[Superman] Chapter 123: The Pursuit of the Celestial God Ego
🕑 Added 2024-05-01 17:02:14 +0000 UTCIn fact, Star-Lord and the others, arriving relatively late, did not witness the entire situation before the planet's demise.
Before that massive nebula completely engulfed the planet with intelligent life.
There was actually a brilliant stream of light in the universe, searching at extremely high speeds for planets teeming with intelligent life.
Eventually, after finding this planet, it sent out a signal into the universe.
Then, the colossal nebula capable of devouring planets rushed over at an extremely fast pace.
It enveloped the entire planet, then devoured all the intelligent life and vitality on the planet.
Leaving it completely transformed into a dead star filled with silence.
While that nebula was devouring the planet.
The figure that arrived first had already turned into a stream of light once again, rushing into the cosmic void.
Shuttling between countless galaxies, once again searching for planets to serve as food for the nebula, which possessed consciousness and devoured vitality.
This process had been ongoing since the birth of the universe, lasting for who knows how many years.
It had already formed a terrifying cosmic legend within the universe.
Some time later.
On a prosperous planet.
Inside a special city that provided comprehensive services for numerous cosmic plunderer teams.
Star-Lord's spacecraft slowly descended onto it.
"Damn it, I never expected to encounter such a terrifying cosmic legend right after escaping from the cold prison."
Even though some time had passed, Star-Lord, who was getting off the ship, still felt a chill running down his spine.
After all, it was a terrifying legend of the civilized universe.
It was said that everyone who saw that nebula never escaped alive.
And that they could survive in such a terrifying legend was already incredibly unbelievable.
Which made him feel extremely fortunate.
"Star-Lord, is that thing really so terrifying?"
Seeing Star-Lord still in shock, Rocket couldn't help but feel curious and doubtful.
Since he had only been created by the Celestials less than ten years ago, he naturally hadn't heard of this ancient cosmic legend.
"Rocket, you have no idea how terrifying that thing is!"
Star-Lord slowly said with lingering fear on his face.
"That thing is said to be one of the oldest entities in the universe since its inception."
"It roams the universe year-round, like a devil that's always hungry, constantly devouring anything it sees."
"However, despite its constant consumption, it still feels an intense hunger."
"It has even been given countless names by countless people, such as the God of World Destruction, Planet Killer, Devourer of the Universe, and so on."
"According to legend, its appetite doesn't decrease from continuous consumption, but only grows larger."
"As time passes, it might even devour the entire universe..."
As Star-Lord spoke, a hint of skepticism appeared on Rocket's face.
"Star-Lord, are you sure this isn't something your mom made up to scare you, specifically designed to scare little kids?"
"Go to hell, you damn raccoon! Believe it or not!"
In fact, Star-Lord hadn't taken this terrifying legend circulating within the plunderer legion seriously before.
But now that the facts were before him, he had no choice but to believe it.
After all, he had just witnessed a huge planet being instantly transformed into a dead star under the terrifying nebula's devouring.
"Alright, let's stop discussing that terrifying matter. I think we should go and enjoy ourselves to make up for my frightened soul."
Drax, with a simple and honest face, seemed completely unconcerned with the conversation between the two.
His gaze remained fixed on the nearby upscale restaurant, his mouth watering at the continuous aroma wafting from it.
"Yes, to celebrate our escape from danger, we should indeed have a good meal and then have some fun..."
Finally, the terrified expression on Star-Lord's face completely disappeared, and he took the lead in walking towards the luxurious restaurant.
"Wait, Star-Lord..."
Drax naturally followed without hesitation, leaving Rocket looking somewhat hesitant as he watched the backs of the two.
"Do these two have any money?"
Rocket hadn't forgotten their previous failed treasure hunt.
"Well, if it comes to it and they don't, I'll just sell that big idiot as an interstellar slave to make up for it."
After hesitating for a moment, a mischievous smile appeared on Rocket's face, and he also followed.
...
Soon, the three of them were in a restaurant specifically catering to cosmic plunderers.
They were enjoying a sumptuous dinner.
Clank! Clank!
Star-Lord was doing relatively well, at least maintaining some elegance.
But Rocket and the big fool Drax were completely indifferent to the gaze of others, as if there were no one in the universe they cared about.
Their wolfish eating habits seemed like they were starving ghosts reincarnated.
In just a few minutes, the delicious dishes that had just been served were torn apart by the two in a mess of competition.
"Damn it!"
Splattered with food debris, Star-Lord couldn't help but glare angrily at the two fighting over food.
"Alright, I won't compete with these two."
After eating some food, Star-Lord glanced at the still voracious duo.
Then quietly left the table and walked to a secluded corner.
"Sir, is there something you need?"
After looking around and making sure no one noticed him, Star-Lord approached a green-skinned female alien waitress in the restaurant.
"Um... could you take me to the third floor..."
