly realistic setup for us to navigate. Perhaps an option for a bit further down the road, we could see just that, but im ok with this piece taking some time to earn our full unlock. Happy gaming either way, and my apologies if it feels im attacking your viewpoint. I definitely understand it. I just think we are in the early/middle stages, and it will work itself out in due time.

Intimate and sex scenes would benefit a lot from some payoff or character expression mechanic. Just adding skillchecks and choices similar to how it works in streaming and working scenes would go a long way.

Very excited by this update. Is there anyway to raise the river rats progress bar faster through certain actions or even cheats, so i can see the new stuff sooner? I’ll work a full day at the RR and it’ll go up by the tiniest sliver lol I’ve worked there seven days total and it seems like it’s filled maybe 3% out of the total bar lol

Time to get very drunk! (responisbly) Thanks for the update 🙏 Also I thought of something while starting a new character, it would be nice if we could pick randomly when the game asks for the best friend's gender. I never thought about asking but I'm realizing I keep going to Google to roll dice when that part comes up lol
