[Superman] Chapter 202: The Child Who Creates Pocket Universes by Hand
🕑 Added 2024-08-16 19:30:01 +0000 UTCIn the DC Universe, the powerful Apokolips not only mastered the technology of using the Mother Box to create Boom Tubes for instant travel to any planet in the universe, but it also learned how to harness the power of technology to carve out a dimension independent of the universe itself.
Just like the numerous special dimensions in the Marvel Universe that exist separately from the main universe, Apokolips' technology allows for the creation of such independent spaces.
Now, in order to establish a true Multiversal Cosmic Council, this technology to open an independent dimensional space could be put to good use.
“However, even though we have the technology and nearly infinite energy, creating an independent dimension is not something that can be easily accomplished.”
“It may take us a long time to fully grasp this technology, and the planning for the Multiversal Council is also a very complex task…”
Despite the initial proposal to build the Multiversal Council in this newly created space, the execution of this plan was still filled with challenges. After all, mastering technology that surpasses your civilization isn't an easy feat.
“If only Superman could personally help us…”
Someone sighed, thinking about Peter, who had saved the entire multiverse. Although no one knew the full extent of his power, it seemed more than enough to create a special dimensional space.
“Yes, if Superman could help, that would be amazing.”
“I don’t think it’s necessary to trouble Superman with this. He just fought to save the entire multiverse. We should be putting in more effort ourselves to protect this universe at least.”
Naturally, if they could rely on their own abilities, they didn’t want to trouble Peter.
“Uh, I actually don’t think it’s that complicated, and we don’t really need Superman’s help…”
However, the Reed who had initially suggested creating a new dimension to house the Universal Council finally couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke up again.
“Hm? Do you have a better plan?”
Everyone turned to him, curious and waiting for him to continue.
“Well, how should I put this…”
Faced with their curious stares, this Reed seemed hesitant to speak.
“Everyone, we’re here to discuss feasible plans for establishing a massive council to safeguard the multiverse. Feel free to speak your mind—there’s no harm in being wrong,” said the Reed from Peter’s universe, encouraging him to let go of his hesitation and speak freely.
“Alright, I’ll say it then…”
Under the curious gaze of the others, this Reed, who happened to be a stay-at-home dad in his own universe, finally decided to share his thoughts.
“Do you believe… that a child only a few years old could create pocket universes by hand?”
...
"What? Creating universes by hand? And it's just a child?"
"Are you sure you're not joking?"
"Ahem, if you've been feeling tired lately, maybe you should take a break and get some rest…"
As soon as that Reed spoke, his statement was met with intense skepticism from the others. Some even seemed to think he was mentally exhausted and confused due to overwork.
"Alright, I knew you wouldn't believe me…"
The stay-at-home dad Reed looked helpless. The reason he hesitated earlier was because what he was saying sounded unbelievable to others.
In fact, if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have believed that his young child, only a few years old, possessed such terrifying power.
"Okay, everyone, let's not dismiss it just yet. Let's hear him out," said the Reed from Peter's universe. Although he also found such a thing hard to believe, he refrained from openly doubting it like the others and gave him a chance to continue.
"Well, as you all know, in my universe, I’m married to Susan, and we have a child named Franklin…”
The stay-at-home dad Reed finally revealed the secret he had accidentally discovered.
“You all know that our watches have the ability to detect abnormal energy fluctuations, right?"
“One evening, after I had just returned to my universe, the watch on my wrist started sounding an alarm, detecting a massive energy anomaly nearby."
“Without hesitation, I followed the signal to investigate where this abnormal energy was coming from…”
“Until I walked into my child’s room, and there, I finally found the answer.”
“I saw with my own eyes that my child, only a few years old, was holding in his hands an incredibly radiant energy ball, as dazzling as the night sky!"
"Without a doubt, given my current knowledge, I recognized instantly that it wasn’t a toy—it was a universe, a real pocket universe..."
"It was only at that moment that I realized how different my child was. He was born with the potential of a god, capable of creating anything, even pocket universes…”
As Reed slowly recounted everything, the entire conference room fell into complete silence.
They were all Reeds, each one essentially an alternate version of the others from different universes. They had similar lives, but their experiences in different universes had led them down distinct paths.
But hearing about this Reed’s child, they felt an odd sense of familiarity, as if he were their own child too.
"Are you sure that everything you’ve said is serious?"
At that moment, even the Reed from Peter’s universe, who had seen many extraordinary things, was shocked. Could the child of his alternate self and Susan in another universe really have such terrifying potential and talent?
“In fact, I still find it hard to believe myself. If possible, I would prefer that my child could grow up like an ordinary kid…”
The stay-at-home dad Reed looked worried. His child had always been different from others, but it wasn’t until recently that he discovered just how vast the difference was—so much so that it was unimaginable.
"Yes, if possible, I would want my child to grow up as a normal person too, without having to worry about the various crises the universe might face…"
As parents, everyone wished for their children to have special gifts. But for people like Reed, they wished their children could be more like ordinary people, at least so they wouldn’t have to constantly deal with the ever-present threat of cosmic crises.
