[Superman] Chapter 99: Loki's Conquest of Jotunheim
🕑 Added 2024-03-09 04:24:22 +0000 UTCOne of the Nine Realms, the territory inhabited by the Frost Giants, Jotunheim.
Cold, dim, desolate, and dilapidated, these were the prevailing features of this unique planet.
And today, upon the previously quiet Jotunheim, a group of unexpected visitors suddenly arrived.
A massive spacecraft descended from the sky above Jotunheim.
Accompanied by a beam of light shining down from the spacecraft onto the dim Jotunheim, three figures suddenly appeared on the ground.
Among the three, the one standing at the forefront was the elegant Loki.
Behind him, followed a slender figure and a massive figure.
"General Executioner, please wait here for a moment and await my orders..."
Looking at the frozen and dilapidated stone forest ahead, Loki's lips curled into a slight smirk, then he said to the slender figure behind him wielding a blade.
"Hmph..."
Obviously, the General Executioner looked down on Loki, but as he was sent by Thanos to assist Loki in invading Earth, he could only obey Loki's orders for now.
"General Black Dwarf, please come in with me."
Ignoring the disdain of the General Executioner towards him, Loki beckoned to the massive Black Dwarf and slowly walked into the frozen and dim palace.
"Frost Giants, you will be the first step in my conquest of Midgard..."
Putting away the somewhat sinister smile on his face, Loki looked at the dim palace not far away, his eyes flashing with a cunning light.
Thunk thunk...
Sensitive senses allowed Loki and Black Dwarf to hear occasional sounds around them.
"Phew!"
Beside him, Black Dwarf carried a special weapon resembling a huge axe or sickle, seemingly eager to root out the suspicious characters lurking around them.
"General Black Dwarf, calm down. There will be a chance for you to vent your anger later!"
While soothing Black Dwarf, Loki slowly walked into the frozen and dim palace.
"Respected King of the Frost Giants, Laufey, I am Loki from Asgard..."
Loki shouted loudly, but paused for a moment when mentioning Asgard.
"What did you say? Invade Midgard?!"
Suddenly, from the throne in the darkness, a figure stood up abruptly, asking incredulously.
"Yes, it's a joint attack on Midgard."
Looking at the King of the Frost Giants, Loki bowed respectfully.
"Are you really from Asgard? It doesn't seem like it? Haven't you always been preventing us from invading Midgard? If it wasn't for you last time, we would have already conquered the entire Midgard!"
Laufey suddenly became very angry. The war to invade Midgard last time failed because of Asgard's intervention.
"And, as far as I know, your Asgardian king, the father of the gods, Odin, died not long ago, the Nine Realms are now full of chaos, and even Asgard was completely destroyed due to the Twilight of the Gods."
"And you, how did you survive?"
Laufey's yellow pupils stared closely at Loki.
"Oh, I see, you're a coward who fled, aren't you? Hahaha..."
Suddenly, Laufey's face showed a mocking smile.
"What? Father is dead? Even Asgard, destroyed?"
Hearing this news, Loki's face showed a strong expression of sadness, his eyes filled with disbelief.
...
"The reason for all of this happening is because of that human from Midgard."
"I, Loki, swear that one day I will personally destroy Midgard, and let those damn humans endure pain a hundred, a thousand, a million times stronger than what I feel now!"
With a sorrowful expression on his face, Loki's eyes also shimmered with intense anger and hatred.
He blamed everything on the humans of Earth.
He vowed to make all the humans on Earth pay the price for it.
"So, great King of the Frost Giants, can you now understand why I have rotated to join forces with your people to attack Midgard?"
Truly the god of mischief, Loki, even upon hearing news that saddened and shocked him beyond measure, could still, at this moment, rely on his wit to turn the situation into a more favorable trend for himself.
Choosing revenge against Earth for his homeland and father seemed more convincing than what he had said before.
"Oh? It seems you're not just a fleeing coward, but also someone who understands restraint and cunning."
However, as the king of the Frost Giants, Laufey, naturally wouldn't be easily fooled by Loki.
"You previously said that you came under the guidance of the cosmic overlord, Thanos."
"But as far as I know, Thanos possesses immense power and a formidable legion that terrifies any planet in the universe."
"With his own power and legion, he could easily destroy Earth."
"And yet, you still come to me now to cooperate? Is it because there's something on Earth that terrifies you to such an extent?"
"Only by choosing to cooperate with us do you have a chance of winning... or perhaps you're not here under Thanos's command at all."
Laufey paused for a moment, his cold gaze fixed on Loki, then spoke again.
"Or perhaps, your true purpose is to make our Frost Giant clan serve as cannon fodder for your invasion of Midgard!"
At this moment, Laufey almost roared with anger.
"You..."
Loki's face was full of astonishment, seemingly confirming Laufey's speculation even more.
