The clanging of plates rang distantly as Nolan stared out of the living room window. His mind was full of contradictions. A swirling battle between his long life as a Viltrumite, and his mere moments here on Earth. Both battled with raging intensity, yet came to a complete halt at the sound of his wife’s voice.
“Nolan, come help me set up the table.”
In an instant, every contradiction had vanished. Every fear and worry had disappeared from his heart as he turned to his wife and put on the same smile he had used for years.
“Coming.”
He made his way over to the table and picked up the cloth. He spread it out and smoothened the creases before he turned to his beautiful wife who was making her way over with two plates full of eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
She laid them out then turned and gave Nolan a kiss on the cheek. His smile grew, almost unnoticeably as she smiled up at him, then turned to grab the third plate.
Yes… the third plate.
Nolan’s gaze darkened for a few seconds before returning to normal when his wife turned back around with Mark’s plate in hand. She put it down in front of his usual seat then walked over to the stairs.
“Mark! Come on down, breakfast is ready!” Debbie called out before she walked back to the table and took her seat.
Nolan stabbed his fork into the egg and prepared to take a bite while Debbie gave him a smile, but then her smile dropped as she looked at him curiously.
“Is something wrong, Nolan?” She asked, and Nolan’s eyes widened minutely. He let the egg fall back on the plate and turned to her with a fake smile.
“Of course not. How about you, how has your latest project been going?” Nolan deflected with practiced ease and his wife was all too eager to talk about herself.
“Oh… I’m glad you asked!” She perked up with a wide smile. Her posture grew more upright as she eagerly talked about the house she had done her best to fix up and was actively selling to any buyers. Nolan nodded along, hearing her words but not actually listening.
The sound of footsteps interrupted Debbie’s rant about her work and a moment later Mark appeared wearing a collared shirt and some jeans.
He looked so… human, and that’s exactly what he is.
“It’s about time.” Debbie crossed her arms with a mischievous grin as Mark made his way over to the table.
“Sorry, I was on the phone.” Mark rubbed the back of his head with his left hand and picked up his fork with his right.
“Oh?” His wife tilted her head with unhidden curiosity which put Mark on edge. “With whom, I wonder.”
“Please don’t do this, Mom.” Mark shrunk in his seat, earning a laugh from Debbie. Nolan watched the two interact and the conflict returned once again.
In a year… would their family be the same?
No, it wouldn’t. Nolan knew that much. It could never be the same after Viltrum took hold of this planet. Even if Nolan was stationed as one of the protectors of this world, Debbie and Mark… they wouldn’t be seen as necessary by the empire, especially Mark.
Nolan’s eyes locked on his son who was chewing on his bacon. His gaze hardened. Everything would be so simple, so peaceful, if Mark just awakened his powers. Viltrum would see Debbie as a passable breeding partner, Mark would be seen as a Viltrumite, and the planet would succumb to Viltrum rule. Things may be rocky at first, but eventually things would work out… but if things stayed how they were now, Nolan was going to lose everything, and he wouldn’t allow that.
“Mark.” Nolan put down his fork and spoke out, taking his wife and son’s attention away from their food.
“Yeah, Dad?”
Nolan clenched his fists on the table as he looked at Mark with a reserved expression. He didn’t even know how to put his feelings into words, or what to ask of his son, but he knew the boy needed his powers or nothing could be the same.
“You need to awaken your powers.” Nolan admitted, making both Debbie and Mark widen their eyes.
“Nolan!” Debbie whisper-shouted at him but he wasn’t going to back down here.
“Stay out of this.” He gave her a firm look but he knew his wife. Unsurprisingly the look he gave her only made her take more offense.
“I will not stay out of this!” Debbie shook her head. “Mark doesn’t need to awaken anything!”
“Yes he does.” Nolan frowned at her and again she argued.
“No he doesn’t, we talked about this Nolan-”
“I never agreed.” Nolan shook his head, recalling their conversation. It was Debbie who said she would love Mark regardless of if he awakened his powers or not, Nolan had never agreed.
“Mark is our son!” Debbie stood up and slammed her hands on the table with narrowed eyes. “Do you hear yourself, Nolan?”
“Mark is a Viltrumite!” Nolan argued back with gritted teeth. “He is meant for so much more than anything this world has to offer. To go without awakening his powers would make him insignificant to Viltrum, my home!”
