[Genshin Impact] Chapter 295: Sword Technique that Traverses Space
🕑 Added 2024-10-22 17:06:42 +0000 UTCAt the sealed formation of Sea Gazer’s cave abode.
Seeing the giant purple toad demon, exuding the power of a level 90 entity, Nolan wasn’t surprised.
After all, it had been sealed by an adeptus, meaning it was likely even stronger before the seal.
Its strength still fell within Nolan’s capability to handle. Even if he didn’t personally join the fight, he was confident that his "Lumine's Sword God" could defeat it.
However, the problem now was that attacking this unknown demon would inevitably damage the formation that was sealing it.
And without the formation, a demon of this power might have unknown tricks up its sleeve. What if it escaped?
But still, it had injured Shenhe, and that was a grudge he couldn’t let go so easily.
He needed to come up with a plan...
"Sea Gazer, how did you end up like this, you scum?" The radiant golden figure had naturally caught the attention of the toad demon.
The "Lumine's Sword God" had no speaking function, and Nolan didn’t want to talk to it anyway.
"Wait, you’re not Sea Gazer. There’s no adeptal energy on you at all. This form… Could you be a human who stumbled in by accident? But why are you golden?"
Perhaps due to being sealed for so long, the toad demon had become unexpectedly chatty.
But it still received no reply.
"Haha, no matter! As long as you’re human, that’s all that matters. You humans seem to love treasure, don’t you? If you help me destroy this formation, I’ll tell you where Sea Gazer’s treasure is hidden," the toad demon tried to tempt him.
"Why should I trust you?"
Nolan, controlling the "Lumine's Sword God," used the golden sword to write a few words on the ground.
Although he had no intention of releasing the demon, if he could trick it into giving him information about the treasure for free, why not?
"What? Can’t speak? Are you mute? Hahaha!" The toad demon didn’t understand human writing.
After all, why would it learn something useless that some fragile humans use?
Though it had been sealed over a thousand years ago and its power had been steadily draining, the toad demon had gone into a hibernation-like state to preserve its strength.
It hadn’t been awake much during its time sealed, so despite the long passage of time, it hadn’t suffered much "wear and tear."
Being a relatively sane demon among its kind, it didn’t care that the mute creature had scribbled something—it assumed the human was simply trying to bargain for benefits first.
Humans! Greed always comes with a price.
The toad demon smirked internally and nodded, saying, "Very well. Leave from here, and at the second crossroads you come to, take the left path. Keep going, and you’ll find the first treasure.
"Consider that a gift for our first meeting. As for the rest, I’ll tell you once you break the seal.
"Once I’m free, I’ll grant you endless wealth and glory!"
It had compromised. After all these years, this was the first human with the potential to break the seal.
Patience was necessary.
Once it was free, it would reduce him to nothing more than poisonous sludge! No, more than that—it would devour his soul as well!
Nolan was slightly surprised.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
He had been closely observing the formation all along and realized that the seal wasn’t locking down the demon’s body.
It was sealing the space in which its body resided.
This meant that the formation wasn’t in direct contact with the demon itself, allowing Nolan to have his "Lumine's Sword God" attack through the formation, striking the demon in the sealed space directly.
After all, treasures could be found later—they weren’t going anywhere in this cave.
But the demon’s intent to kill and its aura of resentment were so intense they had become almost tangible. Was he supposed to just leave it alive until the new year?
Nolan glanced at the black mist swirling around the "Lumine's Sword God." A terrifying, frenzied malice radiated from it.
"Humans must die! Die! Destroy! Destroy!"
He guessed this mist was a result of the formation’s method of weakening the demon. It seemed to be slowly dispersing its power from within, eventually allowing it to dissipate into the world.
However, because Sea Gazer was no longer present, and no one was maintaining the cave, this demonic energy had been accumulating within the space for a long time.
The circulation of elemental energy was also thrown into chaos by these forces, rendering elemental abilities unusable.
The newest tendrils of black mist emerging from the demon carried its malice, which automatically drifted toward Nolan.
Nolan looked up at the area above the sealed location.
The black mist had already thickened into something like dark clouds. If the seal was truly broken, the demon might instantly absorb that energy back into its body, regaining most of its strength.
At that point, Nolan might not be able to defeat it and could only watch as it escaped.
It was hard to imagine how much of a threat such a powerful ancient demon could pose to the world of Teyvat!
Therefore, there was no need to waste time with it. The grudge for injuring Shenhe, along with the malice it harbored toward him, fueled Nolan's decision. He had the "Lumine's Sword God" raise its golden sword.
"Oh, human, have you already been swayed by greed? Excellent! Quickly, destroy the formation here!"
The toad demon, covered in purple and bubbling with poison, arrogantly assumed that the human before it had fallen for its trick and was preparing to free it.
After all, it couldn’t believe this human could bypass the seal and attack it.
The toad demon’s huge red eyes watched as the golden figure raised the sword high above its head, suddenly expanding until it stood 30 to 40 meters tall, about the same height as the demon itself. Any taller and the sword would pierce the ceiling of the sealed chamber.
But for some reason, the demon began to feel a slight sense of unease.
The human was about to attack the formation, so why was it looking directly at him?
Just as this thought flashed through its mind, the "Lumine's Sword God" swung the sword downward.
In the next instant, alarms blared in the demon's mind, but it was too late to evade.
"Slash!"
The red eye, along with half of its scalp, was easily sliced off.
"Arghhhhhh!!"
The toad demon roared in agony, the sound waves reverberating through the space, launching indiscriminate attacks on everything nearby.
As it was struck, painful memories surfaced in the demon’s mind, interfering with its ability to suppress the pain and retaliate.
Unperturbed, the "Lumine's Sword God" raised its sword again, unleashing waves of golden sword energy.
They instantly pierced through the space, disregarding any distance between it and the demon, striking its body directly!
All the attacks were focused on the demon's head and eyes, which Nolan had identified as weak points using his Eye of Judgment.
With the "Sharp Intent" trait, every strike of the sword energy easily broke through the demon's defenses.
Its formidable body, along with all its automatic defensive mechanisms, was being slashed apart.
Ten seconds, twenty seconds, thirty seconds!
Under the relentless assault, the demon suddenly erupted in fury, releasing a burst of spiritual energy in all directions.
"Enough! Filthy human scum, die!"
