🕑 Added 2024-08-21 16:04:53 +0000 UTC"What? Related to me? How is that possible?"
Reed was taken aback when Deadpool suddenly looked at him with a hint of surprise on his face.
"Related to Reed? Could it be..."
Peter seemed to recall someone who indeed had a connection to Reed as he noticed the peculiar smile on Deadpool's face.
"Hehe, that's right. Although you don't know him yet, he's indeed inseparably connected to you..."
Deadpool said with a mischievous grin, deepening Reed's confusion and curiosity about this person he didn't know but was somehow connected to.
"Stop keeping us in suspense. Just tell me what's going on."
"If this person is really related to me, why would he send you to assassinate Dr. Otto? I'm certain that, no matter what, I would never do anything to betray Mr. Peter..."
Driven by strong curiosity, Reed could no longer remain calm. He stared intently at Deadpool's head and asked in a serious tone.
At this moment, he had to know everything, as he didn't want Peter to misunderstand him.
"Because that guy's name is Nathaniel Richards, from a distant future, and he is, in fact, one of your relative..."
Seeing Reed's anxiety, Deadpool stopped teasing and slowly revealed the identity of the person who sent him to assassinate Dr. Otto.
"No, that’s absolutely impossible! How could my relative be..."
When Reed heard the last name, he had a bad feeling, and as Deadpool continued, that bad feeling turned into reality.
But he couldn't accept it; he couldn't accept that his relative would turn out to be such a person.
"So it really is him, Kang the Conqueror..."
Peter had already guessed the identity of the person Deadpool mentioned earlier.
Now, Deadpool's words confirmed Peter's suspicions.
"Haha, what's so impossible about that? Your relative doesn't just want to murder a few insignificant people. He's ambitious—he even wants to start a war that could engulf the entire multiverse and completely conquer it!"
Deadpool looked at Reed's incredulous expression, and instead of offering comfort, he calmly revealed an even more ambitious plan involving Reed's relative.
"No, this can't be. Start a war across the multiverse? How could he do such a thing all by himself?"
At that moment, Reed found it impossible to believe what Deadpool was saying.
"Mr. Peter, this guy must be lying to us, trying to sow discord and suspicion between us..."
Reed, looking panicked, tried to explain to Peter. He believed that Deadpool was trying to drive a wedge between them.
"No, Reed, I believe him. In fact, in the infinite multiverse, there has indeed been a relative of yours with grand ambitions, aiming to conquer the entire multiverse..."
However, Peter remained calm as he spoke, expressing his belief in everything Deadpool had said.
...
"Heh, I didn’t expect you to look so cold, but you're actually pretty smart!"
Deadpool seemed surprised that Peter, who appeared somewhat aloof, completely believed what he had just said. He couldn't help but look at Peter with a face full of astonishment.
"Sir, could it be that you..."
Seeing that Peter had accepted Deadpool's words, Reed chose not to continue explaining but instead decided to trust Peter.
"Oh my God, if all this is true, then why would my relative do something so horrifying..."
Reed suddenly realized that his yet-unseen relative might be responsible for such an unthinkable act.
"Alright, I think I've understood the situation."
"Reed, notify the others and prepare for an emergency special meeting... Oh, and don’t forget to inform Dr. Otto as well since this all started because of him."
Although Peter had only learned the identity of the person behind the assassination attempt on Dr. Otto from Deadpool, he quickly pieced together the true reason behind everything.
Without hesitation, he instructed Reed before heading to the meeting room to await the others.
"I'll gather everyone right away... But sir, what should we do with this guy?"
Reed nodded solemnly, aware of the urgency of the situation, which could potentially turn into another massive crisis across the multiverse.
However, just as he was about to notify the others, Reed remembered the annoying presence of Deadpool and couldn’t resist asking Peter, who was already walking away.
"Lock him up in storage for now; he might still be useful later..."
Without even turning around, Peter gave instructions on how to deal with Deadpool.
"Understood, sir..."
Reed didn’t argue with Peter’s decision.
He slowly manipulated a special controller on his wrist, which resembled a watch.
Suddenly, a bluish glow began to shimmer on the once unremarkable table.
The blue energy quickly formed a transparent, glass-like energy shield that completely enclosed Deadpool's head.
"Damn it, you can't do this! You're imprisoning an innocent little boy! I'm going to report you to the author..."
Seeing himself trapped, Deadpool was filled with panic and anger, loudly protesting to Reed.
"You annoying guy, just behave yourself and reflect in storage for a while..."
Reed remained unfazed by Deadpool's odd complaints.
He pressed a button on the controller on his wrist, and the table slowly started moving, carrying Deadpool’s head toward a nearby metal wall.
Just as it was about to collide with the wall, the wall suddenly split open to reveal a pitch-black room.
"Whoa, no... I’m scared of the dark..."
Thud!
With the sound of the metal wall slamming shut, Reed finally could no longer hear Deadpool's irritating voice.
"If it weren’t for the fact that this guy is still useful to Mr. Peter, I would have smashed his head with a punch..."
Reed snorted coldly at the wall where Deadpool had disappeared, then turned without hesitation to notify the others about the emergency meeting.
On the other side, Deadpool was "terrified" as he was transported into the pitch-black storage room.
"Those two bastards, if I get out, I’ll make them regret this decision."
Deadpool thought angrily, already planning his revenge.
Suddenly, he sensed that the moving table beneath him had come to a stop.
"Damn it, why do I feel like something's watching me?"
Although surrounded by complete darkness and unable to see anything, Deadpool's keen instincts told him that something strange was nearby.