A silence passed over the table as Nolan started to relax. The realization of how his words may have affected his family hit him, but he didn’t apologize. He couldn’t go into Viltrum’s true nature, but he could say as much as he had, and what he had said now was the truth.
“Then am I insignificant to Viltrum, Nolan? Am I insignificant to you?” Debbie asked quietly and Nolan shook his head.
“Don’t misunderstand my words. Viltrum does everything it can to help lesser worlds, what I meant is Mark will have no role in Viltrum’s plans for other worlds if he doesn’t have his powers.” Nolan corrected himself. He hadn’t wanted to back step but with how Debbie had gotten, it was the only way forward without making her too upset.
“I understand that, Dad.” Mark clenched his fists. “For years I have understood.”
“Mark…” Debbie looked at their son with a soft gaze. She reached her hand out to place on his clenched fists, but he quickly pushed himself out of his seat.
“Do you think I’ve liked being powerless? I’ve hated it. Watching Darius and Eve go out and become well known heroes while I sit in a dark room and watch… Do you think I want that, Dad?!” Mark slammed his fists on the table, making the plates shake.
“Mark, your father didn’t mean it like that, did you, Nolan?” Debbie tried to placate Mark but Nolan remained quiet. He knew exactly how he meant it.
“Darius has had his powers for over two years, and I’ve still been waiting for mine! You think I don’t dream of the day my powers awaken? The day I can finally be something more than me?! I’ve wanted to be just like you, Dad!” Mark shouted as anguished tears dripped down his face. He quickly turned away and ran up the stairs, leaving behind a silent Nolan and an upset and angry Debbie.
“Have you lost your mind?!” She shouted at Nolan, but instead of answering her, he stood up and walked toward the door. “Where are you going?!”
“I want a croissant. I’m going to Paris.” Nolan answers before opening the door and closing it behind him, uncaring of the shouts of his wife that rang in his ears even after leaving the house. He blasted off into the sky.
As Nolan flew, he saw the anguish on his son’s face in his mind. He knew it wasn’t Mark’s fault. He knew his son wanted his powers more than anything in the world… but if he didn’t awaken them, everyone would suffer, and that suffering would be born of his own inabilities.
— Darius Johnson —
The chatter of kids and slamming of lockers pissed me off as I walked through the halls of the school. The noise was making me even more angry and anxious than I already was, and I was tempted to just leave the damn place right now and never show back up.
I got rid of that horrible idea when I remembered Eve, Mark, Beth, and Will. I really couldn’t care less for anyone else, but those four people were my friends, and I would be spending much less time with them if I dropped out now.
Speaking of Eve though, she’s the reason why I’m so upset right now. I had called and texted her last night, then several times this morning, and she had not answered me. I was tempted to fly over to her place, but I decided not to. I expected her to show up since she typically lectures me on why showing up to class on time is a must… Yet she hadn’t shown up at all today.
It worried me, especially since she still wasn’t picking up my calls. More than that, her phone seemed to be off because it wouldn’t even ring.
Eve wasn’t here and neither was Mark. My best friend actually answered my call though and told me he was fine. When I asked about Eve he said he didn’t know and then hung up. I knew Mark long enough to know when he was acting weird, and I was certain something was up. I doubted that Eve’s disappearance and Mark’s absence were related though. Mark wouldn’t lie to me about Eve, even if she asked him to.
I had spent half the school day waiting for Eve, and she still had yet to show up. I couldn’t kill the part of me that was worried, especially with a huge threat in the city that needed dealing with. My mind ran to the darkest corners of what could have possibly happened, and I realized that sitting through the rest of the school day just wasn’t going to happen, not without some peace in my mind.
I made my way out of the school, ignoring the shouts of security as I passed through the front doors, and ran down the street.
Once I was out of sight, I blasted off into the sky toward Eve’s house.
It didn’t take me long to reach it and I immediately flew over to her window and peered inside. Yet, she wasn't there. I was tempted to go knock on her door, but I really didn’t want to deal with her parents, even if her dad was more… docile nowadays.
Besides, if Eve was home, she would be in her room. She wouldn’t miss school for any stupid reason besides her parents angering her, and if that happened, she wouldn’t leave her room for anything, which means she’s somewhere else.
