Amidst the vast, boundless cosmos.
A massive spaceship drifted slowly through the starry expanse.
"Captain Valor, our mission to find the Cosmic Spirit Sphere has failed. We've wasted a huge amount of time and resources. What do we do next?"
At this moment, inside the spaceship, there were over a dozen alien beings with strange faces and multicolored skin.
They were surrounding a guy with deep blue skin, complaining about the mission's failure.
"Yeah, after receiving the mission, we spent so much money buying maps and information, only to be outsmarted in the end..."
At this moment, except for the blue-skinned alien sitting in the center who remained calm.
The other aliens couldn't help but express their frustration.
As cosmic marauders, they made their living through plunder and mercenary work.
But now, not only had they failed to complete their employer's task, they also needed to pay a hefty compensation.
Moreover, almost all their savings had been spent on this mission.
If they didn't earn any income in the near future, they might not even have enough money to maintain the spaceship.
"Captain, I think it must have been Star-Lord who leaked our mission information after he escaped, allowing others to beat us to it and resulting in the failure of our mission."
Looking at Captain Valor, a muscular crew member beside him spoke up indignantly.
"Yeah, it must be that rascal Star-Lord!"
"It's definitely him! He dared to steal the mission data and run away after the captain took care of him. This time, we can't let him get away with it!"
"Yes, capture him, exile him into space, and let him know the fate of betraying us plunderers."
This crew member's words instantly elicited agreement from the other crew members, and finally made Captain Valor, who had remained calm, show a slight ripple of emotion.
"Alright, let's go catch that bastard now. This time, I'll personally exile that rascal into space!"
Captain Valor stood up abruptly, his words filled with immense anger as he assured all the crew members.
Then he slowly walked out of the crowd, gazing at the cosmic sky, leaving only his back to the other crew members.
"Do you think the captain is serious this time?"
"It's hard to say. Every time that rascal Star-Lord causes trouble, the captain says the same thing. But hasn't that guy always been fine, and even caused bigger trouble afterward?"
As they watched Captain Valor's sudden outburst of anger, the crew members exchanged whispered conversations.
"Do you think Star-Lord might be the captain's illegitimate child on some planet?"
"Yeah, it's very likely. Otherwise, why would the captain favor him so much?"
"That's right, the trouble that kid caused before, plus everything else, would have been enough to get us all exiled into space."
"..."
Listening to the whispered conversations behind him, Captain Valor couldn't help feeling a bit embarrassed.
He was well aware of the special affection he had for Star-Lord.
To the extent that every time the kid did something wrong and was caught, he would only lightly punish him.
Until now, all the crew members could see his favoritism towards Star-Lord.
Some even speculated about their relationship.
"No, this can't go on like this. Otherwise, I'll completely lose my authority as captain."
As a shrewd captain, Captain Valor naturally knew the consequences of losing authority and respect among his crew members.
That would be getting ousted from his position as captain.
"So, I must find an opportunity to rebuild my authority as captain!"
Just as Captain Valor was pondering how to regain his authority as captain,
A streak of light resembling a shooting star swiftly streaked across the cosmic sky in front of him. By the time the light illuminated their spaceship, the object had already disappeared, almost in the blink of an eye.
"What was that thing?"
...
"Captain, we've hit the jackpot!"
In the cockpit, after conducting an investigation, they were shocked to discover that the streak of light that had swiftly passed by was not a cosmic comet.
"That's not a comet, it's a spaceship, a spaceship traveling at superluminal speed!"
All the crew members who knew the result couldn't help but be excited.
An ordinary small spaceship might not be worth much, as long as there was money to spare in the cosmos, one could easily buy one.
But a spaceship capable of traveling at superluminal speed was rare in the universe.
After all, even their own spaceship had to rely on spatial nodes for space-time jumps to cross galaxies.
And what did this mean?
"The value of a superluminal engine is not low. Whether we sell it to the Kree Empire, the Skrull Empire, the Xandar, or the Orc Consortium, we can get a considerable reward."
The small spaceship itself didn't have much value, but the superluminal engine technology it possessed was very valuable.
"Captain, what do you say? Should we go for it?"
"That's right, Captain. If we do this, we can completely make up for the losses from this mission, and still have some left over to share with the brothers, let's go have some fun..."
Some crew members seemed to be getting impatient, urging Captain Valor to go for it.
"That's right, Captain. If we do this, make up for the losses from this mission, and even if we catch that rascal, we won't need to exile him. Just teach him a lesson."
Seeing Captain Valor still hesitating, a smart crew member finally spoke up.
"Alright, since everyone is so united, then let's go for it."
Finally, Captain Valor let go of the worry in his heart and prepared to make up for the losses with this venture.