...
"Frost Giant warriors, kill them!"
The next moment, Laufey roared without hesitation!
"Kill them!"
Instantly, accompanied by countless responsive voices around them, numerous Frost Giant figures suddenly appeared and surrounded Loki and Black Dwarf.
"Roar!"
Casting a disdainful glance at Loki beside him, as if to say your scheme is really clumsy.
Then Black Dwarf roared, grabbing the massive weapon on his shoulder and charging straight towards the surrounding Frost Giants.
Boom!
After all, as one of Thanos's subordinates, Black Dwarf possessed immense power.
With just one strike, he sent a group of massive Frost Giants flying, smashing the surrounding towering rocks into pieces.
"Kill them!"
The Frost Giants were also instantly enraged, rushing towards Black Dwarf and Loki fearlessly.
"Damn it..."
Loki's face was full of panic, as if he couldn't believe things would develop like this.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Instantly, both sides were embroiled in a thrilling battle.
The Frost Giants had the ability to control ice and formidable physical prowess.
But in the face of the powerful Black Dwarf, they were still somewhat lacking.
Swinging his weapon, Black Dwarf could send several Frost Giants flying with each blow.
In just a few seconds, the surrounding Frost Giants had already been cleared by him.
However, at this moment, countless more Frost Giants were rushing from all directions, hundreds of them, and they would soon completely surround them.
Although Black Dwarf seemed not very intelligent, only relying on brute strength in a fight.
But now, he instantly found a way to solve the dilemma.
That was Laufey, the king of the Frost Giants.
With his massive weapon, Black Dwarf threw it without hesitation towards Laufey on the throne.
Clang!
The chain restraining the weapon rattled.
"You damn bastard!"
Black Dwarf not only possessed immense strength but also threw the weapon at incredible speed.
Too fast for Laufey to dodge.
He could only use his ability to control frost to quickly condense into an ice shield in front of him.
Crack!
However, the powerful force directly shattered the newly formed ice shield.
Fortunately, it bought Laufey some time to evade.
Boom!
However, while the weapon didn't hit Laufey, who had dodged, it struck the throne behind him, shattering it into pieces.
"What a bunch of useless fools, kill them!"
Seeing his throne destroyed, Laufey was filled with anger, roaring at the other Frost Giants.
Roar!
All the Frost Giants roared and charged fearlessly at Black Dwarf once again.
Meanwhile, Laufey's gaze turned towards Loki, who was struggling to fend off the attacks from the Frost Giants.
"It's this damn Asgardian who made me lose the glory of being a king."
Angry, Laufey rushed towards Loki.
Layers of ice quickly formed on his arm, turning into sharp ice spikes.
Loki wielded two daggers, struggling to resist the Frost Giants' attacks.
After repelling one Frost Giant, he suddenly felt a chill behind him.
The next moment, he turned around hastily, attempting to defend himself.
"No!"
But he was too slow.
Under Black Dwarf's furious gaze, Laufey pierced Loki's chest with ice directly.
"Haha, weak Asgardian, die!"
Laufey lifted Loki's pierced body, flaunting his power.
Roar!
The surrounding Frost Giants also roared to the sky, seemingly celebrating the king's victory.
...
"Hmph, the might of Asgardians, you will never understand!"
Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed from behind Laufey.
"How is this possible?"
Watching as the body he pierced was slowly disappearing, Laufey's eyes were filled with disbelief.
"And you were right before, I am indeed cunning and deceitful, far beyond your imagination."
"Because I am none other than the most powerful in the Nine Realms— the God of Mischief!"
As Laufey turned abruptly, intending to kill Loki once again, Loki in golden armor appeared with a golden spear in hand.
To Laufey's astonished gaze, the spear emitting a blue light touched his body.
Suddenly, a powerful mental force entered Laufey's body, instantly seizing his consciousness.
"Great master, your humble servant, Laufey, King of the Frost Giants, will forever obey your commands!"
In the incredulous eyes of all the Frost Giants, Laufey knelt slowly, showing his submission to Loki.
"Rise, humble servant."
"And you are no longer the king of the Frost Giants!"
"Now, I am your king!"
"So, kneel before me!"
Loki slammed the Mind Scepter into the ground, causing the entire earth to tremble.
In the sky, countless bright lights illuminated the dim palace.
All the Frost Giants were horrified to find a massive spaceship had appeared above them, and around them, numerous figures with flying devices and energy guns had completely surrounded them.
Gradually, one Frost Giant couldn't help but kneel towards Loki.
And then, the rest of the Frost Giants followed suit, all kneeling to welcome their new ruler.
"Midgard's humans, cherish the last moments of your existence!"
Loki's gaze turned towards the stars, a hint of sadness flashing in his eyes. But the next moment, they were consumed by icy hatred.
...
