Hello friends! It is Friday dev diary time again.
It's release week, and prepping that (followed by bughunting) has taken up a fair amount of time this week, so mostly what I've been up to is covered by the November update's changelog. So this will be a short one.
This release touched a lot of different complex systems, so there have been a few issues to sort out. Luckily nothing major, and the bugfix release from last night (we're currently on 0.5.5d) sorted out a lot of it. Another bugfix release will come later today or tomorrow.
It's time, however, to get back to the River Rat update! I've decided to work first on the necessary widgets, code, and events for the management aspect of the job, plus the promotion system. These are basically the update's last major pieces, and all that will be left after doing that is fleshing things out a bit more and making sure it's properly filled out with events.
This is extremely work-in-progress, but you get the idea. You can upgrade the bar over time, which can have positive affects on your shift, as well as change the bar's clientele.
Different demographics have different inclinations and wealth levels, which can affect your tips or, you know, what you need to do to earn them.
In addition to working on these final systems, I also want to do another round of bartender events and flesh out that job type. On my nice-to-have list is a mini-storyline for the bar owner and event sets tied to specific upgrades (I won't spoil anything yet). Whether these can reasonably be scoped in at this time or will have to wait for a followup remains to be seen, but I'll do my best.
By next week, I think I will have the management and promotion stuff completed, which will give the entire career its structure. After that will be another round of event writing and filling in some gaps, then I'll see where we're at and where to go from there. But we'll definitely be in the very final stretch at that point.

Oh, teachers specifically? I guess that case is kind of not covered. While they'll date secretly, actual relationships with them still need a bit more work. I'll clarify it

If they say they aren’t looking for anything serious, does that mean I’m locked out of any kind of relationship with them? Even if our friendship and lust is maxed out? Every single teacher is saying that currently.

I'm sorry, but it seems that the issue hasn't been resolved yet. When customizing the first anonymous NPC in the same location, it works correctly. However, when customizing the second anonymous NPC, the changes are not applied.

They should say something after that, like "for now I just see you as a friend" or the more encouraging "but let's see where things go." It's meant to just mean you haven't quite hit the qualifying conditions yet, which is usually down to attitudes... but there's also a lot of variables, so it's a bit complicated. I'd have to look at the save to see exactly what's going on.

Two questions that are very similar in nature. How do you get someone to accept you as their dominant, as they keep saying somethin like "I dont think so" even though we've been on a months worth of dates and me and the NPC have the correct traits. Second why do some npcs reject me everytime when I ask to start a relationship with them, even if we've had over five or more dates and they always enjoyed themselves? They say "I dont think I'm ready for that"

Yayyyy, I was also wondering , it would be nice for y’all to add, and you of course the option to quit jobs, including river rat, just an option,, that would be nice though.

Oh, I just noticed that players can now finally customize NPCs whose names are unknown. This was a feature I had really been hoping for, so thank you very much for adding it. However, when I customize an unnamed NPC and click the Finish button, a message saying [That name is already in use.] appears.

Gonna be fun for our MC I've noticed with the pantyhose there are colours like blue etc. But no generic pantyhose shades like Beige, Barely Black, Tan or Nude colour for example
