[Superman] Chapter 179: Destined for Destruction? Or a Better Future!
🕑 Added 2024-07-28 16:18:41 +0000 UTCAt this moment, it seemed as if all the fiery energy on Apokolips was drawn to Darkseid.
Endless flames turned into a sea of fire, like a dragon weaving through the void, converging into his body.
The terrifying energy caused the void to twist and tremble.
The flames infused into Darkseid’s body, making him exude an aura infinitely more terrifying than before.
It was as if, from this moment on, he truly revealed his essence as the tyrant of the universe.
“You and the entire Earth will be destroyed by my own hands!”
As the mighty Dark Lord, Darkseid possessed immense pride and honor.
Even when invading other civilizations in the universe, he rarely took action personally.
He simply sent his subordinates and endless armies of Parademons to conquer every planet.
But this time, Darkseid felt immense fury. His pride and former glory seemed trampled by these detestable Earthlings.
The endless humiliation made his anger boil.
The intense rage drove him to take action personally, not only to annihilate the Superman who dared to humiliate him but also to make the entire Earth pay a painful price to wash away his recent disgrace.
The mighty power of the flames kept surging.
Apokolips seemed to transform into a blazing star, radiating intense heat and dazzling light.
At this moment, Darkseid looked like a deity standing in an endless sea of fire.
The terrifying aura gathered above Earth, the sea of flames seemingly setting the entire sky ablaze.
Countless people looked at the apocalyptic scene, their hearts filled with intense fear.
“Argh!”
Seeing Darkseid exhibit such a terrifying aura, Clark’s anger did not dissipate but grew even more intense.
New and old hatreds converged in Clark's mind at this moment.
His eyes burst into a dark red, as bright as blood, as fiery as anger.
With a thunderous roar, Clark ignored Darkseid's terrifying presence and charged at him without hesitation.
Bang!
With incredible speed, sonic booms erupted as Clark tore through the air.
Carrying immense power and momentum, he crashed into Darkseid.
“No one will defeat me twice!”
Facing the suddenly charging Clark, the red light in Darkseid’s eyes shone even brighter.
The Ω symbol branded on his chest emitted a unique, fiery aura.
The endless fiery energy of Apokolips continuously gathered, transmitting into his body.
Suddenly, Darkseid stretched out his hand.
His massive battle blade, which had been lost during his previous fall through Apokolips, seemed to be drawn by a force.
It pierced through the planet's surface, appearing in his hand like a fiery red meteor.
The battle blade, already glowing with flame, erupted with intense light the moment it returned to Darkseid’s hand.
The fiery Ω symbol on his chest burst forth with endless crimson energy, visibly channeling through his arm and into the blade.
Whoosh!
With the surge of powerful energy, the once dim blade blazed with brilliance.
Like holding a shining lantern, the tip of the blade ignited in fierce flames.
At the same time, Clark, charging with terrifying power, was about to arrive.
The overwhelming force seemed unstoppable, even if a giant planet lay ahead.
However, Darkseid’s face only showed a cold, fierce expression.
Without hesitation, he swung the blazing battle blade toward the approaching Superman.
Boom!
Clark’s power-infused punch collided with the flaming blade.
An unparalleled explosion of power erupted.
The terrifying clash created a visible shockwave.
Like a planet exploding above Earth.
The dazzling light engulfed the globe, making countless people cover their eyes, unable to see the scene above.
Whoosh!
Amidst the terrifying energy explosion, a figure was flung into the air by the immense impact.
It streaked through the void like a meteor falling from space, crashing into Earth.
The immense force raised a massive mushroom cloud.
The hard ground formed a crater with a diameter of over ten kilometers.
…
"Heh, a Kryptonian? I am the supreme deity of the universe!"
In the void, watching the visible surge of power on Earth, a trace of contempt flashed in Darkseid's crimson eyes.
The strength of the Kryptonians, though renowned throughout the universe, only he deserved to be called the supreme deity.
Among the billions of beings in the cosmic starry sky and the lofty gods, it was his name, Darkseid, that was revered.
"If I can't conquer this planet completely, then I will utterly destroy it!"
The reason Darkseid was so intent on conquering and occupying Earth was not just to avenge the humiliation he suffered thousands of years ago when he was repelled by Earth's gods during his invasion.
More importantly, it was because of the Anti-Life Equation hidden and imprinted on the surface of the Earth.
The White Light and the Life Equation created the positive matter universe, permeating it and merging with all things.
Conversely, the Anti-Life Equation possessed equally terrifying power.
It was the most powerful weapon in the universe, capable of forcibly controlling others, influencing their thoughts, and making them submit to its wielder.
Just as Darkseid did during his last descent to Earth, merely a preliminary grasp of the Anti-Life Equation allowed him to exploit Superman's grief over losing his loved one, using the equation to trigger the darkness within and completely control him to fight for Darkseid.
Darkseid's original plan was to gradually transform Earth's environment to resemble Apokolips, then, using the powerful technology of Apokolips and his own godly power, merge Apokolips with the transformed Earth.
In this way, Apokolips would continue and grow stronger.
The Anti-Life Equation imprinted on the ancient planet's surface would be fully controlled by him, aiding in his conquest of the entire universe and the search for the Source Wall that existed since the dawn of the universe.
However, due to the multiple obstacles encountered during his conquest of Earth and the recent humiliation he suffered, Darkseid changed his original plan.
All the people on Earth would lose the chance to be transformed into his slaves.
He would personally destroy this ancient planet in the universe.
Then, he would transplant the Anti-Life Equation imprinted on its surface to his home, Apokolips.
"The raging flames will consume everything!"