The next possible place that came to my mind was Polly’s house, so I flew over there and landed outside. Unlike Eve’s adoptive parents, I actually enjoyed interacting with her biological mother.
I rang the doorbell to the house and waited impatiently for someone to answer.
My heart sped up at the sound of the lock clicking and a second later the door opened to reveal Dr. Brandyworth, or Elias as he insisted on being called.
“Darius… it’s midday, shouldn’t you be in school?” Elias asked with a tilt of his head.
“I was, but I got worried. Eve wasn’t there and her phone was off. Have you seen her?” I questioned with hope filling my chest.
“Yes, I have. She’s here.” He answered and a wave of relief flooded my body.
“Can I see her?” I asked and Elias nodded, stepped aside to let me in. I walked past him and deeper into the house. I turned into the living room and there she was, Eve, sitting beside her mother.
“…Darius?” Eve asked with slightly widened eyes.
I didn’t even answer her. I walked toward her and she stood up to meet me. I wrapped my arms around her back and pulled her into a tight hug. She let out a gasp at the sudden contact, but I couldn’t bring myself to let go.
If she wasn’t here… I wouldn’t know where the hell to look.
“I was worried.” I whispered in quiet admittance. Eve took a moment before she returned the hug, wrapping her arms around my neck.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized, but I didn’t even want to hear that right now. She was fine, and she was in my arms, that’s all that mattered.
Once we pulled away, I cupped Eve’s cheek and gave her a small smile, one she returned.
“To be young and in love.” Polly let out a sigh as her eyes glazed over. “To think I would get to see my daughter fall in love. I’m truly the luckiest woman alive.”
My heart tightened at her words. After everything she had gone through, she still considered herself lucky, not because of the things or people she had lost, but the person she still has.
“Sorry for not greeting you, Polly.” I looked toward the woman who waved her hand at me.
“It’s fine, believe me, it makes me so happy knowing how much you care about my daughter.” Polly gave a knowing smile at Eve which made the red-haired girl blush and look away from me.
“Yeah… I was pretty worried when I didn’t see Eve at school. Did something happen?” I questioned and got my answer when both women went silent. I looked back at Elias who was standing in the doorway, utterly silent as he watched.
“Come with me.” Eve grabbed my hand after ten seconds of silence and pulled me away from the living room. I gave her mother a nod before I was dragged away and up the stairs. Eve brought me to the room Polly had given her to crash at whenever she wanted and closed the door.
She walked over to the bed and sat down and I took that as a sign to join her. As I did, I took her hand in mine as I tried to figure out what could have happened that led to this change in her attitude.
I didn’t need to wonder for long, because Eve started talking, and when she did, she didn’t stop until she had told me everything.
Eve started with the night my family came over for dinner at her place, how she believed my dad did something horrible to her dad, and how it had changed him. Then she told me about what had happened last night, and I felt every negative emotion in my body swell.
I clenched my fists so tight that my fingernails dug deep into my palms. I had never liked Adam Wilkins, not even a little but when Eve told me what he did to her last night, my dislike devolved into hatred.
The man hadn’t hurt Eve physically, he couldn’t even dream of doing such a thing, but what he had done was hurt her emotionally, it was perhaps the only way a insignificant shit like him could hurt her.
Adam was scum, but I couldn’t put aside the reason for his behavior.
My dad, he had caused the man to end up how he did. Even if his intentions were good, he had made things more complicated and utterly ruined Eve’s family.
I had planned to talk to him after we dealt with the new gang that had moved in, but now I’m wondering if I should talk about it with him the moment I get home.
Eve wrapped up by telling me how she fled here, to Polly’s house, and how they had talked through the night.
“I don’t want to go back.” Eve admitted after a long minute of silence.
I rubbed my hand along her back and looked down at her, even though she was averting her gaze.
“Then don’t, I think it’s for the best anyway.”
Eve’s eyes widened and she looked up at me to see I was dead serious.
“I never liked your dad, and I never liked how submissive your mom was. Polly on the other hand is a woman I respect. She may be the most amazing woman I know, and I know a lot of amazing women.” I nudged Eve with a small smile.
“What about me?” Eve asked with puffed cheeks.
I let out a chuckle and realized I kind of backed myself into a hole. I leaned down and placed a long kiss on her lips, buying myself time as I tried to come up with something to talk my way out of this hole.
