[Superman] Chapter 121: Human Torch... Mr. Fantastic?
🕑 Added 2024-04-13 10:12:58 +0000 UTCOn the mirror-like cosmic barrier, a vague figure was reflected.
"Is that my shadow?"
"No, that's a person from beyond the universe!"
In almost an instant, the figures from two different universes were shocked to discover each other's existence.
They stepped back in panic, hesitated for a while, and then slowly approached each other again.
Extending their arms, they gently touched the cosmic barrier, gazing at the figure on the other side.
"I am Gao Tianzun!"
"I am Krona."
Although they were separated by two universes, they understood each other's words from each other's figures.
"It seems that we have both been obsessed with seeking the origin of the universe..."
Suddenly, the two smiled at each other. At this moment, they seemed to share the same hobbies and pursuits.
In an instant, they became close friends.
They continuously shared with each other what they had seen and heard in the universe.
As they conversed across the universes, they gained a thorough understanding of each other's universes.
Moreover, through their conversation, they both gained the most important insights from each other.
The vastness of the universe far exceeded their imaginations.
Beyond the myriad of multiverse realities, there existed entirely new universes that were vastly different.
Even the rules within each universe were not entirely the same.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, the two conversing figures suddenly noticed that the closely adjacent cosmic barriers were gradually separating.
The distance between them grew farther and farther.
Their figures became increasingly blurred.
At this moment, they finally realized that the two universes were not always so close to each other.
It was only this special moment that brought the two omnipotent universes together, allowing them to discover each other's existence.
"I have observed the endless ages of the cosmic barrier and even attempted to shatter it with my own power, but I couldn't move it at all."
"Until this moment, when I saw you on the other side, I finally understood that perhaps the secret of the universe's birth that I have been pursuing is hidden within our respective universes."
"Perhaps, we can witness some fun and wonderful things."
As the closely connected cosmic barriers gradually drifted apart,
Before they completely separated, Gao Tianzun heard a proposal from the other side that greatly interested him.
"Merge the realities of the multiverse and incite an invasion between different universes?"
"Use the beings of the universe as pawns and bet on who can ultimately win?"
Even though Gao Tianzun, who had transcended the reality of the universe and roamed freely among the multiverse for countless ages, couldn't help but be shocked by the other's idea.
"But, it does seem quite interesting!"
However, amidst his shock, Gao Tianzun's face slowly revealed a smile.
As someone who had once enjoyed the battles between the strong, he now realized that if the realities of two different universes were to merge and an invasion were to occur.
It seemed to be even more fun?
Following this, Gao Tianzun's figure instantly left the omnipotent cosmic barrier and headed to find a single universe where he could represent himself in battle.
And at the moment when Gao Tianzun disappeared, a figure with a disproportionately large head and body suddenly appeared.
Gazing at the void beyond the omnipotent universe, its eyes were filled with seriousness.
"Using universe invasion as a means, attempting to break the omnipotent cosmic barrier with the power of mutual universe annihilation."
"Is this guy trying to merge two omnipotent universes with each other?"
At this thought, even as an observer, a hint of fear appeared in its eyes.
"No, I must find a way to stop him!"
At this moment, it seemed to completely forget its race's vow never to interfere with the development of the universe.
...
Earth, some time has passed since the Thanos crisis.
The entire planet hasn't been greatly affected.
Apart from losing a secret base of S.H.I.E.L.D., not even ordinary humans are aware that aliens once invaded Earth and the universe.
Of course, this is perfectly normal.
The higher-ups wouldn't disclose all secrets to the public, as it would only cause panic among ordinary people.
As for Peter, he has temporarily halted his cosmic travel plans.
He plans to complete the final stage of his high school life before continuing to explore the vast universe.
"It's incredible that such mysterious creatures exist in the universe!"
Inside the space station in space.
Reed was studying the precious collections brought back by Peter.
Of course, what attracted his attention the most were the peculiar alien creatures with unique shapes and biological features.
Among the many strange alien creatures,
What caught his attention the most was a puddle of viscous black liquid.
After some research, Reed was extremely shocked to discover that this puddle of viscous liquid indeed possessed incredibly unique biological characteristics.
It also had a strong impact on his understanding of extraterrestrial life.
"Reed, any progress on the research of Venom?"
After school, Peter, who had nothing to do, came to the space station to visit Reed's experiments and research.
"Mr. Superman, this creature is truly incredible, definitely not of Earth origin."
"It possesses the consciousness and simple intelligence of a living being."
"More importantly, it's actually a symbiote, capable of merging with other creatures for mutual survival."
"And after merging with other creatures, it can learn at an extremely fast rate and even replicate the DNA of the fused creature, ultimately enhancing its own strength."
"And, after merging with other creatures, it can also enhance the strength and various physical attributes of the other party."
"One could say that even an ordinary person, as long as successfully fused with it, could instantly possess strength comparable to that of Spider-Woman."
As Reed spoke, a hint of envy even appeared on his face.
"Reed, I heard that after experiencing the previous events, you are very eager for powerful strength."
"You won't merge with Venom in order to gain powerful strength, will you?"
Peter could tell from Reed's eyes his envy and desire for powerful strength and couldn't help but ask.
"No, no, no, Mr. Superman, I would never do such a thing!"
Facing Peter's inquiry, Reed shook his head nervously to deny.
"Although my research on this Venom has not yet been fully completed, I have already discovered that after merging with it, although one would gain immense power, there would also be corresponding side effects."
"For example, the two things Venom fears the most, sound waves and flames, will become fatal weaknesses after fusion."
"More importantly, after fusion, one's psyche will be affected, eventually becoming emotionally unstable, and no one knows what dangerous things they might do."
