[Superman] Chapter 201: The Establishment of the Cosmic Council
🕑 Added 2024-08-15 17:38:03 +0000 UTCWith Ultron now truly and completely erased, the massive crisis that had swept across the multiverse and timelines was also perfectly resolved.
The endless timelines radiated brilliant light. A sacred golden glow rose from the timelines, like a golden star illuminating the void.
Whoosh!
The golden light drifted and slowly coalesced into a figure.
Peter separated himself from the timelines and returned to the present moment.
"Sir, thank you for completely resolving this crisis," Loki said with a faint smile, expressing his gratitude to Peter, who had saved the entire universe.
"No need to thank me. Perhaps the entire multiverse should be thanking you for your sacrifice at this moment…"
"After all, you paid a tremendous price to save the multiverse, and from now on, you might have to face eternal solitude…"
Gazing at Loki seated on the throne, who now controlled and safeguarded all timelines, both knew what unbearable loneliness and fate awaited Loki in the future.
Though at this moment, he was undoubtedly the God of Time, controlling every timeline. His will could perceive everything happening across all timelines. Yet, he himself could never escape the void of time, could never return to the once beautiful world, or see his friends again.
"Eternal solitude, huh?"
The smile on Loki's face didn’t fade. From the moment he had volunteered to take control of all timelines, he had understood and accepted the consequences of his decision. Now, he had finally become the god he had once yearned to be, though it had cost him dearly.
"No, I am not alone!"
"Though my body is confined and I have lost my former freedom, my soul has transcended. I can witness the brilliance of time, the prosperity of the universe, the flourishing of civilizations…"
"And everything I once loved, yet ultimately lost…"
Loki's expression showed no fear of the eternal loneliness he would endure. Instead, it was calm, even tinged with anticipation.
For the present moment, he had indeed lost his freedom and was forever bound here. However, though his body was imprisoned by time, his soul was not. His consciousness could travel through endless timelines. His eyes could witness the rise and fall of the universe and everything that transpired across the infinite timelines.
He could see his beloved and respected brother, Thor, still fighting fearlessly, occasionally thinking of him.
He could see his deceased mother, alive in some timelines, still caring for a younger version of himself who was yet to fully understand the world.
He could see that his father, whom he once thought didn’t care for him, had, in fact, held great hopes for him after adopting him, hoping that one day he could become the king of the Frost Giants and, together with his brother, protect the peace of the Nine Realms.
He could see his friends like Mobius, still guarding the TVA in the future, protecting the safety of all timelines.
And his love…
In short, at this moment, Loki did not feel lonely, nor had he ever regretted his choice.
...
Not long after, the multiverse, once on the brink of destruction, began to settle down again.
On Earth.
Thor gazed up at the dark night sky, where the faint silhouette of the World Tree shimmered brilliantly. His eyes held a trace of longing and an inexplicable sense of admiration.
“Loki, my brother, I am proud of you. I believe our parents would feel the same, immensely proud of your courage and sacrifice!”
Thor could hardly imagine that his once cunning and deceitful brother would achieve something so magnificent just recently. However, Thor didn’t doubt Loki because of his past mistakes. He believed that deep down, his brother was not irredeemable.
Just like now, Loki had given up his freedom and everything else to save the entire multiverse.
“And thank you, Mr. Superman. If it weren’t for you telling me, I could never have imagined that my brother had done such a heroic deed…”
As Thor felt proud of Loki's actions and prepared to thank Peter for bringing him this news, he noticed that Peter had silently vanished without a trace.
Thor wasn’t concerned by this. He turned his gaze back to the sky.
There, the illusion of the World Tree was slowly fading, but at that moment, Thor seemed to see a familiar face gazing back at him from afar.
...
“Mr. Superman, has the recent cosmic crisis really been completely resolved?”
Inside a space station, several Reeds were filled with surprise after Peter's update.
They had just been preparing to follow their plan to save the entire universe. Yet, to their astonishment, the crisis that had been threatening the entire cosmos was resolved by Peter in the blink of an eye.
“I wouldn’t deceive you. The crisis has indeed been resolved…” Peter calmly confirmed that the danger was truly over.
“Incredible…”
“Fantastic!”
“The universe is finally at peace again!”
With Peter’s confirmation, the Reeds couldn’t help but show expressions of excitement. The crisis that had loomed over the entire universe had weighed on them like a mountain. Now that it was resolved, they felt an immense sense of relief.
“However, although this crisis has been successfully resolved and the multiverse has returned to peace… it might only be temporary. A greater crisis may be on the horizon…”
After delivering the news about Loki to Thor, Peter had returned to the space station. He immediately informed the Reeds that the multiverse had regained its tranquility, hoping to alleviate their concerns about its safety.
But deep down, Peter knew that while this sudden cosmic crisis had been dealt with, bringing a brief moment of calm to the universe, he had a foreboding feeling that another, equally dangerous crisis was on its way.
So, they couldn’t afford to be complacent.
“You’re right, Mr. Superman. Your warning is well taken. I used to think that a universe-spanning crisis was far beyond our reach, but everything that just happened has left us all feeling powerless.”
“With our current abilities, if not for you, Mr. Superman, we wouldn’t have had any chance of resisting a crisis that could engulf the universe.”
