Long and lonely the exile of Saran Embervale had been. Parted from his taboo relationship with his brother by their cruel and hateful father, Saran began to seek solace in things that went against the wishes of Silvermoon. Yet he was already exiled, what difference would it make to him now? What had the light done for him except shun him away from the joy he once had.
Out in the Ghostlands, Saran decided to take the leap into the void with a group of other Elves who had be outcasted by their kin and sought new strength in the unknown. What happened would forever change him as he found himself pulled through an endless space of darkness, constricted by shadowy tendrils that violated his body and mind from head to toe. Thousands of whispering voices invaded his mind as the tendrils invaded his holes, attempting to twist him to their will from every part of his being.
He was almost lost to it. He could feel the void taking him with every passing moment until something clasped his wrist. It was no tendril or shadowy claw from the dark beyond but that of a mortal. He turned his now blue luminous eyes to the source to find a hooded Elven ranger shouting at him, pulling his wrist towards her. Her words were soundless at first before her voice broke through the deafening silence of the void realm.
“Saran. Saran! Don’t give in, follow my voice! Make them release you! You can make them!” She cried out to him, still holding his arm to stop him sinking deeper into the grasp. He could feel his mind returning to his own, it angered the tendrils and the voices as they began to submit to Saran’s own will. When their hold on him loosened enough, the Ranger pulled him hard and tugged him through the tear she had been reaching through.
When he came through he was still naked and laying atop the Elven Ranger who stroked his hair and comforted him. His skin was a shade of purple-blue and his hair had turned from blonde to dark purple. “Thank...you...R-ranger. Who...who are you?” he finally spoke, his voice shaky and weak.
“My name is Alleria Windrunner. You have a lot to learn, Saran. And I will help you. I will help all of you.” She said with overwhelming confidence, holding him tightly as he fainted against her.
