🕑 Added 2025-04-17 11:00:10 +0000 UTCThe brothel location will give Iris the opportunity to engage in prostitution without gaining notoriety or attracting the attention of the knights, but it's also a little more involved than just slutting around in the streets; the clientele at the Crimson Lantern is here for romance and entertainment as much as sex, so you'll have to do a little more than just spread your legs.
Every client has a personality of their own, you can see it by clicking the tip (!) button. This will give you a hint about what kind of behaviors they might like or not like.
As the date goes on, Iris will respond to small events. Each event has three options, and these three options all correspond to one of the four atmospheres: lively, romantic, sexy, and refined. Every client has two atmospheres they like, one they don't like, and one they hate. You'll need to really read between the lines of the description and the actions to figure out exactly what to do in a given situation.
Based on the description of our client, we can assume that the lady inquisitor likes a lively and romantic atmosphere, so we'll keep that in mind.
In this event, our client asked us to dance with her. Since we know the romantic atmosphere is one they prefer, let's choose "Gaze into their eyes while dancing."
This resulted in a positive reaction, meaning the mood is improved! Next the client pays Iris a sweet compliment. Iris should use this opportunity to further improve the mood! (Ignore the changed NPC sprite; it's the same client profile, I just messed up the images when screen-capping them and had to re-do some of them).
This time, we opt to simply thank them in a simple but polite way. For clients that appreciate manners and sophistication, this would have been the right choice, but for this romantic and lively guest, it must seem like a tepid response.
Worsening the mood isn't the end of the world, though. The mood starts neutral and can move toward a more positive or more negative mood based on Iris's responses to events. As long as the mood is positive overall by the end of the date, things will have gone well enough that the client will want to go upstairs with Iris♥.
After completing a sexual encounter, Iris will receive payment, both for keeping the client company and for the other "service." Even if Iris fails to create a positive mood during the date portion of the activity, she'll still receive partial payment, as well.
In general, brothel prostitution takes a bit more time and is less efficient for restoring MP and filling flasks. In exchange, it's safer in terms of the law, and pays better. I also think the little date segments are fun, and while I have already written a pretty large number of possible events, I'll make sure to add more from time to time to keep it from getting too stale and boring.
In the future, the brothel will also have its own story content and progression systems, where Iris will be able to collect and sell information she learns from special clients (almost like a sexy femme fatale spy!). She'll also be able to meet unique NPCs as clients that she can go on to form deeper relationships with over time.
