[Superman] Chapter 203: A Figure in a Red Tight Suit
🕑 Added 2024-08-17 10:35:41 +0000 UTCThe establishment of the Cosmic Council was not something that could be completed overnight. It required vast planning and the dedicated contributions of countless individuals.
Moreover, it needed the support of advanced technologies and an immense reserve of resources.
Fortunately, Peter had an elite team specifically responsible for handling these details, so he didn’t need to be personally involved.
As for resources, Peter was hardly lacking. The infinite universe represented near-infinite resources.
Having delegated everything to others, Peter himself was leisurely enjoying the hard-earned peace of the universe at his estate.
It was another morning, though today's weather was far from sunny.
Early in the morning, the entire sky was covered with dense clouds, and the sunlight couldn’t fully penetrate them. Before long, a light drizzle began to fall.
The gloomy sky made everyone in New York City feel a bit downcast.
Especially those unlucky workers, rushing to work early in the morning, only to get soaked by the sudden rain.
"Shit, what was supposed to be a great day got ruined by this rain..."
A young man walked into the newly constructed building of Stellar Technology, a frustrated look on his face. He hurriedly took off his expensive suit jacket, which had just been drenched by the rain, and placed it into a specialized cleaning device at the entrance.
Two seconds later, accompanied by a "ding" sound, his suit was not only clean but completely refreshed.
Of course, the system hadn’t magically chosen him as a hero; it was just the convenience that technology brought to humanity.
"Alright, stop complaining. We just graduated, and we're lucky enough to get into what is undoubtedly the world's number one company," a friend of his, who had been waiting nearby, offered some comforting words.
Both had graduated from the same university and had chosen to intern at Stellar Technology, the brightest company in all of New York City and even the world.
"Hey, I'm just venting a bit. Getting into Stellar Tech is the luckiest moment of my life."
After tidying up his clothes, the two walked side by side toward the elevator.
"Look at those full-time employees. Each of them has a company-provided directional teleportation gun. They can instantly teleport from their distant homes directly to the office, without needing to scramble for the subway and buses like we do…"
"I heard that if you become a senior employee, you even have the chance to work at the space station, where you can see our beautiful blue Earth every day…"
Their eyes were soon drawn to the teleportation portals flashing in the distance, where many full-time employees were arriving via the teleportation guns.
The convenience made the two interns envious.
"Don't worry, we’ll make it through the internship, become full-time employees, and enjoy all the company benefits…"
The futuristic scenes unfolding before them filled them with both envy and determination to stay in this world-renowned company.
They stepped into the elevator and pressed the buttons for their respective floors.
The elevator, crafted with special technology, moved smoothly and quickly.
…
Stellar Technology Company, though only established for a few short years, had developed at an incredibly rapid pace, now standing at the forefront of the entire world.
Thanks to advancements in materials science, within just a year, the company had built a skyscraper in the heart of New York City, towering over a thousand meters high.
Not only was it the tallest building in New York City, but it was also now the tallest building in the world.
At this moment, in this towering skyscraper thousands of meters above sea level, Dr. Otto, the company's head, had just finished making some important decisions about the company's future direction.
Feeling somewhat stifled, he slowly walked over to the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out and overlooking the entirety of New York City to ease his mood.
Now, he had transformed from a scientist solely focused on technological research into a man of immense wealth, whose words held power comparable to that of the world's top nations. He had become one of the most influential people in the world, possessing both power and fortune.
However, despite having everything now, Dr. Otto had not forgotten his original purpose. He knew it was that person who made him who he was.
And the company he built was entirely dedicated to serving that person.
Not long ago, a grand plan had been proposed to establish a massive council that would connect multiple universes in a special dimension outside the universe.
This plan instantly set the entire company into accelerated motion.
They recruited countless talented individuals in special fields of science and began constructing various advanced technological devices...
The whole company was preparing for that massive plan.
And this was precisely what made even Dr. Otto feel a bit exhausted.
"A colossal council connecting multiple universes... It's hard to imagine just how unbelievable it will be when everything succeeds..."
Not long ago, Dr. Otto had poured everything into his artificial sun project, which he believed could change everything.
Now, in such a short time, he found himself personally involved in a grand project that spanned the entire multiverse.
In retrospect, all his previous achievements now seemed almost laughable.
"The vastness of the universe is truly unimaginable..."
Dr. Otto slowly raised his head, gazing up at the sky, trying to fathom the infinite scenes beyond the universe, wondering just how magnificent and awe-inspiring they must be.
However, just as Dr. Otto was gazing into the void, he was unaware that a strange figure, dressed in a red tight suit with their face completely concealed by a mask, was standing on top of the tallest building in New York City.
"Holy shit, this building is really tall..."
Standing on the edge of the rooftop without any protective measures, the figure looked down at the ground, over a thousand meters below.
Though its tone suggested a certain fear of the building's height, its feet showed no hesitation as they stood right on the edge.
At a height of over a thousand meters, any ordinary person standing at the edge would likely feel a strong sense of vertigo from the view.
"Hehe, thrilling enough..."
But this figure seemed entirely unaffected, leaping off the edge of the building without a second thought.
They fell headfirst, feet up, their entire body plunging rapidly towards the ground like a free fall.
"Woohoo..."
Even as they hurtled toward the ground at breakneck speed, they let out a yell of excitement.
...
In just a few short seconds, the figure had fallen dozens of meters, reaching the floor where Dr. Otto was located.
"Is that... Spider-Man?"