As I pulled away, I cupped her cheek and gave her the most genuine smile I could.
“Polly picked herself up when the whole world had pushed her down. Your mom, your true mom, goes beyond what anyone could have expected of her— but you Eve… I’ve spent years seeing your good and bad sides, and when you’ve fallen down I’ve picked you backup more than I can count. You’re not just amazing in my eyes, you’re everything. The good and the bad.”
I held my gaze down at Eve and saw her face hadn’t changed a bit from my words, but her cheeks were growing redder.
“You mean that?” She whispered as she placed her head on my chest.
“With every part of me, yes.”
There was another long moment of silence after my answer, but suddenly, Eve placed her hands on my shoulders and straddled my waist.
Confusion filled my mind as Eve wrapped her arms around my neck.
“Eve-”
I was cut off by her soft pink lips pressing against mine in a hungry kiss. In all the times I had kissed Eve, never had she been this aggressive. My hands settled on her lower back, while her soft digits rubbed on my chest.
Seeing where this was going, I slipped my tongue into her mouth, and there was only a moment of surprise before she began to curiously lick at my tongue.
Before we knew it, my tongue was wrestling hers in a sloppy battle while my hands roamed all the way down to her ass that was practically hanging out of her green track shorts. Her hands slid down to the bottom of my shirt and she lifted it to reveal my toned abs. She wasted no time tracing them with her cool fingers.
Eve finally pulled her face away and took long panting breaths. I was utterly unaffected by the lack of oxygen, I wasn’t even slightly winded, but I was intoxicated.
Everything about my girlfriend stood out to me at this moment. Her long red-hair, her flushed face, her glazed green eyes, her panting breaths and heaving chest, and finally little beads of sweat that made her pale skin glisten in the light from the window.
Everything about her aroused me, and I felt my control slip.
“I want you.”
Eve’s hot breath hit my face as we stared into one another’s eyes. She leaned forward and pressed her mouth against my ears.
“Then take me.” Her words were but a whisper, but they filled me with a drive I had never felt before.
I flipped us over, pinning her back to the bed as I slipped between her legs. She let out a breath of surprise and looked up at me to see my large form atop her.
I stared down at her for a moment before closing my eyes. I didn’t want to get carried away and hurt her, but I really wanted to make love to this girl. My dad had already warned me that as Viltrumites, we need to be exceptionally careful with our partners and prioritize their enjoyment over ours.
“Darius.” Her voice came out soft, snapping me out of my mind. My eyes slid down to her chest and I noticed her hardened nipples poking out through her white shirt. Her soft hand gently tapped my cheek and she smiled up at me. “I want this, I want you.”
What man could hold back after hearing that?
I ripped my shirt off on accident as I tried to pull it off, then took off my pants and underwear more gently, leaving me exposed to the only woman I could see myself with.
Eve sat up and admired my body for a moment. My body was large and defined, and the hungry glint in her green eyes told me she approved. Then her eyes fell lower and her mouth fell open. Her face grew even more flushed and she averted her eyes for a moment before setting her gaze back on it.
“I had a feeling you’d be big…” Eve breathed out as I took a step closer. “But I don’t think I could have prepared myself for this.”
I placed my hands on my hips and grinned. If that wasn’t a confidence booster, I don’t know what was. I never knew how big my manhood was because I had never measured it, but I knew it was more than big enough.
Eve’s cool hands touched my erect cock before pulling away as it twitched. She stared at it in undisguised interest. I knew that look, it was no different than how she looked when she was looking around at the atomic makeup at things that caught her eye.
“Don’t go altering this, please.” I half joked. I had grown rather attached to my friend on the lower side.
“O-Oh… no, I would never.” She breathed out and her hands touched it again. This time they grasped it loosely and gave my length one pump.
“We don’t have to do anything else today.” I told her hesitantly. It would be great if I got a handjob or even a blowjob from her, but I didn’t want her to feel like she had to.
“Did you forget what I said?” Eve asked as she looked up at me, she gave my length another pump as a small, nervous smile tugged on her soft lips that looked more enticing by the second. “I want this, I want you.”
She brought her head closer to my tip and gave it a quick lick that sent waves of pleasure through my body. I clenched my fists and closed my eyes, trying to keep control of myself. Every part of me wanted to grip the back of her head and fuck her throat, but this was a first for both of us.
