[Superman] Chapter 184: Superman’s Revival, Humanity Needs You!

Everyone was busy preparing for the impending world crisis.
Each member traveled across different locations, recruiting individuals with special abilities they had recently discovered.
The results were mixed. Some were eager to join this special organization to save the world, while others outright refused. Some even claimed that the world's fate had nothing to do with them.
However, they had expected these outcomes.
Thus, the hastily assembled special team was no longer just the original five; it had grown to include over a dozen members.
Even so, despite their apparent increase in strength, they all knew it was still uncertain whether this makeshift team could withstand the looming crisis.
More importantly, their team lacked a crucial core member.
"I think we all know it's time to proceed with the final step of our plan."
In an underground conference room within a certain Batcave, the five founding members of the Justice League gathered.
Batman’s gaze swept over the group before he spoke slowly.
"Are we really going to do that? It would mean breaking the rules of the universe to revive the dead!"
In truth, Batman had proposed this final step even before they started recruiting members. However, until this critical moment, the group had hesitated to fully commit to it.
"Breaking the rules doesn't matter. After all, Barry being here has already broken the universe's rules of time."
Aquaman wasn't concerned about cosmic rules. Since the Flash could travel through time to prevent Earth’s fall, breaking another universal rule didn’t seem significant.
"Everyone can rest assured, in the previous timeline, we already attempted this plan together and succeeded."
"Unfortunately, our preparations weren't adequate at the time, and we weren't fully confident in reviving the dead."
The Flash’s eyes reflected a hint of reminiscence.
The scenes from the previous timeline were still vividly etched in his memory.
He would never forget the moment they used the Mother Box to revive Superman, bringing new hope to the world.
However, while they did manage to bring back the godlike figure, their preparations were insufficient. After experiencing death and resurrection, Superman’s mind was not fully clear.
It took a long period of confusion before he finally regained his memories from before his death.
By then, Steppenwolf had already collected all the Mother Boxes and merged them.
The fusion of the three Mother Boxes instantly turned the entire world into a fiery hell.
Flames consumed the earth, and countless people were transformed into Parademons by the power of the Mother Boxes.
As Superman finally regained his senses, he joined the surviving heroes in a fierce counterattack against the Parademon army, pushing them back significantly.
Unfortunately, Steppenwolf, seeing his defeat, opened a portal to Apokolips and summoned the dark tyrant that instilled fear across the universe: Darkseid.
His crimson eyes unleashed Omega Beams like fiery lasers, slaughtering countless surviving heroes, including Aquaman and Wonder Woman, who all perished at Darkseid's hands.
An enraged Superman engaged in an epic battle with Darkseid.
In the end, Darkseid exploited Superman's only remaining vulnerability: his love for Lois Lane, awakening the darkness within him and ultimately controlling Earth’s strongest hero.
That day, the sky was engulfed in darkness, and humanity lost its final glimmer of hope…
---
"For our world, for all the life on this planet, and to reverse the future where we are doomed to fail, we must do this now!"
Batman's gaze was unwaveringly firm. Not long ago, due to a difference in ideals with Superman, he had almost single-handedly caused Superman's death.
It was only afterward that he realized humanity might not need a god, but humanity does need Superman! Reviving Superman this time was his way of making amends for past mistakes.
It was also for the entire Earth and the future of all humankind.
He had to do this.
"Victor."
With a resolute expression, Batman signaled to Cyborg.
"I’ve been ready for this!"
Thud!
With Cyborg's action, a mysterious metal cube, about several centimeters in size, was placed on the table in front of them.
"Can this iron box really bring the dead back to life?"
At this moment, everyone's eyes were fixated on the box. Aquaman, with his straightforward nature, couldn't help but doubt whether this box truly had the power to reverse death.
"This is the Apokoliptian Mother Box we’ve talked about. There are three on our Earth."
"And this one was once kept by humans."
"My father has been studying it..."
Cyborg looked at the Mother Box with a complex expression.
"It’s because of this that my father used the Mother Box to create the person I am today after my car accident!"
Cyborg slowly raised his silver, metallic arm. Although this new body was far more powerful than a human's, he still found it hard to accept.
"Victor, this might also be a kind of gift. Without you as you are now, we wouldn't be able to revive the fallen Superman or save the doomed Earth and humanity."
"Your father wasn’t wrong; he just didn't want to lose you..."
The Flash could understand Cyborg's feelings and gently comforted him.
As if by some coincidence, none of those present had a perfect family anymore.
Wonder Woman didn't need much explanation. Her father was Zeus, the king of gods, and since her birth, she had almost never seen him. Nearly a century ago, she had even fought and defeated her brother with her own hands!
Aquaman had a similar story. As the unique offspring of a human and an Atlantean, his mother was taken back to Atlantis by the royal family when he was still young and had been imprisoned in darkness ever since, unable to see him.
The Flash's childhood was also filled with tragedy. An accident disrupted his once harmonious life, with his mother murdered by a mysterious figure and his father wrongfully imprisoned, unable to clear his name to this day.
As for Batman, it’s well-known that each time a new actor portrays Batman, it symbolizes that, on some night, another set of parents was killed during a robbery.
