Update schedule - How to be better in the future? + CG concept art
🕑 Added 2025-01-15 11:50:10 +0000 UTCFirst of all, thank you everyone for your patience! The previous update ran obviously way over schedule and we once again apologize. Some of these delays were because of unavoidable life situations, but there are things which we can control and want to improve upon, to make the following updates smoother and faster. This project has been a learning process for all of us, so let's take this moment to look back and learn. There are a couple key problems that feel at the center of these very long update times.
1. Too grand ambitions, too big scope per update
The plans for each update have simply been too large. We want every update to be impactful and take the story forward, but for practical reasons it is necessary to bring the scope of each update to a reasonable size. Something that we can manage with current resources in a more acceptable time. Going forward the size of each update will need to be smaller. What this means for the next couple updates is this. Originally the plan was to both fully introduce Sombra and do the start of Kiriko’s storyline in one update. This will now be split into two updates, first Kiriko then Sombra. This will mean smaller but much more frequent updates, super optimistic aim being an update every 1.5 months. Things rarely work out exactly to plan, but with that, any future delays will at least be of a more reasonable length.
2. Introducing new characters every update
So far every update has introduced new characters, while also trying to expand the existing storylines. Going forward, we want to take a more focused approach, where we do something more like this. A new character introduction update, then 2-3 updates that focus on expanding existing character storylines and improving more general gameplay features. This starts with not doing the big Sombra update right away, but doing first the update mainly focused on Kiriko content.
In Summary Future updates will be smaller but faster.
