Welcome to December
🕑 Added 2017-12-01 20:47:09 +0000 UTC November has came and gone, and it was a pretty hard month...amazing, but hard.After hitting my goal to go and shoot for We Were Wanderers in Japan Amber, Nicole, Porcelain, Henry and I planned a trip that took us from our home base in Seattle to Tokyo and then down to Kyoto. Over-all I think the trip was a huge success despite some serious set backs. We shot a ton, just not exactly what I was hoping for, but I will go over all of that in later posts.
Then we came home, and the jet lag hit us like a sledge hammer. Its been 2 weeks now, and I'm still not really fully recovered. I knew coming back home from Asia would be bad, last time it was terrible, but as it turns out the jet lag coming back from Asia in the winter is 100x worse than summer. The last 14 days have felt like a weird dream I barely come out of before night falls. Some days I wake up and its already night.
We've tried coffee, cbd, no coffee, z-quill, waking up early and feeling miserable all day. Not much is working. I'm getting work done when I can, but damn.
Still I'm excited. This year has been amazing, a whirlwind, but amazing, and honestly this is the first time I have been able to sit down and think about it. I realized that December is our first month with nothing looming over the horizon. The first time we can sit and not worry about our next tri. We went to Chile, Redwoods, Umpqua National Forest, San Fransisco, Portland, Alaska, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, LA, Iceland, France, the San Jauns, Olympic National Park, and Japan this year, and you got us there to create the work for that I am incredibly grateful.
I'm also grateful for this month where I can maybe relax a little bit. Do the editing and video shooting that I've been meaning to, but haven't because every trip has another that follows. I'm over six months behind on editing. I get home, I clear cards, I leave again.
I used to sit in the basement in Philly for months at a time, and edit while watching Anthony Bourdain jealous of all the places he was seeing. Now I do the same a couple days a month and it sometimes it looks lonely.
I'm still trying to find the right balance to this life, and you all help with that.

I travel from the US to China and Japan frequently. It's different for everyone, but I find that Melatonin helps.
