[Superman] Chapter 207: The Arrogant "Kang the Doomed"
🕑 Added 2024-08-21 16:06:25 +0000 UTC"The Council of Kangs? A war across the multiverse? And they're going to oppose the council we’re about to establish?"
At that moment, upon hearing everything Peter had said, everyone present found it difficult to remain calm.
They had poured all their energy into preparing to establish a Multiversal Council to maintain harmony across the entire multiverse.
They never expected that a distant future descendant of theirs would create a new council with a completely opposing ideology, and that this new council would stand in direct conflict with theirs.
Now, their opponent was blatantly ignoring the rules of the universe and the paradoxes of time, attempting to thwart and destroy their efforts to establish the Multiversal Council by traveling through time.
"No matter what, the Multiversal Council is a goal we’ve all worked towards together. It is also the inevitable path to safeguarding the universe's safety."
"Absolutely no one can be allowed to disrupt the council we’re about to establish, inciting conflict and disturbing the peace that the multiverse has so painstakingly achieved!"
One of the Reeds, from the zombie universe where he never married Susan and didn’t care about having descendants, was the first to rise from his seat. With an impassioned tone, he expressed his current thoughts.
Of course, his motives weren’t entirely selfless. Once the Multiversal Council was established, countless geniuses from across the multiverse would be invited to join, working together to maintain balance and harmony throughout the multiverse.
At that time, the chaotic and apocalyptic universe he came from would be saved by these geniuses.
He would also have a greater opportunity to restore his world, a place overrun with madness and zombies, back to the peaceful and harmonious state it once knew.
So now, no matter who it was, he would never allow anyone to destroy the Multiversal Council they were about to create!
"I agree with him. No one can be allowed to derail our plans..." Dr. Otto, who initially thought this was just an ordinary assassination attempt, was completely shocked by the gravity of the situation.
Nonetheless, he stood by his unwavering belief in Peter’s leadership and didn’t hesitate to support the zombie Reed's stance.
"I also agree with them. Regardless of who the enemy is, even if it’s our future offspring, we must prioritize the safety of the universe above all else..." The next to speak was the Reed from the main universe.
Although he hadn’t yet married his beloved Susan due to his many responsibilities, he knew deep down that his future would be spent with her.
They would likely have children together, and although the universe was full of possibilities, and their descendants might not necessarily become a conqueror like Kang, his resolve remained unshaken.
"That’s right. Whether it’s our future offspring, someone else, or even another version of us from a different universe..."
"No one can be allowed to disrupt the harmony of the universe for their selfish desires!" The elder Reed from a future universe also slowly shared his perspective.
"Fine, I agree with you all. The peace we’ve worked so hard to maintain in the universe must not be easily destroyed by anyone..."
By now, four members had expressed their agreement that no one should be allowed to interfere with the establishment of the Multiversal Council and disrupt the harmony of the universe.
The remaining three, whether out of respect for the majority or due to their innate goodness and dedication to preserving the universe's balance, did not directly oppose the others.
Even if the adversary they might face was possibly their own future descendant...
"Excellent. I’m pleased to see that none of you have let familial ties blind you to the need to protect the harmony and safety of the entire universe..." Peter observed everyone’s reactions closely.
Although two of the Reeds seemed hesitant at first, they quickly solidified their resolve to maintain the highest pursuit of universal harmony after hearing the others' arguments.
"Hmm? That guy... he’s here already?"
At that moment, just as Peter was smiling, he suddenly sensed a disturbance in the timeline.
...
While Peter and the others were in the space station's conference room discussing issues of cosmic harmony and safety, something extraordinary was happening just outside the station.
In the quiet expanse of space, a sudden and intense spatial distortion occurred. The powerful distortion force, resembling a small black hole, warped the surrounding space and even bent time itself.
It was as if some entity from beyond the universe was attempting to invade this unique universe and its timeline.
A deep, resonating hum echoed through the previously silent universe, accompanied by the intense distortion.
The surrounding space seemed to vibrate continuously, as if the universe's original frequency had been forcibly rewritten. Gradually, a special portal to a particular timeline began to form.
With a final, deafening roar, the surrounding space appeared to reach the peak of its distortion.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the highly twisted space into this universe.
The figure was clad in a special suit of armor, a combination of purple and green, with a transparent visor covering his head, giving his face an eerie blue hue.
“Damn, the timeline of this universe is so resilient, and the cosmic barrier is so strong. Just crossing over here consumed an enormous amount of my energy…”
The blue-faced figure grumbled about the immense energy cost of traveling to this universe, his expression filled with irritation.
“But it’s all worth it. After today, I will become the most prominent member of the council. I will surpass those stubborn fools by single-handedly annihilating this massive organization that threatens the council's future…”
“In the 21st century, compared to the future, their technology is so primitive, like cavemen still fighting with spears.”
“How dare they challenge someone as great as me, the magnificent time traveler—Kang!”
As Kang spoke, a brilliant light suddenly flashed from his armor.
An immense energy began to flow from the suit, and in the quiet of space, a luxurious, technologically advanced fortress materialized in an instant.
“With the advanced technology I command, I will conquer this universe completely, becoming its true ruler and the supreme leader within the council!”
At Kang's feet, a throne slowly took shape, as if proclaiming his impending reign as the king of this universe.
...
The massive castle gleamed with a majestic silver light, floating in the quiet of space.
It appeared somewhat out of place yet undeniably awe-inspiring. Slowly, the castle began to move, as if it had become a warship and fortress under the command of Kang, who sat atop his ornate throne.