In an instant, Dr. Otto's gaze sharpened as he looked at the figure plummeting from the skyscraper. However, he quickly noticed that this wasn't an ordinary person. The figure was clad in a red tight suit, with a red mask completely covering their face.
At first glance, one might mistake them for the new Spider-Man who had recently appeared in New York City, teaming up with Spider-Woman to save innocent citizens.
Dr. Otto had often heard rumors about Spider-Man leaping from tall buildings to enjoy the ultimate thrill.
"Could it be that today he chose our company's newly built skyscraper, the tallest in New York City?"
Just as Dr. Otto assumed this figure was Spider-Man seeking a thrill and had come here for a leap of faith, he realized something was off. The falling figure was staring directly at him.
Although the white eye patches of the mask hid their expression, Dr. Otto's keen senses detected a strong killing intent.
Almost simultaneously, the falling figure suddenly raised their hand, gripping a finely crafted handgun. Even as they plummeted at high speed, their aim was unaffected.
Without hesitation, the figure fired at Dr. Otto.
"Damn it, this guy isn't Spider-Man!"
The moment Dr. Otto sensed the killing intent, his elegant suit instantly transformed. Nanometal particles spread across his body, and in the blink of an eye, his nanotech armor completely covered him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
At the same moment his armor covered him, a burst of bullets struck the glass in front of Dr. Otto.
Crack!
The bullets hit the bulletproof glass, only leaving behind a spiderweb-like crack on the special material. They couldn't penetrate it.
"Holy crap, this glass is ridiculously tough!"
The figure knew that the bullets they were using were no ordinary ones—they were made of Adamantium. These special rounds might not be able to pierce the strongest Vibranium, but they should have easily penetrated alloy steel plates.
Even Wolverine, with his Adamantium skeleton and self-healing abilities, had suffered memory loss from being shot in the head with such a bullet.
Yet now, this glass was proving difficult to break. The figure was understandably shocked.
"Heh, well then, time to showcase my dazzling blade skills..."
Though surprised that the Adamantium bullets couldn't break through, the figure didn't hesitate. Their body twisted midair, and as they rotated, both hands reached behind their back.
With a swift motion, they drew two sharp, gleaming short blades.
Using the momentum of their spin, the figure flung one of the blades straight at Dr. Otto.
Whoosh!
The short blade flew through the air, accurately striking the center of the spiderweb-like crack on the glass.
This time, the Adamantium blade finally pierced through the glass.
The blade lodged itself into the glass, its sharp tip gleaming as it aimed for Dr. Otto's forehead.
Clang!
However, despite breaking through the glass, the blade was stopped by Dr. Otto's nanotech armor, which covered his entire body. It didn't reach his forehead.
"Ah!"
After all those moves, the figure continued to fall to the lower floors.
Just as Dr. Otto was about to lower his gaze to track the falling figure, a voice called out.
"Heh, I'm back!"
Somehow, the figure had managed to change their fall trajectory and leaped back up.
Their empty right hand grabbed the hilt of the short blade embedded in the glass.
Bang!
With a powerful force, the figure shattered the already weakened glass, crashing into the room where Dr. Otto stood.
Glass shards scattered everywhere.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment.
With both hands gripping their blades, the figure charged at Dr. Otto, their blades gleaming coldly as they aimed for his head!
Clang!
With a sharp sound, the blade was stopped mid-air.
A mechanical arm appeared from behind Dr. Otto, effortlessly catching the blade that had been aimed at him.
"Holy crap, I'm screwed!"
No matter how hard Deadpool tried, he couldn't budge the blade in his hand. He couldn't even pull it back out.
Meanwhile, another mechanical arm, made from nanometal, was rapidly advancing toward him from behind Dr. Otto.
In a desperate move, Deadpool had to abandon his right-hand blade, raising the short blade in his left hand to attempt another strike at Dr. Otto.
"Whoa..."
But he couldn't keep up with Dr. Otto's speed. In an instant, Dr. Otto's mechanical arm grabbed Deadpool and lifted him off the ground.
The sudden, murderous assault had angered Dr. Otto. Controlling the mechanical arm, he slammed Deadpool's body into the floor with tremendous force.
Bang!
The impact shattered the expensive hardwood flooring.
But Dr. Otto wasn't satisfied yet. He continued to swing Deadpool's body back and forth with the mechanical arm, slamming him repeatedly into the floor around him.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Far away, across the infinite timelines, Loki, who could sense everything, suddenly recalled a bad memory as he witnessed the scene.
Bang!
After slamming Deadpool dozens of times, the mechanical arm shifted direction, pressing Deadpool's limp body against the glass window.
"Don't play dead. I know your unique physique won't let you die so easily..."
Dr. Otto's face was serious as he stared at Deadpool, whose head drooped and whose body was covered in wounds, almost twisted out of shape.
"Alright, fine. Too bad, I couldn't fool you..."
Hearing Dr. Otto's words, Deadpool stopped pretending to be dead. With the sound of bones twisting, he turned his head and looked at Dr. Otto.
"Who are you? Why did you try to assassinate me? Who sent you?"
Since the establishment of Stellar Technology, Dr. Otto had used Superman's reputation as protection, deterring many from targeting him. However, there were still a few reckless terrorists who had tried to assassinate him using various means.
Some sought to cause global chaos, while others wanted the advanced technologies in his possession. There were even those who coveted the rumored immortality serum he held...
In any case, Dr. Otto was no stranger to assassination attempts and had long been prepared for such incidents.
"Heh, actually, I'm Spider-Man... Iron Man sent me to take you out!"
