[Superman] Chapter 215: The Endless Universe Falls into Darkness
🕑 Added 2024-09-04 03:01:32 +0000 UTCTo alter time, one must first have a complete timeline.
Only then can Barry follow the timeline's progression to find the initial time node that solves all the problems, thus altering reality and influencing the predetermined future trajectory.
However, at this moment, with the sudden rupture of the timeline, his plan could no longer proceed.
The source of the darkness was unfathomable, as if it was intertwined with time itself.
The endless void and hollow reality left the Flash feeling somewhat at a loss.
As he fell into the endless abyss, it seemed that the Speed Force within him had become ineffective.
"Is it possible that I have to abandon the method of altering time and return to the recent reality to complete that all-or-nothing plan?"
In this moment of continuous falling into the void, the Flash seemed to have only this option.
But this made him feel incredibly unwilling.
Moreover, he found himself unable to control his body to return to the normal timeline and back to the future.
Buzz!
He didn't know how long he had been falling in this endless void.
It felt like an instant, yet it could have been thousands of years.
Suddenly, a brilliant blue light flashed, like the first ray of light appearing in the universe.
Whoosh!
The light illuminated the entire void and also the Flash, who was continuously falling.
"What is this?"
As the blue light flickered, Barry seemed to regain control of his body, and the Speed Force continued to flow through him.
Finally, he had the ability to manipulate the Speed Force to return to the future.
Yet, at this moment, the special blue light seemed to have an incredibly strong pull, drawing him closer and encouraging him to explore.
"Perhaps the answer to solving the crisis is hidden in this blue light!"
Barry had never seen such an inexplicable blue light on the timeline.
At this moment, he had crossed the end of this universe's timeline and fallen into its time discontinuity.
He couldn't help but speculate if this special blue light was causing the timeline of this universe to break inexplicably, preventing him from going further back into the past.
Driven by curiosity and the blue light’s allure, Barry cautiously approached the dazzling blue light.
As Barry extended his hand towards the blue light and finally touched its center.
Whoosh!
A powerful gravitational force, like a black hole, suddenly erupted from the blue light.
It instantly pulled Barry’s body into it.
"Where is this? What place is this?"
In the blink of an eye, the void that had been before Barry disappeared entirely.
In its place was a scene resembling a desolate desert.
The surroundings were filled with yellowed sand and scattered rocks of various sizes.
It was as if the entire world had turned into a barren wasteland at that moment.
He had been forcefully pulled out of the timeline and into this somewhat strange place, though he didn't know when it had happened.
...
As Barry marveled at and questioned the nature of his surroundings, a sudden, violent hurricane erupted across the desolate land.
The sand on the ground was instantly whipped up by the ferocious winds, churning like roaring waves, blocking out the sun and heading straight towards Barry.
“What is happening?”
Barry tried to escape rapidly but realized he had been completely surrounded by the hurricane without noticing when it had happened.
Around him, the hurricane raged, creating a stormy eye where only his area seemed calm.
He was entirely encased, making escape nearly impossible.
The relentless hurricane surged from all directions like a tidal wave, seemingly intent on pulling him into its vortex.
For a moment, Barry was powerless to resist, watching helplessly as the hurricane drew nearer.
Gradually, the swirling sand began to buffet Barry’s body.
The violent winds were almost right in front of him.
The storm of yellow sand had even entirely obscured his vision.
Suddenly, the entire world fell eerily silent.
The sweeping yellow sand and raging hurricane that had been advancing towards him vanished in an instant.
In its place, the environment around him underwent a dramatic transformation.
At this moment, Barry had no time to consider the changes in his surroundings.
He was too stunned by the figure floating in front of him, a calm presence hovering in the void, with hollow eyes that seemed devoid of any human emotion.
Most importantly, despite the figure's humanoid appearance, it emitted a blue glow that was eerily familiar to Barry.
“Did you pull me here from the timeline discontinuity?”
Barry looked at the enigmatic blue figure before him, which seemed human but lacked any human emotion, and couldn't suppress his intense curiosity as he spoke.
“The speedster who traverses the timeline, everything you are doing now is merely futile struggle…”
The figure’s hollow gaze fell upon Barry. The floating figure moved closer but did not answer Barry’s question directly. Instead, it seemed to be stating a foregone conclusion.
“You… seem to know why I am here?”
Barry’s pupils contracted in shock as he continued to ask.
“Of course. You seek to save this universe on the brink of destruction. But unfortunately, no matter what you do, you cannot save this universe doomed to be consumed by darkness!”
The blue figure's tone, while devoid of any special emotion, conveyed a unique sense of pity.
It was as if a deity were watching the world it had created heading towards its destruction.
“No, that’s impossible. How can you be so certain that nothing can be changed?”
Barry found it hard to believe the mysterious figure’s words. After all, he had traveled through the timeline to save this universe and had arrived here.
If everything he did was in vain, then this universe would inevitably be completely destroyed.
“Humans remain ignorant, unable to understand their own weakness or the inevitable and unchangeable nature of the universe’s development and destruction!”
