As Gwen came downstairs to wash up, she noticed that George had already left for work at the police station.
When George saw Gwen, he said, “It’s been a while since I last took you to school. I have some free time today, so I’ll give you a ride.”
Gwen smiled and nodded. “Thanks, Dad.”
Gwen’s mom walked over with breakfast and said, “Hurry up and get ready. Your dad has a lot to do.”
“I was just waiting for you,” Gwen replied with a playful grin before hurrying to freshen up.
“There’s no rush,” George said. “The biggest case has already been solved. The rest just need follow-up.”
“Besides, I’m the head of the precinct. It’s fine if I’m a little late.”
Gwen’s mom shot George a disapproving look. “You spoil her too much.”
“Don’t worry,” George replied, glancing at the newspaper in his hand. “I believe today will be a quiet day in New York.”
Little did he know, high above in the skies...
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier had become visible, and several of its engines had been damaged, now spewing flames.
If the situation wasn’t controlled soon, the entire Helicarrier could crash.
Tony and Rogers were working frantically to stabilize the engines, knowing that if the massive Helicarrier fell, it would lead to a catastrophic disaster.
On another front, a furious roar echoed through the air.
Under the influence of the Mind Scepter, Banner had transformed into the Hulk.
After a fierce battle with Thor, the Hulk shifted his attention to an attacking fighter jet.
With a powerful leap, the Hulk landed on the jet, destroying it mid-air before plummeting thousands of meters down, disappearing from sight.
Standing at the edge of the Helicarrier’s hatch, Thor watched the Hulk fall. After a moment of hesitation, he turned and headed back inside.
“Loki, this was all your scheme!”
Thor finally realized why everyone had lost their composure and erupted into conflict in the lab earlier.
Loki had orchestrated everything.
Thor quickly made his way to the airborne prison where Loki was being held.
But when he arrived, Loki had already escaped.
“Loki, get back in there!”
Thor charged at him, intending to force him back into the cell.
But Loki, anticipating Thor’s impulsiveness, shimmered with golden light. Thor passed right through Loki’s illusion and crashed into the prison cell himself.
“You’re as foolish as ever,” Loki mocked.
Bang!
Thor struck the cell’s glass door with Mjolnir, only to find it far sturdier than he had expected.
“Don’t bother,” Loki said smugly. “This prison was designed by S.H.I.E.L.D. specifically for the Hulk.
“Oh, and just in case the Hulk ever tried to break out…”
Loki walked over to the control panel. “They thoughtfully included a crash mechanism.”
“If I press this button, you’ll be smashed to pieces along with the prison.”
“Hands up!”
Just then, Coulson appeared, aiming a prototype weapon developed from Tesseract research directly at Loki.
“This is a weapon created from the Tesseract’s energy. I don’t know its full power, but if you’d like to find out…”
Loki could feel the immense power contained within the weapon. Reluctantly, he raised his hands.
“Release Thor…” Coulson began.
But before he could finish, Thor shouted, “Coulson, watch out!”
It was too late. Loki had somehow appeared behind Coulson and drove the Mind Scepter through his chest.
“Mortals… so fragile,” Loki sneered, tossing Coulson aside and turning to the imprisoned Thor.
He pressed the red button on the control panel.
Below the prison, a hatch opened.
The entire prison began to plummet.
Loki glanced at the still-crumbling Helicarrier and the scattered Avengers, victims of his scheme.
A satisfied smile spread across his face.
Now, no one could stop him.
Dr. Selvig had already reached Stark Tower. Once he activated the Tesseract’s portal,
the Chitauri army would descend upon Earth.
With their forces, Loki would conquer the planet and crown himself its king.
“Sir, it’s time to leave,” a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent under Loki’s control reported.
“Where is Barton?” Loki asked.
“Captain Barton has been captured by S.H.I.E.L.D.”
The loss of Hawkeye didn’t faze Loki in the slightest.
“It’s time to awaken my chronicler.”
Loki whispered softly to the gemstone on the Mind Scepter before turning to his subordinate.
“Let’s go. It’s time to witness the arrival of a miracle.”
Meanwhile, in the Thirteenth District...
Anna, who had been lying on the bed resting, suddenly opened her eyes wide.
Her pupils instantly turned a deep blue.
"Understood, my king!"
Anna responded in a low, solemn voice.
Without hesitation, she got up, headed downstairs, and hailed a taxi to Stark Tower.
In Gwen's room—
"Pikachu, stay home today, okay?
I don't have many classes, so I'll be back to keep you company once I’m done."
"Pika... Pika..."
Pikachu obediently nodded its little head.
From downstairs, Gwen's mother called out, "Gwen, are you ready?
Your dad is about to leave."
"Coming!"
Gwen grabbed the backpack resting on her chair, locked her door, and dashed downstairs.
In her haste, she didn’t notice the wristwatch containing her battle suit still lying on the table.
At the school gate—
Gwen opened the car door and stepped out, waving to George. "Thanks."
George waved back. "If I’m not too busy tonight, I’ll come to pick you up after school."
"I don’t have any classes this afternoon, so I’ll head home on my own."
"Alright, just be safe."
With that, George drove off, leaving the school gate.
As Gwen walked into the campus, she murmured softly to herself, "I wonder how Anna’s doing today…
I’ll check on her after school."
Meanwhile, beyond the universe—
In Asgard’s palace, Odin and Heimdall were both gazing in the same direction, their expressions grim.
After a long silence, Heimdall finally spoke.
"My king, this being called Emperor…
Is he truly from Earth?"
"How can someone from Earth be this powerful? Even Mephisto..."
Heimdall swallowed hard. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have believed it.
On Earth—a planet both technologically and culturally primitive—there existed someone capable of matching, or even surpassing, Mephisto.
No... he was stronger than Mephisto!
Odin withdrew his gaze. Compared to Heimdall, he had a deeper understanding of Earth.
Yet even he couldn't suppress his astonishment.
"Fortunately, Emperor is currently entangled with Mephisto," Odin remarked.
"Otherwise, Loki wouldn’t have a chance to stir up trouble on Earth."
Odin sighed and turned to Heimdall.
"What’s the current situation with Loki and Thor?"
"My king, Prince Loki has successfully scattered the Avengers.
He’s preparing to open the space portal and unleash the Chitauri army."
Odin nodded. "Who do you think will win—Thor or Loki?"
Without hesitation, Heimdall answered, "Prince Loki will likely win.
As long as the Avengers don’t discover the Chitauri’s weakness,
a prolonged battle will exhaust those mortals completely."
Heimdall cast his gaze back into the cosmos.
"However, if Emperor returns…"
The next moment, Heimdall shook his head, dismissing the thought.
Even if Emperor managed to defeat Mephisto, returning to Earth in time to intervene was almost impossible.
Thus, Heimdall still believed Loki had the upper hand.
Odin chuckled. "I believe Thor and his team will be the victors."
"Why?"
Faced with Heimdall's question, Odin yawned and didn’t answer directly.
Instead, he said, "I’m tired. I’ll take a nap.
Let me know the outcome as soon as it happens."
With that, Odin leaned back on his throne and dozed off.
Heimdall could only marvel at Odin’s composure—

After observing Earth for a while longer, Heimdall shifted his focus back to Mephisto.
Compared to what was happening here, the conflict on Earth seemed like child’s play.

A massive shockwave shattered the surrounding meteorites.
Alan, wielding the Emperor Sword, coldly gazed at Mephisto, who had been sent flying.
For the first time, he was unleashing the full power of the Emperor Armor in battle.
Mephisto, now lying in a crater, stared at Emperor in disbelief.
The strength of this so-called emperor far exceeded his expectations…
