Suzaku (hour one)
🕑 Added 2018-11-18 11:12:47 +0000 UTC One hour into the Suzaku painting I took this screenshot haha. I've been able to (sort of) break one of my very bad habits of zooming in to detail stuff too early and I painted the face within the first hour fully zoomed out (this view). However, one habit I have not broken yet is distributing the work across the whole piece as I progress...virtually everything except her face is untouched (beyond base painting level) and it always looks super uncanny haha.
While I was in school, my painting teachers would always recommend distributing the work evenly as you paint, or else you end up with areas that are overworked or unbalanced by the time you reach the end. For a one-session painting like this one, I would also recommend doing that! For longer paintings I would still recommend doing that, as it reduces the potential for fixing things too much at the end, and you don't lose your sense of balance for the piece.