Almost as if she could sense my anguish, she opened her hot mouth and took the entirety of my tip into it as she pumped my shaft with inexperienced hands.
“Eve…” I breathed out as her tongue swirled around my cock head. Slowly my hands came to rest on her head, even though the feeling was still strong.
She looked up at me, curious green eyes meeting my brown orbs as I looked down with overwhelming amounts of lust.
Eve closed her eyes and took more of my length down her throat. I could feel my cock be enveloped by the tight passage and her saliva that coated it.
I gripped her hair and pumped into her mouth, stalling her movement for a moment before she continued like before. I did it again and she began to swirl her tongue around it.
My fingers gripped her hair tighter and I moved my hips forward again, earning a small gag from her as my cock slipped down her hot throat.
“Gluck!”
Her watery eyes opened and looked up at me, and that look gave me all the motivation I needed to keep going.
I began fucking Eve’s face at a slow place,
“Gluck Gluck Gluck!”
The sound of her wet throat being fucked and her sucking and licking at my cock filled my chest with a strong feeling of pride, but also love.
Slowly, I pulled my length from her mouth and it left her lips with a ‘pop.’
I rested my glistening erect manhood on her face as she caught her breath.
As much as I enjoyed that, I wanted Eve to have some fun as well.
I offered her my hand once she had caught her breath and she took it slowly. I pulled her up and into my arms before taking her lips again and sinking my tongue into her mouth. My hand gripped her right ass cheek aggressively while my left gently grabbed her breast. My length rested against her belly as she moaned into the kiss, and I realized in that moment that making her feel good seemed just as rewarding.
My hand slid up her ass and under her shirt, making her gasp out of the kiss. She bit her lip as I lifted her shirt up and over her head, my eyes fell on her chest and drank in the sight of her naked perky breasts.
We briefly shared a look, hers was filled with shyness and unsurety for what to do next, while mine was awe at the body in front of me.
My hand reached out and cupped her naked breast.
“Mmm~!” She moaned as I gripped it more roughly than I intended. It may have been a mistake, but if she likes it… who am I to correct it?
I grabbed both of her breasts roughly and tweaked her nipples with my thumbs, at the same time my tongue plunged into her mouth once more. Her moans vibrated into our sloppy kiss, and I could feel her rubbing her legs together.
When I pulled away, I stepped forward, forcing her to take a step back and sit on the bed. She slid backward and I followed her. My hands landed on the sides of her track shorts and pulled them down, along with her panties.
I tossed them aside and looked down at my woman. Her face was turned away from me, toward a wall. Her hands came up to barely cover her breasts, but still left enough of them on display to admire her natural beauty. Her flushed body and dripping slit sent my body into overdrive and put three words on my lips.
“Damn you’re sexy…”
She didn’t look at me after I said that, so slipped deeper in between her legs and rested my hardened cock just above her pussy.
I reached out, leaning my body over hers, and took her hand. Slowly, she looked at me and intertwined our fingers.
“I’m going to put it in.”
Eve nodded and I took my eyes off of her for a second to line myself up with her entrance. I rubbed my tip against her pussy a few times, then I slowly slid in.
The tight grooves of her walls immediately clamped down on me as I entered. As I pushed in, I was met with no resistance besides her tightness until I was filling her up.
“Mmm~!” She held her moan in. I could hear a mixture of pleasure and pain in her moan, so I paused my movements until she gave me the green light. I didn’t even notice her hymen, yet she seemed like she was in quite a bit of pain.
She took a few gasped breaths and I waited with concern until she nodded at me.
“I’m fine, keep going.” Eve gripped my hand tighter and I nodded.
I pulled out slowly and slid back into her wet walls just as slow. Eve bit down on her lips as I repeated that motion, getting her familiar with my length and the new sensation. Her walls were gripping down onto my cock, and even though I wanted to remain the caring boyfriend, I couldn’t take this slow pace for much longer.
I grit my teeth and closed my eyes and her walls squeezed me.
“You can go faster.” She said softly. Her words hit my ears like holy scripture, the beauty and grace in them set my heart ablaze.
I grabbed her waist with my free hand and pulled my length back, then I plunged into her a bit faster. Eve bit back a moan once again, but I was far from done. I continued pumping into her, a little faster each time. Seeing that she was starting to feel more pleasure than pain, I thrusted my full length into her.
