🕑 Added 2021-08-01 00:51:30 +0000 UTCmy health issues are finally looking up. it took a trip to the hospital and a change in doctors, but i've got meds adjusted for blood pressure and for diabetes now. when they checked my A1C back in february when i had covid and pneumonia, it was only "slightly elevated" and i was told to cut back on sugar a bit.
i had some nasty chest pains and a severe headache and ended up in the ER on sunday, and after two days of tests and being poked and prodded continuously(seriously, that cardiac stress test is certainly stressful, they definitely named it accurately), turns out my heart is strong but my A1C was over 12 and i have full blown diabetes.
now i've got a different doctor, the proper meds, and i can think more clearly than i've been able to since i first got sick. i had no idea high blood sugar could do that, and didn't even realize it was a problem until it was back under control.
it's time to get this show back on the road!

Well now you have a proper diagnosis I hope you are feeling better. What people don’t realise is that high or more specifically excessively high blood sugars can be as bad symptom wise as low blood sugars.

oh yes, i've made some drastic changes already. completely ditched sugar and most carbs. i'm basically on a hybrid carnivore diet without the extra fats, and green veggies so i don't have too much gastric issues. i'm on insulin right now of course, but they've already reduced my dosage because i shifted my diet so completely. they're pretty sure we've caught it early enough that if i can stick to the meal plan and lose another 40 or so pounds, that they can drop me to just metformin, and if i can get down to a healthy weight reverse it entirely.

I am glad you are feeling better. For the Diabetes aspect, you may want to consider reading the book How Not to Die by Michael Greger, MD. Obviously consult your doctor before making any changes, but the book has about 300 pages of references. Drugs can help treat Diabetes but you haven't mentioned curing it and a whole food plant based diet can potentially cure it. Doctor Greger also has a website (NutritionFacts.org) where he talks about diet and its effects on health, with a lot of sources.

yeah, i had experienced low blood sugar before, so i would have recognized the shakes and dizzy exhaustion and weakness. i had no idea high blood sugar could cause what i was feeling. thought it was a heart attack, which was terrifying.
