5.4 - Sophie Update Progress
🕑 Added 2018-07-26 07:00:01 +0000 UTC Greetings everyone!Pre-alpha season is in full swing and lots of progress is being made behind the scenes. First, let's kick things off with the obligatory update chart:
5.4.0 Update Status

Those in the pre-alpha tier have already gotten to experience Sophie's first new serum event, which makes two total including the first one in the lab. This new location is where the majority of Sophie's serum events will take place, and when 5.4 releases players will have a total of four opportunities to dose the boss lady.
At first glance this may not sound like a lot, but there's a few things to keep in mind. First, Sophie's serum events will be spanning across the entire story, meaning with every new chapter you'll also have new opportunities to dose her. These will be included with each chapter release, not added after the fact. This means that when Chapter 3 releases, you'll have a total of 5-6 serum events with her.
Second, every dose will also unlock a number of random and possibly dynamic events based on the route you're pursuing.
Sophie's Route Mechanics
Sophie will effectively have four route options:
- Asking to refer to her by her first name unlocks the romance route
- Asking her to go down on you unlocks her submissive route
- Asking her to flash you unlocks her dominant route
- Not dosing her at all unlocks her indifferent route
From there, you'll have the option to continue down a single route, or try different ones. The way it works is like so:
Every time you choose an option (besides not dosing her), you'll gain a hidden point in that route such as DoseDom, DoseSub, or DoseFriend. If any of those values ever falls more than 2 points behind another value, it will no longer be an option. For example, if you have 0 points in her Dom route, 1 point in her Sub route, and 2 points in her Friend route, and decide to further her Friend route again, you'll be locking yourself out of her Dom route. Permanently.
While you'll be able to try different things with Sophie during a single playthrough, the real rewards will come from exploring a single route to its conclusion.
While I'm not going to go into any endgame details, here's some things you can expect from each route in 5.4:
Romance Route:
While you won't be getting into her pants as quickly as other means, the romance route is for those looking to get to know Sophie's character on a more personal level.
This will unlock features such as being able to call Sophie, take her on dates and day trips, and ultimately be the only way to unlock her interactive event.
Submissive Sophie Route:
The quickest way to have naughty time with the boss. Choosing to dominate Sophie will not only unlock easy access to her office during the day, but ultimately result in the whole building being made aware of her new nature.
Slowly breaking Sophie's mind and will, and forays into exhibitionism and public humiliation is the name of the game here. While you'll never be required to share your pet to progress, it'll certainly be an option in the end.
Dominant Sophie Route:
For those looking to explore Sophie's more sadistic tendencies, look no further than this route. What starts as innocent teasing and playing will ultimately end in a life of forced encounters and BDSM sleepovers.
What's more, depending on your relationship with other coworkers it might be safe to assume her activities won't end with just your suffering.
Indifferent Sophie Route:
Don't like Sophie? Don't care about her story or events? Pick this route. You monster.
Each route will add new random events to the office event pool related to the direction Sophie ends up taking, as well as new conversations.
Artwork Update
Higher tier supporters have already gotten a preview of the new dynamic sex scene system, as well as seeing Sophie in some compromising positions. Next week, I'll be sharing that with everyone, though non-patrons won't be able to see the uncensored versions.
Other than that, pre-alpha patrons can look forward to regular pre-alpha releases as we move through the 5.4 development cycle.

This sounds really good. The only thing I find slightly weird is the flashing being the route for PC submissive. So far I've always opted not to dose Sophie as a sign of subservience to her. It might be more intuitive if it were reversed; ie, instead of dosing Sophie, offering to let Sophie dose him.

You're able to mix routes so long as they're close to each other in terms of progression, however the real reward is in seeing the end of the route, and you won't have enough opportunities to dose Sophie to do this with multiple routes. The expectation is that you'll play differently in subsequent playthroughs.
I would second the request for paths not to be mutually exclusive i.e. switching being a possibility and inclusive of the romantic option.

While all of this sounds amazing, I've got to ask: will combining routes for an ending be possible? For example, will it be possible for players to reach an ending that combines the Romantic and Submissive routes?