"You lowly humans are only fit to wail in the fire, enduring unbearable hellish pain!"
"And the great Anti-Life Equation will manifest in the flames, aiding me in conquering the entire universe!"
Darkseid slightly opened his mouth, his voice resonating across the entire Earth, as if echoing throughout the universe.
Like a deity decreeing the rules of the cosmos, he was pronouncing Earth's impending fate.
Humanity would ultimately be burned to ashes by the endless flames, completely erased from the annals of cosmic history.
...
"No!"
With Darkseid's god-like pronouncement, a cry filled with anger and unwillingness echoed through the void.
The next moment, a figure suddenly burst out from the mushroom cloud that had yet to dissipate on Earth, rushing once more towards Darkseid with great speed.
"A very tenacious will!"
"Unfortunately, you can never defeat a true god!"
Darkseid looked at the figure charging towards him again, a hint of admiration in his eyes.
This was the very reason he had previously gone to great lengths, attempting to control Superman with the Anti-Life Equation.
The Kryptonians, few as they were in the entire universe, would have been the sharpest blade in his conquest of the cosmos if they were under his control.
But now, since he couldn't use Superman for himself, Darkseid was ready to personally break this sharp blade.
The next moment, as Superman's figure rapidly approached.
Darkseid raised the flaming blade in his hands high.
From the Omega symbol branded on his chest, an endless stream of fiery energy exploded out.
It rushed down his arms and poured into the blade he held.
The flames burning on the blade surged as if they had been doused with alcohol, increasing their intensity dramatically.
The raging flames ignited the surrounding void, spreading rapidly outward to form a blazing curtain of fire.
It was like a wall of fire, standing in front of Darkseid.
The massive curtain of fire didn't stop expanding.
In just a moment, it swept across the entire surface of Apokolips, completely covering it.
And it continued to spread and expand.
It seemed as if it intended to cover the entire surface of Earth, enveloping the sky above.
"Go, in the name of fire, burn everything on this planet!"
Darkseid's voice seemed like the final judgment on the countless beings on Earth.
The next moment, with Darkseid's push, the blade in his hand, carrying the enormous wall of fire, suddenly swept towards the Earth's surface.
At that moment, countless humans looked up at the flame-covered sky, their clear eyes reflecting the endless fiery glow.
At this moment, their hearts were filled with confusion, unwillingness, and fantasies about the future and survival.
"No! Humanity can never lose all hope!"
...
Indeed, humanity has not lost all hope.
Because at the moment of impending doom, the god among men who once represented hope has stood up, becoming humanity's last hope.
Superman's eyes were filled with determination as he raised his hands, unleashing a powerful biofield to catch the descending blade and halt the wall of fire spreading towards Earth.
However, the blade and the immense wall of fire seemed to exert a pressure even greater than that of Apokolips itself.
Even Superman, at this moment, showed signs of being unable to withstand it.
His entire body was being continuously pressed down, slowly approaching the surface of Earth.
Soon, the few remaining plants on Earth began to wither under the intense heat of the flames.
Countless people felt like they were experiencing the scorching heat of ten suns, their skin baking and sweating profusely.
"Bruce, what should we do now?"
At that moment, the group gathered around wiped away the sweat pouring from their faces and asked Batman for a solution to the crisis.
However, there was no response from Batman.
His gaze was not fixed on the wall of fire approaching the ground but rather on a figure of lightning still speeding in the distance.
"At this moment, we have lost too much."
"With our own strength, we can no longer rebuild Earth."
"Only time can change our tragic past and write a better future."
Batman's eyes seemed to have lost all hope for the future.
No, his eyes were filled entirely with hope for the future.
But it was not hope for their current future, but for the past, when Earth had not yet truly suffered an alien invasion, and everyone's future was full of hope.
"Bruce, you mean..."
At that moment, looking at Batman's expression, everyone seemed to understand that his plan all along might not have been to save their future.
But to rewrite their past and create a future entirely different from the present.
"Are we destined to perish?"
Someone felt a trace of confusion at this moment.
"For all the people on Earth and our home, so what if we're destined to perish?"
Suddenly, a voice rang out, filling everyone with strong motivation.
Yes, even if they were destined to perish, those living in the past would have a chance to change everything and write a better future with their own hands.
The Flash, still running at high speed, seemed to be greatly inspired.
After accumulating Speed Force energy for a long time, he finally managed to open a time portal to the past before the wall of fire could cover the Earth's surface.
The Speed Force tore through space.
A special space enveloped the Flash's body.
He continued to run, but it was as if he were on a giant treadmill.
The scenery around him kept changing.
It seemed like the entire world's timeline was accelerating under his relentless steps.
In the vision of the future, Superman ultimately failed to withstand the pressure of the wall of fire.
The endless sea of flames engulfed the entire Earth, spreading across the whole planet.
The blazing fire burned for months, consuming everything on Earth's surface.
On the molten surface of Earth, an equation written in ancient script slowly appeared amidst the burning flames.
"No! I will rewrite this tragic future!"
Gazing at the scorched Earth, the Flash's eyes were filled with determination. His steps suddenly reversed, running backward.
The next moment, the surrounding scenes began to rewind. The burning flames slowly extinguished.
Earth was restored to its original state.
Then the Apokolips in the sky slowly disappeared.
Countless familiar scenes flashed before the Flash's eyes.
One by one, the figures and moments he remembered vividly.
Among them were all he had once lost.
His backward running speed increased, the familiar scenes passing by faster and faster.
Until one day, the sky was suddenly torn apart, and the endless Parademon army descended upon Earth.
And this was the beginning of all the tragic fate!
...