Star-Lord seemed familiar with the place, speaking softly.
"Of course, sir. Please follow me."
The waitress glanced at Star-Lord, seeming to understand something, then led the way to a discreet elevator.
"Huh? Where's that bastard Star-Lord?"
Rocket, who was still gobbling up food, noticed Star-Lord's disappearance a few minutes later and couldn't help but ask in confusion.
"Don't worry about him, he probably went to the bathroom..."
Drax didn't even lift his head, continuing to gorge himself on the food.
"Bathroom?"
Rocket turned around in confusion, but didn't see Star-Lord's figure.
"Hey, did you guys hear? There's a mysterious person offering a high reward for information on Yondu and his crew."
It was not until later, as they were eating, that they overheard several cosmic mercenaries dining at nearby tables discussing it.
"A bounty for Yondu? What trouble has that guy gotten into now?"
"Who knows, after all, that guy has done many things against principles. It's not surprising to offend some big shots."
"Against principles? What things?"
As the conversation went on, the person being asked looked around cautiously, then leaned closer to their companion and continued cautiously.
"It is said that Yondu was originally in the business of trafficking children."
"Trafficking children? How is that possible? Didn't he firmly refuse to engage in human trafficking? How could he do something so terrible?"
"Hmph, do you really believe that? Yondu is just a hypocrite who says one thing and does another. Otherwise, how could the cosmic plunderer legion have kicked him out?"
"Well, in that case, Yondu is indeed hypocritical. Perfect, if I have the chance to see him, I'll definitely sell his information to the person offering the reward, which would also contribute to universal peace, wouldn't it?"
"Hahaha... Right, it's a pity, though, who knows whose luck will be good enough to find Yondu the hypocrite first."
...
"Yondu? Wasn't he the bastard who used to be Star-Lord's captain?"
Hearing the discussions of others nearby,
Rocket's face showed a strange expression. During the escape from prison, Star-Lord had mentioned that his captain was Yondu.
Thinking about this, Rocket's expression became somewhat hesitant, his clear eyes darting around, seemingly undecided.
In the end, after glancing at the still voracious and clueless Drax, Rocket quietly slipped away.
Meanwhile, Star-Lord followed the waitress and took the concealed elevator to the restaurant's third floor.
"Sir, would you like me to take you in?"
The waitress wore a professional smile as she asked Star-Lord.
"No need, no need, you can go on, I'll go in by myself."
Star-Lord waved eagerly, rejecting the waitress, then walked in directly.
As he watched Star-Lord's figure, the smile gradually faded from the waitress's face.
Without hesitation, she entered the elevator and took out a high-tech device resembling a tablet.
...
"Huh? Where are they? How come they're all gone?"
In the restaurant, Drax, who had just eaten enough to be satisfied, finally noticed the disappearance of the two.
A look of confusion appeared on his simple face.
"Did they all go to the bathroom?"
However, he didn't dwell on it and continued to eat voraciously.
"Waiter, bring more food!"
Soon, almost all the food on the table had been devoured by Drax, and he called out somewhat unsatisfied.
"Sir, you've already eaten enough for ten people. Do you really want more?"
The waitress's smile concealed her surprise as she asked.
"Of course, I can eat even more."
Drax's face was full of confidence as he spoke without hesitation.
"I'm sorry, sir, but if you want more food, please settle the bill first..."
The waitress looked at Drax's bare arms, doubting if he had money to pay.
"Settle the bill? What bill?"
Drax looked puzzled, seemingly never having thought about paying the bill before.
"I'm sorry, sir, please don't joke."
The waitress's expression turned cold, and her gaze gradually became unfriendly.
Soon, a dozen or so alien strongmen emerged and surrounded Drax.
Facing someone who had eaten a king's meal without paying, they had a very skilled way of dealing with it.
"If you refuse to pay, then I'm sorry, sir, but you'll become the personal property of our company."
"Afterwards, whether you're sold or made to work to repay your debt, you have no right to refuse."
At this moment, although the waitress's words remained respectful, her tone had turned cold.
"Damn it, did those two bastards run away?"
At this moment, Drax looked angry, seemingly finally realizing that he had been abandoned.
Bang!
In his anger, he directly attacked without hesitation, engaging in a fierce battle with the strongmen surrounding him.
Soon, the entire restaurant was in chaos because of them.
And the cosmic mercenaries who were originally dining, not only did no one choose to leave, but they also gathered around, watching with interest.
"Great, it's been a while since we've had something like this happen. We've saved ourselves another meal."
"Hahaha, that's right, I wonder how long this big idiot can hold out."
The crowd gathered together and burst into laughter.
They were very happy to see such a situation.
Someone causing trouble meant that they could shift the entire dining bill onto this troublemaker.
......
"Damn it, someone has already submitted the mission?"
In a hall where cosmic bounty missions were taken and delivered, Rocket's expression was extremely ugly.
He discovered that the bounty for finding Yondu had already been submitted.