As a rigorous scientist, Reed was well aware of the dangers of merging with Venom.
So, even after experiencing the previous crisis, which made him very eager for powerful strength, he still wouldn't rashly choose to merge with Venom to gain powerful strength.
"Mr. Superman, in that case, I won't hide it from you. I have long prepared a safe and effective method that can sustainably grant humans powerful strength."
Although he denied wanting to merge with Venom to gain powerful strength,
Reed slowly said to Peter.
"Now, it's just right for you to agree and witness my experiment personally!"
His eyes were full of longing and determination.
...
"Alright, you do need some power to protect yourself."
Seeing Reed's eager gaze, Peter ultimately agreed to his decision.
After all, although Reed was constantly conducting experiments in space, it seemed that he never encountered any dangerous situations.
But if he did encounter unexpected circumstances, as an ordinary person, he wouldn't even have a shred of self-defense.
"Great, thank you for understanding."
With Peter's agreement, Reed appeared very excited.
Immediately, he personally manipulated the machinery and rolled out a huge special device.
"Mr. Superman, please take a look. This is the superpower bestowing device I created."
Pointing to the enormous device, which was several meters high and resembled an elevator, Reed introduced it to Peter with excitement.
"As the name suggests, this device can alter the human genetic sequence, granting humans some form of powerful superpower."
"I believe you can also guess that the most important energy source for this device is the cosmic storm you captured last time..."
"It can completely transform an ordinary person into a superhero like yourself."
Reed said excitedly, but after finishing, his excited expression suddenly froze.
"Um... of course, that's just an exaggerated metaphor. After all, no one can be more powerful than you."
He quickly added.
"Alright, no need to continue the introduction."
"I just want to know, are you sure this device is truly safe?"
Peter interrupted Reed, who was in the midst of excitement, and asked with some skepticism.
After all, Reed's assurance might not necessarily be true or effective.
"Absolutely safe. To complete this device, I've conducted hundreds, even thousands of experiments."
"I guarantee that this device will not encounter any problems during the experiment."
"After all, the subject of this experiment is myself, and I won't put myself in danger."
After experiencing Peter's scrutiny and supervision, Reed has become much more cautious than before.
Especially during various special experiments, he has become even more rigorous.
"In that case, I won't stop you."
Peter glanced at the special device and ultimately chose to trust Reed.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Superman. I can hardly wait!"
In fact, if Peter hadn't warned him earlier that he needed Peter's consent to conduct certain special experiments,
He might have been eager to conduct this special experiment to gain powerful abilities long ago.
...
Soon, Reed took off his outer garment, leaving only a tight-fitting suit made of special material.
Then he quickly entered the special device.
Immediately, as the device closed and sealed completely,
"Mr. Superman, I'm ready. Please begin," Reed said, his expression nervous but still courageous and eager.
"Experiment preparation initiated, countdown... three!"
Although the experiment could be controlled by artificial intelligence,
Reed still handed over the opportunity to start the experiment to Peter.
This gesture represented his trust and loyalty to Peter.
Seeing that Reed was fully prepared, Peter didn't hesitate.
Although he counted down verbally, as soon as he finished counting to three, he instantly pressed the start button.
Hum!
Instantly, a unique energy wave resonated.
Visible within the device, a golden energy surged, like a blazing tornado, completely enveloping Reed's body.
"Ah!"
The powerful energy storm seemed to inflict unbearable pain on Reed.
But it didn't exceed his limits, and he didn't lose consciousness.
"I have to say, Reed is quite ruthless to himself!"
Listening to Reed's painful cries from the outside, Peter couldn't help but wonder if this was a bioenhancement device or some kind of biological incinerator.
At the same time, he couldn't help but admire Reed.
After all, as a fragile scientist, it's hard to imagine Reed having such strong willpower.
To be able to endure such intense pain.
"Ah!"
Reed's painful cries lasted for several minutes.
"The experiment has ended. No abnormalities detected in the subject. Congratulations, the experiment was a great success!"
Finally, after nearly ten minutes, with the voice of artificial intelligence,
It represented the completion of the experiment for humanity to step into the realm of superhumans.
As the experiment ended, the golden energy storm that had engulfed Reed's body slowly dissipated.
From the surface, it seemed difficult to tell what special changes had occurred to Reed after this experiment.
It was even harder to tell what special superpowers he had gained from being an ordinary human.
Phew!
Accompanied by a deflating sound.
The sealed experimental device slowly opened.
And Reed inside didn't need any assistance at all. He walked out steadily.
"How do you feel?"
Peter approached Reed, quite curious, and scanned his body with his X-ray vision to prevent accidents.
However, Reed's body showed no problems at the moment.
It even seemed a bit stronger than the original human body.
This also made Peter slightly relieved.
After all, as long as there were no accidents with the body, even if the attempt to gain superpowers failed, it didn't matter.
"Mr. Superman, I feel great now!"
Reed raised his hands and clenched them slowly.
Crack!
The originally frail body unexpectedly burst forth with astonishing power.
The clenched fists even emitted a loud booming sound!
"I seem to possess boundless strength within my body right now!"
Reed was very excited, even though he didn't know what superpowers he would gain before the experiment.
But now, he wasn't nervous, because the immense power he felt in his body gave him confidence in this experiment.
Even if he couldn't obtain those cool and powerful superpowers.
But relying on the changes in his body alone was enough to make him excited.
Suddenly, in his excitement, a dazzling flame erupted from Reed's clenched fists.
"Huh? Is this... Mr. Fantastic transforming into Human Torch?"
Seeing the flames burning on Reed's clenched fists, Peter couldn't help but feel very surprised!
...