The figure continued to look at Barry, speaking slowly. There was no hint of mockery in its tone.
Instead, it seemed filled with regret and compassion.
Regret for human ignorance, compassion for human weakness and helplessness.
“No, that’s not possible. The ignorant one must be you. Just recently, I altered the future of a universe on the brink of destruction and successfully saved a world from crisis.”
Barry was determined not to let his inner belief be shattered so easily.
It was his persistence and strong belief that had fueled his powerful resolve during the Darkseid crisis in his own universe, allowing him to traverse the timeline, alter the past, and change the future of the crisis.
“No, you have not truly succeeded. Soon, this universe, your original universe, and many universes in the multiverse will face real destruction.”
“I have seen that from this universe onward, ultimate and grand darkness will sweep everything away!”
The blue figure’s face remained expressionless, even as it spoke words that would shock anyone.
To make his words more convincing, he even used powerful telepathy to alter the surrounding scenery.
...
Under the blue figure's words, a brilliant light suddenly erupted from its body.
A blue aura rapidly spread outward.
In Barry's astonished gaze, any scene touched by the blue light instantly transformed.
In the blink of an eye, the desolate, Mars-like desert landscape disappeared, replaced by an endless void of darkness.
“What is happening…”
Barry looked around in disbelief at the changing environment.
Before he could even ask the blue figure what was going on, a massive blue planet slowly appeared in front of them, floating in the dark void like a beautiful planet hanging in the night sky.
“Is that… Earth?”
Without a doubt, Barry recognized the blue planet as Earth, the world he relied on for survival.
However, as the Earth slowly rotated, he saw the enormous, eerie black eye on its far side.
Numerous black tendrils extended from the eye, covering nearly a quarter of the Earth's surface.
Barry was not unfamiliar with this scene; it was the same eerie sight he had seen when he was just brought into this universe.
Now, it reappeared before him, evoking a strange feeling.
“This is the catastrophe this universe is experiencing.”
The blue figure looked at the scene with its usual expressionless face.
Then it extended its hand towards the dark-covered planet, slowly rotating it.
“Is this a future vision after the acceleration of time?”
Barry watched in amazement as the blue figure’s hand turned.
The extreme darkness on the blue Earth began to grow rapidly.
In less than a few seconds, it had expanded to cover a third of the entire planet.
Countless black tendrils, like a giant octopus, covered and entangled the blue planet.
Moreover, it seemed to be drawing endless vitality and energy from Earth, accelerating the spread of darkness.
Gradually, the once vibrant Earth seemed to be drained.
The power of darkness had grown to an almost unbelievable extent.
The massive dark force had completely covered the entire surface of the Earth.
The once blue and vibrant Earth had turned into a field of darkness, filled with a breath of death.
Eventually, Earth was completely consumed by darkness.
The power of darkness began to grow at an even faster rate, devouring everything around Earth and rapidly sweeping through the entire solar system and universe.
Suddenly, the image stretched before Barry, like a spacecraft fleeing from the darkness-consuming solar system, then the entire Milky Way, until finally, the whole universe fell into endless darkness.
A universe sphere filled with a dead and dark aura appeared before Barry.
It signified that everything in this universe had been completely engulfed by endless dark power.
“No, this is absolutely impossible. We can stop all of this from happening. Darkness will never overcome the light!”
Barry could not believe what he was seeing, even though it was all unfolding before him, he still denied it.
...
“No, this is not the end of everything, but the beginning of destruction!”
The blue figure did not care about Barry’s denial and slowly began to explain the more despairing truth.
As the first universe was completely eroded by extreme darkness, the dark power seemed to be invigorated.
Black threads began to emerge from the now entirely darkened universe, dense and eerie, like repulsive tendrils.
They spread out violently.
“How is this possible!”
Barry looked in shock at the sudden scene, his face involuntarily showing a hint of fear.
The black tendrils extending were targeting other individual universes.
These dense tendrils crossed vast distances, quickly and precisely wrapping around countless universes.
Almost encompassing all the universes in the multiverse.
In every other universe, a similar dark energy presence suddenly appeared.
It was as if it had been lurking in every universe, waiting for this moment to unfold.
The endless dark energy connected almost every universe in the multiverse, forming a bizarre and eerie spectacle.
Endless universes connected, with dark power continuing to sweep through each one.
Finally, the entire multiverse lost its final special glow and was entirely occupied by extreme darkness.
“Darkness has ultimately consumed everything!”
The apocalyptic multiverse scene left Barry stunned and speechless.
The blue figure, glowing with blue light, seemed to have witnessed this shocking scene countless times.
There was no change in its expression.
It had fully accepted everything, including the total annihilation of the multiverse.
“No, I absolutely cannot accept that everything ends like this. The future of the universe will be full of color; darkness can never swallow everything!”
At this moment, Barry could not accept that everything would end this way.
His body suddenly burst into endless golden lightning.
In an instant, his figure vanished from the scene.
“Futile resistance…”
The blue figure watched the place where Barry had disappeared, its expression remaining unchanged!