Though the immediate danger had passed, the Reeds were now acutely aware of their own limitations. Despite their technological prowess, which seemed to transcend the boundaries of the universe and allowed them to observe the vast multiverse, the more they knew, the more helpless they felt.
In the face of a crisis that could devastate the universe, their once-proud technology had proven incapable of stopping the impending disaster.
“That’s true. It seems we can’t let our guard down…”
“Perhaps we should continue with our original plan. Using the Mother Box and advanced technology provided by Mr. Superman, we can truly establish a powerful multiversal technology council capable of countering any cosmic threats…”
One of the Reeds slowly voiced his thoughts. Although the universe-wide crisis had been resolved, their previous plan to use powerful technology and energy to connect countless individual universes across the multiverse shouldn’t be abandoned halfway.
“I agree with continuing the plan, because with our current strength and abilities, we cannot fend off crises that could destroy the universe…”
“I agree as well…”
The six Reeds, each from different universes, had all experienced the overwhelming powerlessness when faced with severe threats. At that time, they felt as if they could only sit and wait for the crisis to obliterate their universe and homes.
They never wanted to feel that helplessness again.
“The plan should indeed proceed, but perhaps this time, we can be a bit bolder…”
“For instance, by establishing a true Multiversal Cosmic Council…”
One of the Reeds, after some thought, proposed an even more ambitious idea.
…
A few days later.
Peter saw that Reed and the others' plan had successfully moved forward. The Mother Box and Apokolips technology brought from the DC Universe had also integrated smoothly. Although some of the technology might fail due to the unique rules of this universe, fortunately, most of it worked perfectly in the Marvel Universe.
The nearly infinite energy of the Apokolips Mother Box provided tremendous support for their advancements. While Reed and the others excitedly studied the vast new technologies and knowledge from Apokolips, Peter took some technology related to Parademons and Doomsday and headed to another secret space station.
There, he met Professor Connors, who had been eagerly awaiting Peter's arrival to begin a special experiment.
"Sir, are you sure all this technology is real?"
Handing over all the biological technology related to Parademons and the entire developmental process of Apokolips, Peter instantly shocked Professor Connors. If Connors hadn't been in his prime and his body hadn’t undergone some modifications, the advanced complexity of the biological technology alone might have made him dizzy from excitement.
If it weren't for Peter, how could Earth, a civilization only thousands of years old, possibly glimpse the technological achievements of Apokolips—a civilization that had developed to godlike levels?
The immense gap between the two civilizations was the reason why Professor Connors was so deeply moved. Compared to Apokolips' technology, his prior studies in biology seemed like comparing a firefly to a star.
"Of course..."
Peter calmly confirmed as he watched the excited Professor Connors.
"This is... simply unbelievable!"
"If this technology is real, then biology on Earth will experience a revolutionary leap forward. Human immortality may no longer be just a dream..."
Although Connors had only skimmed a small portion of the vast biological data, he could already see that if it were real, human civilization would rapidly develop and evolve. Even immortality might no longer be just a distant hope. The technology he had previously prided himself on—regenerating limbs—was almost worthless compared to this.
"Alright, you should start with some basic research on these materials. As for that experimental plan, let’s put it on hold for now..."
"If we proceed with the original plan, we might not succeed, and worse, we could lose control of him entirely..."
Peter had originally intended to start the Hulk enhancement project before heading to the DC Universe, but now he had a better idea in mind. Combining Parademon and Doomsday technology would create a much more promising plan.
"Don’t worry, sir. I'll make sure to grasp this technology as soon as possible..."
Some scientists would even sacrifice their lives to uncover answers to the universe's greatest mysteries. It's a drive to seek knowledge, an insatiable desire to understand.
While Professor Connors wasn’t quite so extreme, he had a strong thirst for scientific exploration. If Peter hadn't been there, Connors would have already immersed himself in the ocean of scientific knowledge, losing himself completely.
...
After handing over the Apokolips biological data to Professor Connors for research, Peter didn't linger.
From that point on, significant changes began happening throughout the entire Star Tech company.
Top scientists from various fields received highly confidential technological data tailored to their areas of expertise.
Without a doubt, Peter's company was almost single-handedly driving the advancement of human civilization. Of course, access to the most critical technologies remained limited to a select few that Peter trusted the most.
For instance, Reed and his team, who had access to all the technological data, were already using advanced technology to prepare for the establishment of a true Multiversal Council connecting the endless multiverses.
However, with nearly infinite individual universes in the multiverse, establishing the council posed an enormous challenge.
At the very least, the core of the council couldn’t be based in any single universe’s reality. Otherwise, if that universe encountered a disaster, the entire council could be wiped out in an instant.
"Perhaps we should create a special dimension to house the upcoming Multiversal Council!"
During a discussion on the establishment of the Multiversal Cosmic Council, one of the Reeds suggested creating a new council in a special dimensional space that could connect all universes.
"Hmm, I think this proposal is feasible."
"But do we really have the capability to create an independent dimension separate from the universe?"
While everyone agreed with the proposal, they had some doubts about its feasibility.
"Perhaps with our previous technological capabilities, we wouldn't be able to create such a special dimensional space. But not long ago, while reviewing the vast technological data, I came across something very unique. This technology might just be what we need to create a special dimension in the void, independent of all universes..."
