Redwoods Road Trip with Amber, Alice and Vaunt
🕑 Added 2017-06-08 23:03:22 +0000 UTC We decided September of last year that Alice X was going to come out to Seattle this Spring so we could explore the nature around our new home. The Redwoods is one of those places I always want to spend more time, and a location that I have thought could be good for a workshop. So in April we loaded up the van and headed down to California.The first time I saw tree's this massive I was really focusing on shooting landscapes, and to be honest I found Redwoods to be a pretty frustrating subject. They loom so large that the scale is almost impossible to capture, but now that I'm focused much more on nudes in nature I think they are perfect. Among the roots, fallen trees, standing trees, and dense forests we feel so small, and we have so much to work with. Every turn of the trail feels like a new image waiting to be created. Its a magical place to be able to work.
The four of us spend a couple of days camping, hiking, shooting, cooking out under the stars, and sleeping in our tiny van we've converted into somewhat of a camper. April is still a pretty chilly time to be in Northern California, so our shoots were quick but amazing. We chased the soft light through the dim forest capturing what we could, and dodging the occasional hiker also enjoying the solitude its so easy to find in the redwoods.
I still have so much to explore down here, but I'm hoping that soon we will have a plan for doing a Redwoods Nude in Nature workshop for next year.
