Back in the day, these fillers were actually something else. You get to learn about Akira's other works. It's like a little collaboration. A mini "intersession". Something to consume during the long wait for a new episode. Kids back then weren't very picky. Nowadays people skip it and miss a lot of history. You can skip it if you like, but it doesn't waste my time or bother me if you choose to watch. I'm still reading Detective Conan nowadays. This show is hella long and still running nowadays. Whenever a new chapter comes, no matter if it's filler or not, I will still watch and read it. That's the authentic experience. You are not picky when you are reading an on-going show/manga. I wish Dragon Ball reactors treat this series like it's an on-going show so they can have that experience too.

The Filler in OG DB is actually REALLY good when you compare it to DBZ’s filler. Like it adds a bit more context to the story on what goes on during time skips and training and such