And it seemed to have been submitted not long ago.
"Is it really just a coincidence?"
Rocket pondered, feeling that a special crisis was looming.
"Could it be that stupid Star-Lord has been found by someone?"
"No, no matter what, I have to inform that bastard Star-Lord and that big idiot to leave this planet as soon as possible."
After hesitating for a moment, Rocket ran out of the hall with a serious expression on his face.
"Damn it, what's this big idiot doing?"
As soon as he returned to the restaurant, Rocket saw Drax fighting with others.
"Forget it, no time!"
The next moment, Rocket pulled out an energy cannon larger than himself from somewhere.
Then, without hesitation, he aimed at Drax and the others who were fighting and pulled the trigger.
Boom! With a dazzling burst of energy, the entire restaurant was almost completely destroyed.
The entire building shook suddenly.
"What the hell? What's happening?"
Star-Lord, who was about to enjoy himself to the fullest, was shocked by the sudden violent shaking and hurriedly put on his clothes, running out.
"Haha, Rocket, I knew you wouldn't abandon me!"
Drax climbed up from the ground. With his thick skin, he wasn't injured by the explosion. He shouted excitedly at Rocket.
"Big idiot, go find that bastard Star-Lord quickly. We need to leave here as soon as possible."
Rocket urged urgently.
"What the hell are you guys doing?"
However, before they could go looking, Star-Lord ran over in disarray, angrily shouting at the two.
"You came back just in time. Let's leave here quickly, or you'll be in danger."
Rocket fired another shot at the surrounding approaching figures without hesitation.
Then he ran out without hesitation.
"You damn guys, are you looking for trouble?"
Star-Lord looked helpless as he watched everything, but in the end, he could only flee with the two of them quickly.
"Hurry up, we must leave this planet immediately."
As they fled, the few of them quickly returned to their ship.
The next moment, Rocket directly started the ship and fled from the planet.
"Damn it, now you guys better explain what the hell happened?"
As the spaceship left the planet, Star-Lord finally couldn't help but ask.
"Hehehe, that was so much fun just now. I knew you guys wouldn't abandon me."
Drax grinned foolishly, seeming a bit unsatisfied with what had just happened.
"Rocket..."
Star-Lord's gaze skipped over the foolish Drax and looked at Rocket directly.
"You don't know yet, do you? Your former captain, Yondu, has been put on a bounty."
As the spaceship entered space navigation mode, Rocket finally breathed a sigh of relief and explained slowly.
"What? Is that it?"
However, as Rocket expected, Star-Lord's worried expression did not appear. Instead, he looked indifferent.
"What does it have to do with me if that damn Yondu is put on a bounty? I wish someone would catch him and sell him as a slave to work on some garbage planet."
Thinking of being kidnapped to space by Yondu since he was a child, Star-Lord's face was full of anger!
......
Shortly after Star-Lord and the others escaped from that planet.
A silver-white spaceship suddenly appeared in the sky above the planet.
Immediately, the ship landed, and an old man walked out of the ship and into the hall where bounties were claimed.
"I heard someone has submitted the bounty I issued?"
"Mr. Ego, it was her who submitted the bounty task you issued."
Facing Ego's inquiry, a staff member pointed to a nervous waiter nearby.
"Was it you who submitted the task? Where are they? Take me to find them!"
Ego smiled and said slowly to the waiter.
"I'm sorry, sir. They seemed to have realized the danger and escaped before you arrived!"
The waiter nervously replied, fearing being accused of providing false information.
"Escaped?"
Upon hearing this, Ego's smile instantly disappeared from his face.
"Do you know where they fled to?"
Then, with a gloomy expression, Ego continued to inquire.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ego, I don't know about that."
The waiter's face was full of tension, but he could only speak the truth.
"Don't know? Very well!"
Instantly, the expression on Ego's face calmed down slowly.
The next moment, he suddenly raised his hand, and a brilliant blue energy burst forth from his palm.
Instantly hitting the waiter's body.
Sizzle!
The moment the waiter was hit, his whole body seemed to be burned to ashes by intense fire, leaving only bare white bones, which also turned into powder after a few seconds.
"Mr. Ego, please calm down..."
The people around looked at Ego with expressions full of fear.
"Hmph! Making me run here for nothing, you all deserve to die!"
Ego remained calm on the surface, but instantly erupted with a devastating aura of annihilation.
"No!"
The next moment, under the fearful gaze of everyone, a terrifying energy burst forth from Ego's body.
The horrifying energy seemed to turn into viscous liquid, rushing towards the surface of the entire planet like a surging sea.
In less than a dozen seconds.
The rapidly spreading energy completely enveloped the entire planet.
Everyone on the planet was instantly submerged in it, turning into bones and nutrients.
Boom!
Accompanied by the silent annihilation of a planet, Ego sat on the spaceship, his face gloomy, heading towards the universe.
