[Genshin Impact] Chapter 92: The Hilichurl Camp
🕑 Added 2024-02-29 17:19:21 +0000 UTCHerman gave Ellin a long list of cautions and reminders. Only when Ellin couldn't take it anymore and ran off towards the city gates did Nolan and Fischl finally set off together.
Leaving Herman behind sighing as he watched their figures depart.
The journey ahead was quite long. The place where the survey team was robbed by Hilichurls was at the furthest outskirts of Starfell Valley near the beach.
They had to pass through the Whispering Woods and Starfall Lake along the way, and then walk a long distance to reach their destination.
Because the real Teyvat continent was much larger than the scaled-down version in the game, traveling on foot generally took most of the day.
If the commission went smoothly they might make it back before nightfall. If trouble occurred they'd have to camp overnight, which was common for adventurers.
On the Mondstadt Bridge, people came and went. Many cargo carriages transported goods.
To avoid blocking others, Nolan and the others walked on one side, with Ellin leading the way as the employer. A group of white doves landed on the stone railing of the bridge.
The birds pecked at the grains scattered on the railing, accurately swallowing them one by one—a young boy was feeding them.
As they approached recklessly, the doves were startled and flew away, which ultimately drew an angry glare from the young boy!
The three of them smiled politely and apologized.
After crossing the Mondstadt Bridge and continuing along the main road, the boots of the two girls ahead lightly kicked up some dust from the ground.
The asymmetric black stockings worn by Fischl revealed a hint of her snow-white skin, adding a touch of mystery and allure compared to Ellin, who was wearing shorts, revealing her legs.
Since they were on the main road, they didn't encounter any monsters in the Whispering Woods, but they did encounter two small Cryo Slimes at Starfall Lake.
Though both small-types, he somehow felt Cryo Slimes were tougher than Hydro Slimes.
When he first crossed over, Nolan might not have dared to face Cryo Slimes. After all, their bodies made of Cryo elements were extremely cold.
Attacking them bare-handed might result in getting frostbite.
Pyro and Electro Slimes had similar properties, while Geo Slimes were just hard. Dendro Slimes could hide in the ground. It seemed like only Hydro Slimes were relatively easy to bully.
Nolan glanced at the eager Ellin and smiled, "What do you think? Want to give it a try?"
"Yes, please let me handle them!" Ellin replied resolutely.
She no longer had a wooden training sword at her waist but a Dull Blade similar to Nolan's. This type of sword was popular because it was durable and relatively cheap.
"Miss Ellin, go ahead. We'll watch the surroundings for you." Oz fluttered his night-colored wings and said.
"Mm."
Ellin drew the dull blade from its sheath and cautiously approached the two Cryo Slimes in the lake. When she got within a certain range they did become hostile as expected.
They hopped towards her, freezing parts of the lake surface each time they leapt up then landed.
Ellin was clever not to fight them in the water. She steadily retreated, luring them back onto land.
It seemed Herman had properly imparted his daughter with knowledge and skills to deal with common monsters.
Elemental creatures like Slimes naturally had an advantage in their element. After all if Ellin got wet she'd be easily frozen by the Cryo Slimes.
Choosing a battlefield favorable to oneself was crucial.
Ellin has an adventurer father who, in terms of various adventure experiences and knowledge, might know more than Nolan, but lacks some practical experience.
So, in this battle, Ellin didn't really need guidance from him and Fischl. She kept a safe distance from the two small Cryo Slimes and used the advantage of her weapon to easily defeat them with agile dodges and movements.
From her sword movements, it was clear that her foundation was solid, not disappointing her diligent practice every day.
Looking at the two Cryo Slimes she defeated completely on her own, Ellin's face lit up with excitement as she said, "Nolan, Miss Fischl, Mr. Oz, look! I successfully defeated them!"
"Hmph hmph~ Not bad at all!" Fischl flicked back her golden hair, briefly revealing a glimpe of white ears hidden within.
"Miss Ellin has outstanding courage and nimble movements. You will surely become an excellent knight defending Mondstadt in the near future!"
The night raven Oz praised generously.
"Hehe... Of course! My dream is to one day fight alongside amazing knights like Master Jean!"
Ellin was extremely satisfied.
"Much better than my first slime encounter! Okay, let's collect the dropped slime condensate and keep going."
Nolan felt Ellin's performance was far more decisive than his own first hydro slime fight.
At least she didn't end up a mess.
"Mm, let's go!" Ellin nodded happily.

...
The three of them left Starfall Lake and continued along the main road until they reached the location where the gathering team was robbed by the Hilichurls. It was already noon, and there were two members of the gathering team waiting there.
"Are you the adventurers who took the commission?" The two members of the gathering team rushed over and asked.
"Yes, gentlemen may I ask what the current situation is?"
The night raven Oz nodded in midair and asked.
Their commission slip only stated that a gathering team was robbed by a Hilichurl Berserker leading five normal Hilichurls that morning, near the beach of Starfell Valley.
The gathering team then sent a commission request via carrier pigeon. By the time Nolan's group arrived, over half a day had passed. They didn't know the circumstances now.
"Phew, you've finally arrived!" one of the gathering team members said, "Our captain followed the traces of the Hilichurls to their camp to prevent losing track of them. Follow me quickly!"
"Oh? You've already found them? It seems we're quite lucky. We thought we would need to come and search again," Nolan said, a little surprised.
"Well, Our team leader used to be an adventurer too. If not for the large number of Hilichurls, and that Berserker, they couldn't have robbed our collected specialties and wild fruits!"
Another member of the gathering team said indignantly.
In the industry of outdoor gathering, although it was not as dangerous as being an adventurer, one still needed some combat skills, or else it would be troublesome to encounter monsters unexpectedly.
"Hehe, in that case, lead the way for Princess and her attendants!" Fischl put her hands on her waist, slightly lifting her fair chin.
