[Genshin Impact] Chapter 148: Cunning Riftwolfs Pack
🕑 Added 2024-05-07 13:14:18 +0000 UTCAccording to Bennett, it wasn't impossible.
Otherwise, there was no other explanation. After all, they were still on the edge of Wovelndom, and the camping spot was so open and empty.
According to the habits of creatures, they shouldn't choose to settle near such an environment. There were too few hiding places and they could easily be discovered by enemies.
"Everyone be careful, they might be about to attack."
Lumine said, her legs apart, wearing knee-high boots, and her body slightly lowered in a defensive stance.
The snow-white thighs revealed under the diagonal hem of her skirt seemed to tighten slightly as well.
This group of Otherworldly Creatures, led by the three RiftHounds in the lead, like hunters closing in on their prey, approached the members of the temporary adventure team step by step.
"This isn't going to work. There are so many of them. What should we do? It feels like we might not be able to handle it," Paimon said, her face full of worry, hiding behind Lumine.
"It is indeed troublesome. Those big black wolves are no weaker than the one we encountered earlier," Nolan said.
Although his eye of judgment was golden, it didn't shine in the darkness. After all, he wasn't some kind of feline with glowing eyes.
At this moment, among the attacking creatures, one of the Rifthounds, along with several whelps, dissolved the boundaries of the world and traversed deeper layers of space, while the others remained motionless.
"No way, they're so cunning?!"
Seeing this situation, Nolan couldn't help but feel a little anxious.
At the same time, everyone had experienced this situation before. The five of them quickly left their original positions, and sure enough, a black wolf suddenly appeared above their original location, its claws swinging down.
Seeing it miss, Nolan hadn't even breathed a sigh of relief when several Riftwolf Whelps suddenly appeared beside him, their mouths full of sharp teeth ready to bite.
Nolan raised an eyebrow, instantly releasing the fire elemental to attach to the Dull Blade from his Delusion.
Using the extraordinary property of his swordsmanship, "Boundary of Stillwind," he easily sensed the airflow movements around him.
After dodging the whelps' attacks, he seized the opportunity to stab the fire-element-attached long sword into the bright weak spot under one whelp's jaw, piercing straight through its skull.
【Defeated A Powerful Enemy, Obtained 435 Adventure EXP.】
As the prompt popped up on the character panel, it proved that it was as dead as dead could be.
"Attendant, be careful!"
As the Rifthounds attacked the adventure team, scattering them, the other Rift creatures split into several groups and attacked the others.
These creatures with wolf-like habits are truly disgusting in their cunning!
Fischl, with a ready thunder elemental arrow, was about to shoot at the incoming young beast when, out of the corner of her eye, she silently spotted a huge black wolf behind Nolan.
Quickly alerting them, she redirected her arrow towards the target while firing.
Sensing the exposed vulnerability of the Rifthound Whelp, it immediately lunged towards her arm.
When Fischl felt something was amiss and turned around, it was already too late!
"Miss!"
Oz, shimmering with lightning, like a spinning drill, rushed into the mouth of the Rifthound Whelp, tearing it apart.
Just as Fischl breathed a sigh of relief, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her calf.
Another Rifthound Whelp appeared from behind her, instantly biting the defenseless Fischl, eliciting a painful whimper from her soft lips.
Her entire body tingled with lightning, paralyzing the Rifthound Whelp biting her calf.
Biting her lip, Fischl instantly attached lightning elemental to the arrow in her hand and released it at the Rifthound Whelp beneath her foot.
It had no chance to evade. The arrow of lightning, shot at close range, left its final consciousness forever shrouded in purple.
Although the Rifthound Whelp had died and slipped off Fischl's leg, wrapped in her thigh-high black stockings, the "corrosive" force caused the wound it had bitten to continue oozing fresh red blood.
Nolan, hearing Fischl's warning, immediately moved away from his original position. A Rifthound had just emerged from the deep space, without causing any disturbance in the surrounding air.
This caused him to miss it at first, but the following thunder elemental arrow sent it back into the deep space.
Seeing Fischl injured, Nolan was suddenly alarmed. This could be bad if not treated promptly!
With anger rising in his heart, the fire elemental attached to his Dull Blade became fiercer.
Using his full-level swordsmanship, he quickly killed two Rifthound Whelp besieging him, swiftly running towards Fischl's direction, shouting to Lumine and Bennett:
"Everyone, come over quickly! These guys want to pick us off one by one!"
Lumine planted her Dull Blade in the grass, slowly breathing out a sigh of relief from her moist lips.
The golden tips of her hair were slightly stuck together with sweat.
Her amber eyes stared at the RIfthounds and Rifthound Whelps in front of her, daring not to move recklessly, lest she reveal a flaw.
Her backless dress had been slashed open across her abdomen at some point, revealing glimpses of the snowy white skin and navel beneath.
With both sides evenly matched, it wasn't easy to fight. Suddenly, Lumine's Dull Blade whipped up a whirlwind, shattering the soil below and sweeping towards the Rifthounds.
Seizing the moment when the Rift creatures diverted their gaze, she swiftly retreated towards Nolan and Fischl.
Bennett's side of the encounter was more dangerous. Not only did he have a Rifthound Whelp hanging from each of his feet, he also had another one on his left shoulder, biting and not moving.
With his right hand holding an unrepaired dark steel sword, he also had to deal with the Rifthound Whelp in front of him.
Near the entire campsite, several RIfthounds lurked in the deep space, ready to emerge and ambush at any moment. They seemed even more cunning than the intelligent Abyss Mages!
Seeing Bennett's predicament, Nolan quickly drew his adventurer's hunting bow and continuously shot arrows with fire elemental attached at the Rifthound Whelps biting him.
With the "Silent and Shadowless" feature, the arrows seemed to ignore distance, accurately piercing their foreheads the next moment.

Freed from danger, Bennett unleashed his elemental burst "Passion Overload", piercing through the Rifthound Whelp in front of him, swiftly running over to reunite with the others.
At this moment, among the Rift Monster, the three Rifthounds were still there, they also resurfaced in the deep space and appeared, staring at the several people with fierce gazes.
The rest of the Rifthound Whelp had been killed by the group, leaving only four or five remaining.
Overall, their numerical advantage wasn't as significant anymore.
"Bennett, you look pretty badly injured!"
Lumine looked at Bennett's wounds with some concern.
"Haha, it's fine, I'm used to it all." Bennett rubbed the back of his head, revealing a smile, and said, "But it's time for us to fight back next!"
"Setbacks, adversity, wounds - they're all part of the 'glorious journey' to becoming great adventurers!"
With renewed determination, he jumped up in place, and then slammed his fist into the ground. A fiery red light spread across the grassy ground, forming a cheering domain with a pattern resembling a "thumbs-up" gesture.
