[Genshin Impact] Chapter 253: The Gaze Beyond the Rift
🕑 Added 2024-09-07 16:00:12 +0000 UTCFirst of all, if the spatial rift is not maintained by some kind of power, the world will slowly repair it over time.
In other words.
Nolan just needed to figure out how to eliminate the green-eyed crows here.
Before leveling up, there was no way for him to do this. After all, the moment he made a move, he wouldn't be able to stay hidden. At most, he could release a single slash of sword intent using the "Lumine's Sword Intent" and then retreat.
Otherwise, he'd be swarmed by fireballs in the sky, and he definitely didn’t want to experience the corrosive effects of those fireballs.
But now, as long as he stayed five hundred meters away and launched an all-out attack, he had a chance.
By splitting his mental energy into over a dozen threads, each with the strength of 300 kilograms, he could swiftly sweep through the forest. This way, he could take down most of the weaker green-eyed crows without much trouble.
However, to be more cautious and to defeat even more green-eyed crows, Nolan decided to first max out his "Focus Technique" and further enhance his mental threads to see how powerful they could become!
"I have no way to deal with them. Do you have any ideas? Or should we go back and tell Ningguang?" Hu Tao poked Nolan’s arm with her index finger as she saw him deep in thought.
"Hmm, I’m thinking. Give me a moment."
Nolan glanced at the spatial rift and the green-eyed crows perched on the trees.
Without hesitation, he opened his character panel and invested his Adventure EXP into the "Focus Technique."
Adventure EXP -35,000
The Adventure EXP on his character panel suddenly dropped by 35,000, and the level 5 "Focus Technique" instantly rose to level 10, reaching its maximum.
Focus Technique Lv.5 (0/5000) → Focus Technique Lv.10 (Max)
Just like the "Concealment Form," once the "Focus Technique" reached its max level, it offered three different enhancement paths to choose from.
[Soul Fortification: Increases soul strength, greatly improving resistance to mental attacks and reflecting mental damage.]
The first option seemed to enhance mental defense, even including a "reflection" ability!
Nolan was slightly surprised by this.
This ability was quite appealing since the reflection alone was valuable. However, it leaned a bit towards defense.
It didn’t seem to offer much help in the current situation.
Before deciding, he needed to check the other two options to see if they were better.
[Split Focus: Slightly enhances mental power and thinking speed, allowing multitasking and simultaneous thought processes.]
Most people find it difficult to think about multiple things at once.
If he obtained this trait, Nolan could potentially unleash thousands of mental threads in an instant and wipe out all the green-eyed crows here.
Unfortunately, his mental power wouldn't support such a massive output.
Currently, Nolan could only manage around a hundred mental threads at most. Any more would pose a danger to his own mind.
Of course, he could reduce the strength of each tentacle to release more, but if they couldn’t defeat the crows, it would be pointless.
[Spirit Descent: Increases the recovery speed of mental power and allows control over other bodies that lack resistance and can accommodate mental consciousness, with no distance limitation.]
The final option was also easy to understand.
It allowed him to project his mental consciousness into others and control them.
Hmm, this seems pretty useful.
The “vessel” that can hold mental consciousness likely refers to various creatures. Having no resistance probably means the creature is unconscious or asleep.
If there were a powerful Rock Shieldwall Mitachurl nearby, Nolan could find a way to knock it out and then use his mental power to control it. He could then send it rampaging into the rift without showing up himself, and if it died, it wouldn’t matter.
Unfortunately, he had no idea where to find such a Rock Shieldwall Mitachurl.
As Nolan struggled over which option to choose, he suddenly thought of the golden phantom he could summon using his "Lumine's Sword Intent."
It would definitely meet the requirement of having no resistance, but whether it could accommodate mental consciousness was uncertain.
If that sword intent phantom could be controlled by him, well...
Nolan had already imagined the scene of it slaughtering everything here. This idea stayed with him, and he couldn’t shake it off.
He decided to give it a try.
If he could actually control the sword intent phantom, it would be much better than his original plan of using mental threads to sweep the area from 500 meters away.
After confirming his choice, Nolan naturally understood how to use "Spirit Descent."
"Let's go. I’ve thought of a good plan, but I need to test it first. Let's move a bit farther away."
Nolan said to Hu Tao.
Hu Tao crossed her arms and nodded; she had no objections.
The two of them retreated a full kilometer away to avoid being detected by the crows.
Once Nolan confirmed that there was no danger nearby, he deactivated his invisibility. Under Hu Tao’s curious gaze, golden light appeared around him, slowly forming into a three-to-four-meter-tall enlarged version of Lumine.
He attempted to use "Spirit Descent" on the sword intent phantom.
It worked flawlessly. Nolan’s consciousness effortlessly entered the golden sword intent phantom. Now, it felt like he was controlling two bodies at once.
The feeling was incredibly strange.
Nolan tried moving the sword intent phantom, and it didn’t disappoint. The enlarged Lumine separated from his synchronized movements and casually waved its sword on its own.
"So that's how it works. I didn’t expect you to have such a skill!"
Hu Tao seemed to understand that Nolan planned to use the sword intent phantom to cause trouble for the monsters. It was indeed a very safe method.
Hu Tao also had her own understanding of intent. She had mastered the "Afterlife Spear Intent," which was powerful—so much so that, in terms of pure attack power, it was far superior to Nolan's sword intent.
Unfortunately, it didn’t have the magical quality of his. Not only did it take on Lumine’s appearance, but now it could even move on its own. Wasn’t that a bit exaggerated?
"Just a little trick. Let’s head over and take a look."
While controlling the golden sword intent phantom to rush toward the spatial rift, Nolan activated "Concealment Form" again, making both of them invisible.
Without any external interference, he could maintain his invisibility.
At Wuwang Hill, near the spatial rift, where the green-eyed crows gathered.
The resting crows were suddenly startled by the brilliant golden light that rapidly charged into their midst. Their loud, screeching cries of "Caw caw" echoed through the air.
In the chaos, the green-eyed crows took flight, creating the illusion of a dark cloud overhead once more.
Countless green fireballs were launched toward the golden sword intent phantom, but every single one passed through without hitting it.
In the next moment, the three-to-four-meter-tall golden sword intent Lumine, under Nolan's control, raised its equally enlarged longsword and unleashed waves of sword energy at the airborne green-eyed crows.
Since only Nolan could attack while the enemy’s counterattacks were ineffective, the battle was utterly one-sided.
Half an hour later.
Realizing they couldn’t protect the spatial rift, the cunning crows appeared to be preparing to flee. Nolan, of course, wasn’t going to let them go.
As he controlled the golden phantom to pursue them, a loud “Caw!” suddenly echoed from the crack in the space.
A massive mental shockwave shot out, instantly shattering the phantom.
Before it disappeared, all Nolan had time to see was a pair of golden eyes staring at him from beyond the rift.
There was no time to think. He hurriedly warned Hu Tao to run!