...
In the end, the group decided to use the Mother Box in their possession to resurrect humanity's former god before Steppenwolf arrived. Although the process required a highly detailed and specific plan, they first exhumed Superman's body.
Then, they brought Superman's body and the Mother Box to S.T.A.R. Labs. After a rather complex procedure, they used Kryptonian ship technology and the Mother Box's ability to alter the essence of matter and reshape everything, combined with the Speed Force generated by the Flash's high-speed running.
After executing the plan flawlessly, they successfully revived Superman, the former protector of humanity!
Bang!
As a figure shot out from the S.T.A.R. Labs building, Superman floated in the air, looking down at the world before him, which felt both familiar and strange. His eyes were filled with confusion.
"Oh my God! What is that?"
"Wait... that figure, could it be?"
"That's right, it's Superman! Unbelievable, Superman has returned!"
As the nearby people were drawn to the floating figure in the sky, causing a stir, a car happened to drive by. Suddenly, the car stopped, and a woman stepped out.
"Is that Clark? How is this possible!"
Lois had recently received an unexpected message, telling her to go to S.T.A.R. Labs, where a surprise awaited her.
"Lois?"
At the same time, the confused Superman in the sky seemed to sense something and looked towards Lois on the ground.
Bang!
In the next instant, with a loud sonic boom, Superman's figure disappeared, and with him, Lois vanished from the ground.
"Did our plan succeed?"
Meanwhile, the group, who had already sneaked out of S.T.A.R. Labs, watched the scene unfold.
"This time, our plan went perfectly."
The Flash's eyes reflected a sense of relief, as if recalling some unpleasant memory.
"But... should we go find him now?"
Aquaman hesitated, still shaken by the sheer power Superman had just displayed.
"No rush. Let's give them some time..."
Batman watched the disappearing figures, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes.
...
"Superman has been resurrected! Our fallen hero has returned! This is an honor for humanity and a blessing for the world..."
In a luxurious five-star hotel in Metropolis, Peter leisurely enjoyed the quiet, listening to the TV report with a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
"It seems they've been quick about it!"
After successfully seizing Doomsday's corpse, Peter didn't rush to leave this world and return to the Marvel universe. Instead, he found a hotel in Metropolis and settled down for the time being.
As for how he got the money to stay at the hotel? Naturally, it came from some petty thugs in the neighboring city who foolishly delivered it to him.
Listening to the excited report from the news anchor, Peter knew that Batman and the others had successfully revived the deceased Superman, as expected.
However, it wasn't entirely according to the original timeline. There were some differences from what Peter had known. At least, the original scenario where Superman, confused after his resurrection, fought with the Justice League members did not occur. Instead, Superman immediately saw Lois, who had arrived just in time, and disappeared with her.
Moreover, the timing of Superman's resurrection was almost half a month earlier than in the original timeline.
"With experience comes improvement..."
Peter wasn't surprised by this. If the Flash traveled through time and came back without any progress, then it might be better for this world to be destroyed sooner rather than later.
"I'm curious to see what they can accomplish before Steppenwolf arrives!"
Peter was eager to see Steppenwolf's reaction when he arrived, expecting to find Superman dead, only to discover that not only is Superman alive, but countless heroes on Earth are ready for him, planning an ambush.
"When the time comes, I definitely need to be there to see it..."
Of course, Peter would go, as he had some matters that required Steppenwolf's assistance. That was the reason he stayed in this universe.
...
Soon, a few more days passed.
During this time, Superman, with Lois's company, gradually regained and sorted through all his memories. He remembered dying while stopping Doomsday, but now, somehow, he had been resurrected.
Today, a group of people came to find him.
"Bruce Wayne? Was it you who brought me back to life? Why?"
Clark stared at the familiar figure at the front of the group, his expression serious as he spoke in a deep voice. In his memory, just before his death, he had fought this man due to differing ideologies. Although they reconciled because of Doomsday's appearance and the fact that both their mothers were named Martha, it didn't mean all animosity between them was completely resolved.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Clark Kent. I was wrong in my thinking. This world needs you; humanity's future needs you!"
Batman didn't back down, meeting Superman's gaze with equal seriousness and speaking slowly.
"And what about you? Do humanity and this world need you?"
At this moment, a red glimmer flashed in Clark's eyes, and his gaze grew colder.
"Clark, I know you're angry, but we don't have much time!"
The Flash suddenly stepped out from behind Batman and stood beside him, looking at Clark with a pleading expression. He knew that now was not the time for infighting; the delay in seeking out Clark was to give him some time to cool off, preventing an immediate confrontation.
"Do I know you?"
Clark's cold gaze swept over the group, finally resting on Bruce and the Flash. He asked in a deep voice.
"I'm sorry. While you might not remember us now, believe me, we were once comrades in arms!"
The Flash spoke sincerely. In another timeline, they had fought together for a long time before Superman was controlled. Unfortunately, they still couldn't prevent the fall of Earth.
"Is that so? So why did you bring me back?"
Seeing the Flash's sincere expression, Clark's demeanor seemed to soften slightly. He then asked why they had resurrected him.
"As I said before, our world needs you, and humanity's future needs you!"
