May - A Road Story
🕑 Added 2015-05-03 21:33:55 +0000 UTC I think it was a year ago I told Nicole I didn't think I could do it anymore. The long drives and months away from home were getting to me. I'd just finished a 40 hour drive from Minnesota to Philly that I had managed with cigarettes, shitty coffee and two hour naps on the side of the road.I was broke. The price of gas had hit a high I hadn't expected, and I felt like a stranger in my home...I felt disoriented.It's a weird thing traveling for these photos. You get used to living out of a car and not owning anything you use outside of it. So after three or four months when you finally get back to your place, it takes some adjusting again to owning things.So I tell Nicole I don't think I can do it anymore. The forty hour drives just leave me exhausted and sad. Two months or a month later I'm back out there somewhere. Chasing some new location. Looking for a new photo. It's never ending and I know that now. The cycle of chasing, and exhaustion and everything that comes with it.I'm gonna keep chasing and keep hoping for the pay off somewhere along the way. I've been able to do it for 5 years now. It's more than I could ask for.Thank you all for coming along with me. I'm in Missouri today. Will have a full update on this trip so far tomorrow.Comments

I think you are incredibly talented and clearly very skilled, I was looking through several of the photographs you posted on Tumblr and, yeah. It's frustrating not having the technical knowledge to be able to appropriately express and articulate what it is I see in your work, but, not just anyone can see and create and capture like this with.. truly, such excellence. Very powerful and brilliant work.
