[Superman] Chapter 199: The God of Time and Stories!
🕑 Added 2024-08-12 09:47:28 +0000 UTCAs countless timelines withered and faded away, the residual time radiation swept over Loki's body. His clothes, worn through endless ages, gradually decayed.
But then, a brilliant green light suddenly burst forth from his body.
The green light enveloped Loki, transforming into an elegant and regal new outfit. A green cloak billowed behind him, and two golden horns slowly grew atop his head, resembling the crown that symbolized Loki's reign.
From that moment on, it was as if Loki had completely shed his mortal form, achieving the true essence of a god.
With a resolute gaze, he walked towards the figure ahead, gathering the countless withering branches of time along the way. Trails of green light flowed and blossomed along the fading timelines, as if they were slowly regaining life.
At the same time, Peter, who had destroyed the Temporal Loom, was also steadily gathering the scattered branches of time. Sensing Loki's approach, Peter couldn't help but smile.
"He actually made this choice... Can a person truly change so profoundly?"
Even as Peter and Loki worked together to save the timelines and the universe, Peter found it hard to believe the immense transformation in Loki.
The Loki of the past was the embodiment of deceit and trickery; even his friends, family, and his brother Thor had been betrayed by him countless times.
It was difficult to trust the infamous God of Mischief.
Despite sensing a shift in Loki's character during their previous interactions, Peter still couldn't be sure whether it was genuine or just another carefully crafted deception—an elaborate ruse designed to win your trust, only to stab you in the back when you least expect it.
Even now, as Peter gathered the withering timelines and infused them with his energy to restore their vitality, he remained cautious, watching Loki's actions closely, always on guard against a potential betrayal.
...
"All the timelines are on the brink of extinction..."
"What exactly are they trying to do?"
In the grand hall, the onlookers stared at the many withering timelines, which were gradually deteriorating into tangled vines due to the collapse of the Temporal Loom. Their expressions were filled with shock.
"Look, what is that?"
Then, they saw Peter and Loki, in unison, gathering all the near-dead timelines and channeling their energy into them, reviving the withered timelines.
However, the manifestation of their energies was different: golden and emerald green light flowed through the timelines, gradually merging.
The tangled timelines began to take on golden and green hues, slowly intertwining.
"Are they planning to use their own powers to revive all the timelines?"
"But how is that possible? Only true gods could achieve such a feat. A mortal body could hardly accomplish something so audacious!"
Mobius was astonished; he could hardly fathom what kind of being could accomplish such an incredible feat.
"No, you've all forgotten that Loki himself possesses the godly power that mortals revere..."
"And now, he seems to have truly found his glorious purpose as a god and is about to transform into the supreme deity!"
Sylvie's eyes were fixed on Loki's back, filled with admiration and strong anticipation.
At this moment, Loki and Peter had each gathered the myriad timelines.
The two were holding the endless branches of time in their hands, slowly merging them together.
The vine-like timelines intertwined in the void, glowing with golden and emerald green light, brimming with vitality, and seemingly endless.
"Mr. Peter, our plan might need some changes!"
After a long gaze at each other, Loki finally spoke, his expression resolute.
"Oh? Do you have a better proposal?"
Peter's plan was to gather all the timelines, merge his powerful energy into them, locate the hidden Ultron within each timeline, and then eradicate them completely. This was to save all the timelines and the entire universe.
The plan was straightforward but rather blunt. It only required Peter himself to execute it.
As for Loki, his role was to watch the process and ensure no unforeseen disruptions from others.
However, Loki had clearly changed his earlier decision.
"Sir, it's not that I doubt your ability to erase the Ultron from all the timelines, but we both know this is the final hope for the entire multiverse and all timelines. If there's even the slightest chance, we must give it our all!"
Loki spoke with determination. He knew that Peter was preparing to save the entire multiverse on his own.
Yet, managing and protecting all the timelines while simultaneously traversing the endless timelines to find and eliminate the Ultron required immense power and control.
Just imagining it conveyed how immense the required power and control would be.
Separating the tasks of managing and maintaining the timelines from eliminating the Ultron would undoubtedly increase the success rate of the plan.
Thus, Loki proposed revising the plan.
"So, I hope you will dedicate yourself to the plan of eradicating the Ultron, and leave the task of managing and maintaining all the timelines to me!"
Loki's eyes were clear and serious as he looked at Peter.
"Are you serious? Do you understand what this means for you?"
If it weren't for the profound change Peter had witnessed in Loki, he wouldn't have considered Loki's proposal at all.
After all, no one knew if Loki harbored some special scheme.
No one knew if he might use this opportunity to realize his ambition of ruling all timelines and the entire universe.
"Of course, I understand the consequences of this choice..."
Loki showed no hesitation, fully aware of what his choice meant.
"Perhaps, since my birth, I have been destined to fulfill this glorious purpose at this very moment."
Suddenly, a faint smile appeared on Loki's otherwise serious face.
He recalled his past, the things he regretted doing in his pursuit of the Asgardian throne against Thor.