It advanced rapidly toward the nearby space station, which, compared to Kang's castle, seemed small and insignificant. The station soon came into full view before Kang, his gaze fixed on it with a sense of cruelty.
“This is supposed to be the supreme council that maintains harmony across the multiverse in the future? It’s so outdated!”
“To me, these things are nothing more than toys. They have no right to challenge someone as great as I am…”
After a brief scan, Kang discovered that the space station, renowned throughout the multiverse in the future, was shockingly primitive in his eyes.
Although it was more advanced than 21st-century technology, it was still as if primitive people had merely added some useless tech chips to their spears.
For Kang, who wielded technology from more than a dozen centuries into the future, it posed no threat at all.
“However, conquering it and this universe will make me famous in the council, granting me supreme glory and making me the most revered member. Perhaps, with that glory and reputation, I could overthrow the rule of those stubborn fools in the council and become the supreme leader!”
At that moment, as Kang envisioned ruling this universe and gaining immense honor in the council, his emotions grew wild with anticipation.
With a wave of his hand, countless high-tech devices from his castle shot through the boundless void, instantly surrounding the entire space station.
Perhaps due to the overwhelming technological superiority Kang possessed, the station’s alarms never even sounded, despite being completely encircled.
“Haha, this was far too easy!”
With his advanced technology sealing off the space station, preventing it from escaping through space or even the timeline, Kang's expression grew increasingly excited.
But in the next instant, his excited expression vanished, replaced by a terrifying madness on his eerie blue face.
“Now, be utterly destroyed, erased from the timeline!”
Kang thrust out both hands, aiming at the space station. Two terrifying beams of energy erupted from his armor’s palms, a mixture of blue and green, shooting through the stars and heading straight for the station.
...
Meanwhile, inside the space station, everything seemed completely normal, as if nothing unusual was happening.
The station’s AI, which controlled the entire facility, had not detected any of Kang’s prior actions.
It wasn’t until the moment Kang unleashed his terrifying energy attack, without any attempt to conceal it, that the AI finally realized the station was under attack.
“Warning, the space station is under attack by an unknown energy source. All personnel, please proceed to the nearest shelter immediately. Station energy is being reallocated to the defense system…”
Before the AI could finish its message, the station’s lights dimmed slightly, signaling that energy was being concentrated for defensive purposes.
In an instant, a massive energy shield flared to life around the station. This was the first time since its construction that more than fifty percent of the station's power had been utilized to create such a formidable shield.
Boom!
The moment the shield was fully deployed, Kang’s energy beam struck it with immense force, causing violent tremors and explosions.
Although the deafening roar couldn’t be heard in the vacuum of space, the destructive energy and shockwaves rippled outward, visibly impacting the surrounding area.
However, when the shockwaves encountered the advanced cloaking devices hidden in the void, they triggered these high-tech systems.
Buzz, buzz, buzz...
In an instant, a yellow energy field blossomed in space, forming a square matrix that completely encapsulated the station.
The explosion, powerful enough to obliterate a moon, was contained within this yellow matrix, unable to escape. The energy reverberated inside, repeatedly battering the station’s shield.
“What? This station’s defense system is advanced enough to withstand one of my attacks?”
Kang’s expression, usually filled with madness, now showed a rare flicker of surprise as he observed the shield, trembling and on the verge of collapse, yet holding firm against his assault.
“Hmph, it’s just a futile trick. The great Kang will show you what true despair means!”
The surprise on Kang’s face lasted only a moment before being replaced by a renewed sense of rage and insanity.
Buzz… Buzz…
In the next moment, his armor began to accumulate even more immense energy, preparing for a second, more devastating attack.
This time, he was confident that he would completely annihilate what he considered a meaningless toy.
...
"What on earth is happening? Why is our space station suddenly under attack?"
Inside the space station, the sudden and violent tremors caused by the energy assault finally made everyone realize they were under attack.
“Heh, it seems you’ve made some decent improvements to the defense systems, but there's still room for improvement…”
Peter, seemingly unfazed by the sudden attack, smiled at the others as if he had expected this all along.
“Sir, what exactly is going on? Could it be…”
Reed, who was closest to Peter, asked nervously.
“You should be able to guess what’s happening, but don’t worry, I’m here!”
Peter didn’t offer much explanation before disappearing from inside the space station.
Outside the station, within the yellow energy matrix, a figure suddenly appeared in the vacuum of space, facing Kang at a distance.
“Hm? Who is this guy?”
Kang, who had been gathering more energy, looked at the figure that appeared before him with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
“And you are? The so-called Conqueror Kang, who spends his time hopping through timelines and causing trouble?”
As Kang stared at Peter in confusion, Peter returned the gaze with amused interest.
“Damn you! How dare you insult the great Kang!”
Kang’s expression turned furious as he faced Peter’s disdainful look.
“Hahaha…”
But suddenly, the enraged Kang burst into maniacal laughter.
“A mere ant dares to look directly at a god? You’re overestimating yourself!”
After laughing, Kang’s gaze became filled with intense anger and brutality once again.
“That’s right, the one standing before you is the great time-traveler, the Conqueror of Universes, and the future ruler of the Council of Kangs…”
“The Council of Kangs… the future ruler? So, you’re just a small fry sent to die.”
Peter felt a bit disappointed, realizing that this version of Kang was just an arrogant minor character within the Council of Kangs.
In that moment, Peter mentally bestowed him with a special title: Kang - The Doomed!