Bang!
"Ah, what was that?"
Suddenly, a loud crash, as if something had struck the glass shield, echoed through the eerie silence, startling Deadpool.
Of course, that is, if he could actually jump in his current state.
Buzz!
As the noise rang out, a light suddenly flickered on above him, revealing the source of the sound that had just startled him.
"Fuck, that’s disgusting..."
As the light illuminated the area, Deadpool could now see a revolting mass of black, sticky threads pressed up against the transparent energy shield just ten centimeters in front of him.
It seemed that whatever this thing was, it had tried to sneak up on him in the darkness, only to be blocked by the shield.
"This thing... it looks like the alien symbiote that parasitized that little bug..."
Having traveled across countless universes, Deadpool was naturally very knowledgeable, and it didn’t take long for him to recognize the gooey substance as the alien symbiote that once bonded with a Spider-Man in another universe.
"Shit, I demand a room change! I don't want to be this close to something so disgusting..."
In the next moment, Deadpool shouted into the silent room, but no one responded to him.
Until...
Thud!
Another sound, as if something had collided with the glass shield, came from behind Deadpool.
He twisted his neck, the new flesh slowly growing back, and gradually turned his gaze.
"Holy shit, it's that thing..."
Seeing the long, hideous creature slowly retreating from the glass shield behind him, Deadpool was filled with shock.
"Where the hell did they find all these disgusting creatures? They’ve got so many weird collectibles; it’s like a cosmic museum in here..."
After finally recovering from the surprise of seeing the Xenomorph, Deadpool noticed that the storage room was filled with all sorts of strange cosmic creatures.
"Fuck, am I going to end up as one of this guy's collectibles too?"
Suddenly, Deadpool seemed to realize the danger of his situation!
...
Soon, as Reed gathered the others, versions of Reed from different universes paused their respective activities and hurried to the meeting room. Besides these various Reeds, Dr. Otto also dropped what he was doing and rushed over.
"Gentlemen, I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’ve called you here today," Peter began, not hesitating once everyone had assembled.
"Just recently, Dr. Otto was attacked. The assailant was a mercenary from another universe known as Deadpool..."
"That annoying Deadpool?" one of the Reeds from another universe interjected, sounding surprised as he recognized the name.
"Yes, but Deadpool is irrelevant here. The important issue is the person who hired him for the assassination..." Peter continued, shifting the focus away from Deadpool. "A man named Nathaniel Richards, also known as Kang the Conqueror!"
"Nathaniel... Richards? Sir, does that mean...?" As Peter slowly revealed the name, every Reed in the room instantly noticed the shared surname, identical to their own.
They were shocked and astonished, and some seemed to have already guessed what Peter was about to say.
"You’re right in what you’re thinking. He is indeed one of your descendants..." Peter confirmed their suspicions, then dropped an even more shocking revelation.
"However, unlike you, this descendant of yours is not dedicated to maintaining harmony across the multiverse. Instead, he’s intent on starting a war that will engulf the entire multiverse!"
Peter’s words struck the Reeds like a bolt of lightning, leaving them utterly stunned.
It was only natural; after all, who wouldn’t be shaken upon hearing that their descendant might be responsible for the destruction of the universe?
It took nearly a minute for them to calm down and come to terms with the information Peter had just shared.
"Mr. Superman, please continue. Don’t let our familial connections affect your explanation—we need to know everything, no matter how harsh the truth might be," one of the Reeds finally spoke after a brief exchange among themselves, indicating they had reached a consensus.
No matter what the connection between them and this so-called Kang the Conqueror, they wouldn’t let it influence their response to the situation.
After all, Peter wouldn’t have called an emergency meeting if this matter didn’t pose a serious threat to the safety of the multiverse.
"Very well..." Peter was relieved by their reaction. It was no small feat to prioritize justice over blood ties.
"In fact, in some ways, this unique descendant of yours is engaged in similar work to yours..." Peter continued. "He, too, is devoted to creating a special organization that spans the infinite multiverse, known as the Council of Kangs!"
Recalling the infinite multiverses and the endless Kangs who banded together to form the Council of Kangs, Peter revealed yet another startling piece of information.
"What? The Council of Kangs? Is it similar to the Multiversal Council we’re about to establish?" All the Reeds were taken aback, even those who had already heard about Kang’s identity from Deadpool.
"Exactly, the Council of Kangs is much like the Multiversal Council we’re about to establish..." Peter confirmed.
"But unlike our council, which is dedicated to maintaining harmony and protecting the multiverse, the Council of Kangs was created to sow chaos and war across the multiverse, with the ultimate goal of controlling and ruling the entire multiverse..."
Peter understood that while the original purpose of the Council of Kangs might not have been to conquer the entire multiverse, the different variants of Kang, each from various timelines and universes, had different ambitions.
Just as He Who Remains had once defeated all the other Kang variants, unifying the timeline and creating the Sacred Timeline to prevent a multiversal war, the failure of his plan led to the resurgence of countless Kangs.
The re-establishment of the Council of Kangs was bound to result in a massive war across the multiverse.
"My belief is that Kang ordered the assassination of Dr. Otto and the disruption of our operations because the Multiversal Council we’re creating will be the biggest obstacle to his conquest of the multiverse!"
Peter continued, sharing his most honest thoughts with the others. "So, they’re trying to prevent us from successfully establishing the council or at least delay it, giving them enough time to ignite a war across the multiverse!"
With that, Peter revealed his innermost concerns to the group.