“Aaangh~!” Eve moaned aloud as her eyes shot wide. The sound was like sweet music to my ears and I craved to hear more.
The sloppy sounds of my cock fucking her pussy filled the room as I allowed myself to go faster.
“Aaangh~ Aaangh~!” Eve moaned over and over as my cockhead rammed the back wall of her cunt. She was being so loud I was certain that Elias and Polly could hear us from below, but I couldn’t bring myself to care as Eve’s eyes glazed over in pleasure. I leaned down and took her lips.
Her body began to vibrate and her walls clenched down tighter than ever before, squeezing my cock. I grit on my teeth and slowed down my pumps as she came around my length. I could feel her walls grow more hot and wet, as if her pussy was doing everything to milk me dry.
As her orgasm died down, I came to a complete stop and watched as her naked breasts heaved. Her arm fell over her eyes as she took in long breaths.
I looked down and felt more pride fill my chest. There Eve was, laying down on her bed, naked and panting after I made her cum.
I placed my hand on her cheek and smiled down at her with a smugness I had never felt before.
“You’re mine.”
The moment those words left me, I pumped my full length back into her in one powerful thrust.
“Aaaangh~!” Eve scream-moaned and I took her lips again to quiet her down. Both of my hands gripped at her hips as I fucked her sopping wet cunt, forcing the shape of cock into her womanhood forever.
Eve was mine, threats to this planet be damned, I’d have her to myself forever.
I didn’t slow down, I enjoyed myself as I used her body, and her moans into my mouth told me she didn’t have a problem with that. I had wanted to make love to her when we first started, but now all I wanted was to have my way with her.
As I pulled away and listened to the sounds of her moans break the air, I felt my orgasm approaching.
“I’m gonna cum, Eve.” I warned her with a growl as my cock rammed against the back of her pussy.
“Dari—Aaangh~! W-Wait~!” She struggled the words out as I plunged her deeper and deeper into pleasure.
There was no chance in heaven or hell that I was going to wait. Eve was mine, and by the time I was done, her pussy would know that.
I grit my teeth and bottomed out inside of her, just as I felt her hot walls clamp down on me again. As she came, I shot rope after rope of my hot seed into her. My tongue met hers in one last sloppy battle as my balls emptied.
Never in my life had such an explosive orgasm. As the last of my seed filled her, I realized that there was a high chance I had just fucked up and gotten Eve pregnant.
Half a minute passed of tongue wrestling one another before I finally pulled away and began to extract my length from her. My shaft was glistening with our combined fluids, and as my cockhead left her pussy with a quiet pop, my seed began to leak from her well fucked hole.
I looked down at my girlfriend with hazy eyes, watching as the high of her orgasm began to wear off.
“I love you.” I said with absolute certainty that it was the right thing to say at that moment. It was what was on my mind and burning in my heart.
Eve looked up at me with green eyes hazy with lust.
“I-I love you too.”
— The Next Day —
“Darius— Annngh~!” Eve moaned out as her head tilted back. I was holding both of her arms back as I fucked her from behind. Her heart shaped ass jiggled as my balls smacked against the lips of her pussy.
Eve and I had taken a small break last night before continuing again until late in the night. Since it was already very late, Eve wanted me to stay the night, and I was more than happy to.
That being said… I didn’t expect her to wake me up by bouncing on my cock. That had led to our current situation, with her moans likely waking up her mom and Dr. Brandyworth.
“F-Fuck! Don’t stop~!”
I smirked down at my fuck-drunk girlfriend. I hadn’t expected Eve to be the kind of woman who would become obsessed with sex, but here we are.
I let go of one of her arms and slapped her ass cheek, making her sopping cunt squeeze my shaft down tightly. I drove into her, even as she came around my cock even as she dropped down face first onto the bed. Only when I felt her orgasm coming to an end did I stop.
I hadn’t cum since last night, but I could tell Eve was sexually beat.
I grit my teeth as Eve let out soft breaths on the bed. I could suffer through the day with blue balls, especially if Eve was willing to be as wild as she was this morning and last night.
I laid down on the bed and looked up at the ceiling with a cocky grin on my face. That cocky grin was wiped off of my face when I remembered that I had finished inside of Eve twice.
I let out a long sigh and sat up. I had to make a run to the store.
