Urgh. Is this going to be a repeat of Katie forgiving mass murderers and feeling guilty about them?

Andrew Meyers

From the timing of it, she escaped just after Ortho contacted the Commander (2 hours ago, which is just before the 'almost an hour' of a trigger respawn timer plus 1 hour respawn time). The fort people never read the letter, or just ignored it. But then, almost an hour before Katie found the Commander, he had talked to Ortho and immediately sent the people necessary to free her (the guy who hooked her up, to unhook her; a priest?/Holy Magic user to fix her up better than the bandage; and some no-name guards to help undo her bindings). So, it was really REALLY shitty timing, especially given that the delay of an unknown number of hours or days between her being captured and waking up coincided almost perfectly with them receiving the communication device. And now, the funny part - Ortho still thinks he's in contact with the fort ("...now that I can communicate with them directly,"), but Katie has the communication device that the Commander was using, and he couldn't possibly help in that way this time. So, Ortho had no idea she had broken out, and had been under the assumption that, for the last two hours, Katie had been freed and was recovering. That makes his 'How' more about 'How did you recover so quickly and get here in only 2 hours after being freed?' I hope she ends up siding with the Vulpes and the Demons against the Demon Lord, ignores the Humans entirely, finds some shrines to max out her third class and get all the goodies, including the ones to both find her way home and undo up her non-Human characteristics at will.

An interesting philosophical question. Even if this Si'janrii has the same personality, he has a completely different set of memories. Is it justifiable to punish him for something a clone did? I would say no. What if Katie could reintegrate their memories, like she did for her own clone? But if she did that specifically to give herself an excuse to punish him, what really changes from the original situation? This version hasn't been defending a settlement from monsters for his entire life, and doesn't automatically assume that anything that isn't fox-kin is out to kill them all. He's therefore perfectly polite to Katie. If she still looked human, things would be different, but for better or worse, she doesn't.

They're still the same person, right? The other was a copy, including behaviour I assume. Double revenge?

To be fair, the fox-kin are the most humanoid of the demon army, so the chances of the first town she decided to visit being fox-kin occupied was pretty high, given that she was looking for human sized and shaped housing. The chances of someone she knew manning the gate she happened to walk up to? Not quite as high. It could be explained as copying from the closest town to Katie's position at the time of her wish, rather than foreknowledge, but still a bit of a coincidence.

Vorquel

What are the odds that the foxkin we're copied from the first demon town you visit? If the goddess knows what she's doing? 100%