More importantly, it was also an opportunity to establish authority among the other crew members.
At the same time, he would let these crew members go easy on him when he caught Star-Lord, that rascal.
"However, let's not mention sparing that rascal Star-Lord. If we catch him later, I'll personally exile him into space, let him taste the feeling of his body exploding after being frozen."
"Don't try to persuade me when the time comes!"
Captain Valor said firmly.
"Alright, now, I command all crew members to prepare for departure, let's plunder that spaceship!"
In an instant, amid cheers from all the crew members, Captain Valor's spaceship entered a nearby spatial node and performed a space-time jump, heading towards the predicted direction of the spaceship's flight path.
...
They had only performed one space-time jump.
Captain Valor's spaceship appeared in the vastness of the cosmos.
"How is it? Have we detected that spaceship?" Captain Valor asked, feeling a bit nervous.
Although they knew the direction in which the spaceship was traveling and had made detailed predictions, whether they could find it was still full of unknowns.
After all, no one knew if the spaceship would change direction midway.
And in the vastness of the universe, even a slight deviation in direction, when magnified to the scale of the universe, would result in significant differences.
"We've successfully detected the spaceship. It's approaching us, although its course is a bit off, but we can catch up and stop it!" The tense atmosphere suddenly turned cheerful at this moment.
"That's great! We're going to strike it rich!"
With cheers from countless crew members, Captain Valor's blue face cracked into a smile, revealing a mouthful of rotten teeth.
"Let's go, head to the estimated area as quickly as possible and set up traps."
"This time, we're going to make sure it falls right into our pockets!"
Capturing a spaceship traveling at superluminal speed naturally required setting up traps.
Otherwise, they might not even be able to catch up with it.
With full speed ahead, they soon arrived at their destination. Then, they dispatched all crew members, clad in spacesuits, to set up traps in the nearby space area.
A special space distortion device could enhance the gravity in a specific space area.
This would severely impact the speed of any ship entering it, making it impossible to escape.
"Report to the captain, the traps have been set up, we're just waiting for the spaceship to arrive!"
Soon, Captain Valor's crew returned to the spaceship and reported the results.
"Well done, after this operation, everyone will have money to enjoy themselves together!"
Captain Valor understood the importance of maintaining his authority as captain at all times, as well as the art of making grand promises.
Of course, promises could be made, but they had to be truly fulfilled.
Otherwise, why would the crew risk their lives for him?
...
And so, after a period of tense anticipation...
"Captain, that spaceship is about to enter the trap."
Inside the spaceship hidden within this starry realm, the crew suppressed their excitement as they reported to Captain Valor.
"Everyone, be prepared, and make sure to act swiftly."
Captain Valor's expression was solemn. Despite having dozens of crew members and a medium-sized battleship, caution was still paramount.
Moreover, for some reason, Captain Valor couldn't shake off a sense of unease this time.
Swish!
In the distant sky, a streak of light swiftly approached.
Exceeding the speed of light, even before the light arrived, the spaceship had already entered this area.
"Hmm? An ambush?"
Sensing the change in the surrounding space, Peter instantly understood that there must be an ambush nearby.
At this moment, he could easily break through the spatial blockade and leave this place directly.
"How interesting. I want to see who dares to rob me!"
However, Peter didn't act rashly. Instead, he slowly stopped in this space.
Suddenly, a huge spaceship slowly appeared above Peter.
Several fierce cannons gathered violent energy in their muzzles.
It seemed as though a single shot could blast this small spaceship to smithereens!
"Cough... Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Valor, and I belong to the notorious Raider Legion in the universe."
"The spaceship in front of us, listen up. You've been surrounded. Please disarm yourselves immediately and let our crew take over your ship. The Raider Legion seeks only wealth, not harm."
"But if you dare to resist, our energy cannons won't show any mercy!"
In front of the spaceship, Courage looked down through the front window of the spaceship, his face filled with pride as he slowly spoke.
At this moment, his inner worries had completely disappeared.
After all, such a small spaceship probably could only accommodate two or three people at most.
How could it possibly stand against his entire Raider Legion?
"Captain, there... seems to be... no one inside the spaceship!"
"How is that possible?"
Instantly, everyone's expressions changed.
"A spaceship without a pilot... Could it be the legendary ghost ship of the universe?"
At this moment, they couldn't help but recall the ancient legends circulating in the universe.
However, the scene before them quickly overturned their speculation.
But it also left them even more shocked.
They saw a figure suddenly floating out from beneath the small spaceship, traversing the universe, and appearing outside their spaceship's window.
Looking down at them with an air of authority, the figure slowly spoke with a commanding voice.
"Unfortunately, it's now my turn to rob you!"
Even without an audio transmission device, the voice still clearly reached their ears through the spaceship.
