[Genshin Impact] Chapter 267: The Fatui Attack
🕑 Added 2024-09-24 12:58:35 +0000 UTCThough this young man was indeed powerful, he was clearly still just a mortal. Yet, now he claimed he could achieve something that even the Adepti couldn't do.
It was truly surprising.
However, Granny Ping believed that this young man was not the type to speak without reason.
She nodded and said,
"I can indeed enhance your vision with adeptal arts, allowing you to see through the water. The task of finding Osial's weakness will be entrusted to you."
Granny Ping unleashed a surge of Adepti power, imbuing Nolan with a divine blessing.
Nolan felt a slight "heaviness" in his mind, as though he was now bearing something significant.
At the same time, he realized that he could now see Osial’s enormous body clearly through the water.
The Vortex God’s form resembled a three-headed sea serpent, its body massive. Even with the apdetal enhancement, he couldn’t take in the entirety of Osial’s form at once.
Fortunately, Nolan spotted two weak points between Osial’s necks, located in the gaps between them.
"How is it, young man?" Granny Ping asked with a smile.
"I found them," Nolan nodded and relayed the location of Osial’s weak points.
"You all heard him, didn't you? Since attacking the head isn't very effective, let's try this young man's approach," Granny Ping said to the Adepti in the distance.
"Very well."
Moon Carver and Cloud Retainer agreed. After all, attacking anywhere on Osial's body would still hurt him, so it wouldn’t hurt to try.
After channeling their Adepti power to recharge the "Guizhong Ballista" the Adepti cast adeptal arts upon themselves, allowing them to see Osial’s weak points beneath the sea. They aimed for the gaps between his necks, firing beams of destruction that seemed capable of eradicating everything in their path.
The beams struck Osial directly.
Ssshhh—
It sounded like water being poured onto a red-hot iron pan, the noise of water violently evaporating.
Though Osial's body wasn’t fully pierced through, unlike the previous two times the "Guizhong Ballista" had attacked, when he roared in anger—this time, he could only lower his heads in pain.
He struggled to shield his body from the beams while also summoning elemental power, manipulating seawater to clash against the destructive beams.
He was trying to drain the beams' energy to reduce the damage inflicted upon him.
As for why he didn’t flee, it was because half of his body was still trapped in the seal and had not fully emerged.
"This must be working!" Paimon hid behind Nolan, avoiding detection by the water element creatures, afraid of being attacked.
"Of course. As long as we maintain this pressure and launch a few more attacks, I think we’ll be able to force him back into the seal," Nolan confidently said, relying on Fischl’s special skill, the "Golden Eye of Judgment."
"Haha, Honorary Knight, you've done a great deed this time," Ningguang remarked. Floating in the air, she continued launching massive Geo-constructed gems at Osial, adjusting her attacks to target his weak points.
Ganyu, too, shifted her attack position. Her mastery of archery far surpassed Nolan's. With a single shot, she could freeze Osial's heads, significantly limiting his defensive moves.
"Hmph, well done, kid," Cloud Retainer, who was recharging the "Guizhong Ballista" glanced at Nolan and offered a rare compliment.
At the same time, their favorability toward Nolan slightly increased.
[Ningguang Has Developed Good Feelings Toward You, Obtain 230 Affection Points. Current Affection Level: Lv.4 (210/400)]

"Are they really overpowering the God?"
Observing the battlefield from the nearby mountains close to Guyun Stone Forest, Childe's expression was a mix of uncertainty.
His use of the "Sigils of Permission" to release the god was meant to force Rex Lapis, who was hiding behind the scenes, to finally reveal himself.
However, this situation was clearly not going as he had planned.
"Master Childe, it seems that the only threat to the Vortex God from Liyue's Qixing is those ballistas. Shall I lead a team to destroy them?" A Thundercraven Electro Cicin Mage appeared behind Childe, offering her suggestion.
"Go. You must ensure that those ballistas are destroyed," Childe replied after some thought, realizing that if he wanted to force Rex Lapis out, this was the only option.
"For Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, we will complete the mission!" The Electro Cicin Mage nodded and then teleported away.
At this moment, in the Jade Chamber, the water element creatures summoned by the Vortex God Osial had mostly been cleared away, thanks to the efforts of the Millelith and Nolan’s group.
Nolan had personally defeated enough enemies to add 50,000 Adventure EXP to his EXP bar. Including the 30% EXP boost from Lumine’s kills, his total Adventure EXP now exceeded 70,000.
With this, leveling up to 70 should be no problem, Nolan thought to himself.
However, just as this thought crossed his mind, several portals suddenly opened on the extra formation platforms of the Jade Chamber.
From the portals emerged the tall, familiar figures of the Fatui vanguard troops, who immediately charged toward the "Guizhong Ballistas."
There were also Pyroslinger Bracers emerging from the portals, aiming their fireguns directly at the Guizhong Ballistas, firing rapid bursts of elemental bullets. The bullets, imbued with Pyro energy, shot forward like streams of fire.
As the Fatui vanguard soldiers, their weapons were equipped with elemental capabilities to some degree, allowing them to harness elemental power. However, they weren’t yet able to use more advanced tools like the Delusions.
After all, Delusions couldn't be mass-produced like elemental weapons.
Bang, bang, bang!
Before the Pyro bullets could hit their targets, Shenhe reacted quickly, freezing the bullets in mid-air. The frozen bullets fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.
This battle was clearly different from what was depicted in the game’s storyline.
Not only were there additional powerful combatants like Nolan and Shenhe, but Ganyu, who was not being hindered by the God, was also present as a high-level combatant.
These Fatui soldiers were nowhere near the strength of their Harbinger superiors.
Even if they had hoped to catch the defenders off guard and destroy the Guizhong Ballistas, they were still easily handled.
No matter how many came, they were destined to be frozen into ice sculptures.
In other words, even though the Fatui used portals to launch their assault on the Jade Chamber, it was ultimately futile—just sending themselves to their doom.
Of course, with Nolan and the others present, Ganyu didn't even need to intervene.
Although these Fatui attackers were a bit stronger than average, with the weakest among them being at least level 40, the Millelith soldiers, who were equipped only with spears, were no match for their elemental weapons.
Nolan immediately used his spiritual threads to unexpectedly sweep them up and toss them into the sea, where they could keep Osial company.
At that moment, the Vortex God Osial broke free from the ice element’s control. His three heads combined to unleash a massive energy breath aimed directly at the Jade Chamber!