"So, the reason I’m bringing this up now is not only to see if my child can contribute to the creation of the Multiversal Council, but also to ask that if the opportunity arises, you could help me solve the problem with my child."
"The vast power he possesses is already far beyond what can ensure his safety and that of those around him..."
At this moment, Reed’s child was like a baby holding a nuclear bomb, with access to the trigger. He had no idea how dangerous the power he wielded was, nor how much harm he could cause to the people around him, or even the entire Earth, if he used it recklessly.
"I think… we should inform Mr. Peter about this. He might have a way to help with the situation..."
...
"Franklin? The powerful mutant who can create universes by hand?"
Before long, Peter learned everything from their discussions. He quickly recalled that in certain universes, Reed's child did indeed possess such terrifying power.
Moreover, Franklin was said to be one of the most powerful mutants in the entire universe. From the moment he was born, he had an extraordinary gift. He was, from birth, an Omega-level mutant, the strongest of his kind.
He could travel through time and space, manipulate matter, alter reality, and even create new universes—a power as terrifying as that of the most omnipotent gods.
"Truly an extraordinary existence…"
Even Peter, in his current state, couldn't help but marvel at Franklin's strength. However, just as the others feared, such overwhelming power in the hands of a child who didn't fully understand it could be dangerous.
"I understand the situation, but there's no need for you to worry too much…"
Peter didn't seem overly concerned about Franklin. Even though the child had the power to destroy a universe, to Peter, he was just a kid who had only recently awakened to his abilities.
"Mr. Superman, can you solve the problem with my child? I don’t want his innocent actions to cause any great danger to those around him…" Reed, as Franklin's father, selfishly wanted to completely resolve the issue with his son.
"I can solve it, but I think it would be best to let him make that choice for himself," Peter responded, not immediately agreeing to Reed’s request.
Peter, after resolving the Infinite Ultron crisis, had not walked away empty-handed. By eliminating every Ultron across the infinite timelines, he had absorbed the power of all the Infinity Stones each Ultron had controlled.
Now, Peter's body contained nearly limitless power—far greater than that of the original Ultron who had wielded the Infinite Source.
If Peter were given enough time to fully master the power within him, he could rival the very gods of the multiverse—Eternity itself! Perhaps he could even surpass it!
So, even though Franklin had god-like powers, he posed no threat to Peter. Moreover, Franklin was still just a child.
If he wished, Peter could completely strip Franklin of all his power, rendering him an ordinary person. But even though Franklin was just a child, he still had the right to choose his own path.
"However, your idea of creating a separate dimensional space to establish the Multiversal Council is a good one…"
"When everything is ready, and you're about to begin, let me know."
Peter shifted the conversation away from the powerful child, Franklin, and back to the establishment of the Multiversal Council.
"Of course, sir. We will definitely inform you!"
…
And so, in the gradually peaceful universe, time continued to pass at its usual pace.
With Loki controlling all the timelines, everything began to flourish with vitality. The entire multiverse seemed to be moving towards a more prosperous era.
Even the multiverse itself appeared to be constantly expanding. One by one, new universes were being born in the vast void.
In the endless void, every orb representing a universe gradually became brighter, emitting an even more dazzling and intense light.
The endless stars of the multiverse connected with each other, forming a magnificent and infinite constellation—like a beautiful cosmic tapestry, writing a brilliant, infinite sky.
It was as if the infinite universe had transformed into Eternity, growing with the cosmos at every moment.
However, far beyond the barriers of the multiverse, in the realm of infinite void…
A figure of boundless darkness gazed through the great omniversal barriers, peering into the reality of the Marvel Multiverse.
"Heh, it seems that universe narrowly survived a catastrophic crisis…"
"And it has forced me to delay my previous plans for quite some time…"
A figure seemingly formed from endless dark energy stared at the Marvel Universe beyond its own. It seemed to know that the entire Marvel Multiverse had just survived a massive, near-apocalyptic crisis.
And it had come through safely.
"But that's fine. A more prosperous and grand universe will be even more delicious to devour!"
Yet, within that dark figure, which contained a darkness more extreme than the deepest parts of the universe, waves of dark energy surged as if in excitement.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, the entire dark figure dissipated into nothingness.
The endless darkness transformed into streams of black smoke, moving effortlessly through the entire DC Multiverse.
These threads of extreme darkness passed through the multiversal barriers, infiltrating countless Earths within various multiverses.
Some strands of darkness even penetrated the Source Wall, which encapsulated the entire multiverse, and flowed through the Orrery of Worlds, which represented the entire multiverse.
They seeped into the endless dimensional spaces beyond the multiverse.
All of this happened in an instant, with almost no one able to notice.
Even the true form of Darkseid, whose infinite avatars were scattered across the multiverses, residing outside the multiverse in a special dimensional plane, did not detect a wisp of dark energy that had already, without anyone's knowledge, merged into his own Apokolips.
The strands of dark energy did not cause any immediate, noticeable events upon merging. They seemed to have completely gone dormant.
However, it was not without consequence. Within the endless multiverse, a unique force seemed to be gathering and brewing.
It was as if a storm was about to sweep across the entire DC Omniverse.
