[Genshin Impact] Chapter 281: Field Experiment
🕑 Added 2024-10-12 05:02:29 +0000 UTC“This is incredible! This stuff can make a seed sprout in just over ten minutes?”
Nolan exclaimed in disbelief.
“It seems so! It might not be very strong in healing injuries, but it has this unexpected effect of accelerating seed germination!”
Sucrose clenched her fists in excitement as she spoke.
“So, its value is still very high! I’d say this accidental discovery is quite a success!”
Nolan could easily see the potential of this “healing ointment” that could promote plant growth.
If the cost were low enough, it could be widely promoted to every household, ensuring that the world would never face food shortages again. Even if it wasn’t cheap, using it on rare or valuable plants alone would make it incredibly precious.
“Whew, even though it seems to work, an alchemist must approach their creations with rigor.
“So, next, I need to test its range of effects and check for any potential side effects.
“But there aren’t many plants left in the lab to experiment on, so, Adventurer, would you accompany me outside Mondstadt to test it on different plants?”
Sucrose looked at Nolan with hopeful eyes.
“Of course, no problem,” Nolan replied with a smile.
Since he had nothing pressing to do today, spending time with Sucrose sounded perfect. Plus, he might even earn more affection points.
“Alright, I’ll get everything ready,” Sucrose said as she started gathering the tools needed for the outdoor experiment.
Nolan suddenly remembered that since their relationship had now progressed to being a couple, this would be the perfect opportunity to grant her the ability of “Interstellar Travel.”
With this power, Sucrose would have guaranteed safety and greater convenience in her life from now on.
A few minutes later, Sucrose finished preparing and approached Nolan to discuss her experiment plan. Before she could speak, however, Nolan said, “Oh, Sucrose, I have something I want to give you.”
He then explained the “Interstellar Travel” ability to her. It would protect her and allow them to communicate and teleport from afar.
Naturally, Sucrose didn’t hesitate to accept such a convenient ability.

As the golden, star map-like “Waymark” merged into her body, Sucrose immediately sensed the presence of the others who had also been granted the “Waymark.”
They appeared as simple sketches in her mind, and she could choose to communicate or teleport with any of them at will.
Among them was Nolan, who had short black hair and looked pretty decent.
There was Lumine, with a white flower pinned to her head, along with the flying food, Paimon.
She also saw Fischl, the excellent investigator from the Adventurers’ Guild.
And lastly, a girl she didn’t recognize, wearing a hat adorned with a bright red plum blossom on the side.
Judging by her outfit, she seemed to be from Liyue.
“Why are they all girls?” Sucrose asked, a little jealous as she stared at Nolan.
It didn’t take much to guess that the other girls with the “Interstellar Travel” ability must have a close relationship with him.
But when she agreed to be his girlfriend, this scoundrel hadn’t mentioned anything about that!
“Uh… well, yes, except for that glutton Paimon, the rest of the girls are… just as you’re thinking.
“But don’t worry, I care about all of you equally.”
Nolan pulled Sucrose into his arms and explained honestly about his relationships with the others.
Of course, his relationship with Hu Tao hadn’t reached the level of being a couple yet, but since she already had a “Waymark,” it was easy to communicate with her. Becoming a couple with her was just a matter of time.
So, in a sense, what he said wasn’t entirely wrong.
“Hmph…”
Given the situation, Sucrose had no choice but to express her displeasure with a soft huff.
At that moment, Sucrose realized just how deeply she had grown to like Nolan.
Even though he had other girls, and was so flirtatious, she couldn’t bring herself to truly dislike him.
What an infuriating man.
Though Sucrose didn’t hate him, she still felt a bit of dissatisfaction in her heart.
Nolan could see that clearly, and he had plenty of experience dealing with it.
As long as he said a few sweet words, it would probably be fine.
After all, her affection level was already at nine. Sucrose would actually be quite lenient with Nolan. Even if she felt upset at times, it would soon pass.

Mondstadt, Springvale.
This field experiment was meant to test the unexpected plant-growth-accelerating effects of the “healing ointment” Sucrose had developed, checking whether it worked on other plants and if it had any side effects.
Particularly on crops.
Springvale, aside from being home to hunters, also had many farmers who grew crops. It was the closest village to Mondstadt City, making it the perfect place for them to experiment with the “healing ointment.”
After deciding to go to Springvale, Nolan also remembered that it had been a while since he last visited Master Draff. He bought two bottles of wine to bring as a gift.
Of course, he chose fruit wine with a low alcohol content to avoid getting him too drunk.
“Ha, I’m really thoughtful!”
With this in mind, Nolan asked around on Springvale’s streets to find out where Draff’s house was, as he was the head of the hunters there. Nearly everyone knew where he lived, so it wasn’t hard to find.
As luck would have it, Draff wasn’t out hunting that day and was resting at home. The two greeted each other warmly, exchanging pleasantries.
But the moment Nolan brought out the wine, Draff’s expression changed.
He hesitated, trying to get Nolan to put it away, and at first, Nolan didn’t understand why. Then, he suddenly noticed Diona standing behind Draff.
“You’re one of my dad’s drinking buddies!”
Diona shouted angrily and came at him with a broom, forcing Nolan to quickly flee.
He had almost forgotten how much Diona hated her father drinking. Bringing wine as a gift should have waited until she wasn’t around.
Realizing his mistake, Nolan found a hidden spot nearby to stash the two bottles of fruit wine. As he left, he gave Draff a knowing look.
With his experience, Draff would surely understand and easily find the hidden wine later.
After leaving Draff’s house, Nolan checked in with Sucrose, then used the “Interstellar Travel” ability to teleport to her side.
The midday sun shone directly overhead.
Before him was a field of flowers in Springvale, though none were blooming yet. The buds hadn’t even formed, and only the green leaves were visible.
Nolan wasn’t familiar with flowers, so he didn’t know what species they were.
“These are ordinary Sweet Flowers. I tested the seeds in the lab earlier, and now I want to see how the growing Sweet Flowers respond,” Sucrose explained simply.
She had already obtained permission from the owner of the flower field to experiment on two Sweet Flowers growing in a corner. That way, even if something went wrong, it wouldn’t affect the other flowers.
Nolan nodded as he watched Sucrose pour a little of the “healing ointment” onto the roots of one of the Sweet Flowers.
Suddenly, Nolan noticed movement.
Just as he thought the ointment was so powerful that the Sweet Flower would immediately start growing taller, the soil in the flower field cracked open.
The Sweet Flower that had been treated with the “healing ointment” jumped right out of the ground.
Its familiar appearance, along with the overwhelming elemental energy it emitted—
This was... a Cryo Whopperflower!