It was only now that he truly realized what he wanted—not the supreme throne, nor to become an omnipotent god, but to have a truly meaningful life.
"Perhaps, certain events and experiences really can change a person's essence..."
Peter's searching gaze remained fixed on Loki, seeing a strong sincerity and hope in his clear eyes.
Peter even used his power to observe possible future timelines emerging from Loki.
He found that, unlike before, there were no more uncertain future choices or timelines appearing around him.
The only explanation for this situation was that this person had no future...
Or perhaps...
A person can truly change their essence due to certain experiences.
"Or maybe, this is his true essence..."
At that moment, Peter decided not to remain cautious about Loki.
He was prepared to agree to Loki's proposal, allowing him to truly participate in the plan to save the universe and the timelines.
To complete that glorious purpose.
...
“What are they doing?”
Before Peter could agree to Loki's proposal, the others looked on with confusion.
The two had successfully revived the endless timelines, bringing a glimmer of hope to everyone.
But now, it seemed as though they were facing some sort of dilemma, which made the onlookers uneasy.
“The Temporal Loom… Yes, the Temporal Loom has been destroyed. Even if they manage to rejuvenate the timelines, they still can’t truly save all of them.”
Suddenly, the Asian man who had written the TVA guidelines seemed to have an epiphany. With a look of regret, he slowly spoke, revealing the reason why the plan to save the timelines would ultimately fail.
“Is there no chance to rebuild a new Temporal Loom?”
Mobius looked at the golden and green light interwoven in the timelines, his eyes flashing with reluctance.
“I’m afraid not. First, rebuilding the Temporal Loom would take too much time…”
“And even if we could build a new Temporal Loom, it would only return the problem to the same issues we faced before…”
He did not continue, but everyone understood what he was implying.
“The Temporal Loom could never manage the infinite growth of timelines…”
Indeed, even with a new Temporal Loom, it would be unable to handle the ever-multiplying timelines.
Everything would eventually return to square one.
“Are we doomed to fail?”
Sylvie looked at the two figures, who were still and seemingly devoid of hope, with a sorrowful expression.
“Wait, what are they doing?”
Suddenly, as everyone was despondent over the impending return to destruction, the two outside finally began to act.
Peter and Loki were seen slowly drawing together all the timelines they had collected, pulling them towards the center as if preparing to connect them all.
“Wait, are they planning to use themselves as a replacement for the Temporal Loom? To dedicate their lives to maintaining the safety of all timelines?”
At that moment, Victor, the Black man, seemed to realize something, his face changing drastically.
Using themselves as a substitute for the Temporal Loom, while it might be feasible, meant that…
“They would endure endless loneliness with no time limit…”
“A madness that borders on eternal solitude…”
...
“Are you really ready? Next, you must do everything you can to maintain the vitality of the timelines before I completely erase all the Ultron, and even after I complete the plan…”
The two streams of timelines, glowing in different colors, were now only a few inches apart from each other, ready to connect.
Peter turned to Loki for one last question.
“Peter, please trust me!”
Without waiting for Peter to finish speaking, Loki forcefully moved the collected streams of timelines in his hands toward Peter’s.
Voom!
The two glowing streams of timelines touched with a sudden jolt.
Instantly, an incredibly powerful force of time erupted.
At this moment, the endless power of time truly revived its full vitality.
The green energy spread outward with the timelines.
The golden light, however, tightly enveloped the green timelines, spreading along with them.
The golden light wrapped around the flowing green energy, making all the timelines seem sacred and inviolable.
Meanwhile, Peter’s figure slowly became ethereal, transforming into a dazzling golden light, dispersing with the vital energy in the timelines, spreading across each timeline.
“They… they actually did it, incredible!”
Everyone watched as all the timelines were completely reactivated, each one now appearing sacred and untouchable, their faces filled with shock and joy.
“Loki…”
Only Sylvie thought about Loki, who was now replacing the Temporal Loom and managing all the timelines, and the endless, maddening solitude he would face in the future.
Voom!
The vast power of time coursed through Loki’s body.
At that moment, he seemed to become a true deity.
Representing all hope, traversing past and future, maintaining the entire timeline as the God of Time.
“A universe destined for destruction? No, I will use my way to personally write a better future!”
Endless power of time merged with Loki’s body.
At this moment, he seemed inseparable from time, able to perceive and observe everything happening on each timeline.
He could see the impending future, where all timelines seemed doomed to destruction because of the infinite Ultron.
But he did not feel despair, nor did he give up.
He was ready to use his own hands to write a new story and future for the entire universe…
At this moment, all the timelines connected to Loki’s body, forming a cloak behind him.
Loki’s gaze was determined as he looked back at his former friends, then without hesitation, he slowly turned and walked into the realm of decay and endless darkness.
The endless timelines drifted in the void with Loki’s actions, merging into the boundless void.
Meanwhile, Peter, now transformed into golden energy, had split into countless forms, appearing in every timeline branch.
“Infinite Ultron? I’m sorry, but your dream of destroying the universe ends here!”
Endless avatars, each carrying this strong conviction in their minds!
