[Superman] Chapter 87: The Universe Doomed to be Devoured? (2-in-1 Chapter))
🕑 Added 2024-02-25 13:33:07 +0000 UTC"Time, space, reality...
They are not fixed, presented one by one in a linear narrative.
Instead, like a prism, they possess infinite possibilities and futures.
A different choice can open up an infinite number of different realities.
Creating a multiverse radically different from everything you know...
I am the Watcher.
I will lead you, traversing the realities of these different universes, witnessing the birth and demise of each parallel universe...
Witness with me, in this remote and doomed-to-be-devoured universe.
Let's contemplate together.
What can those so-called heroes do, in this universe on the verge of destruction?"
...
At night, exhausted in body and mind, Stephen returned home.
After several days without proper rest, he finally relaxed his tense mind this time.
"Since rejecting it causes you so much pain, why not try to accept it?"
Without even taking a bath, Doctor Strange took off his clothes and lay on the soft and comfortable bed.
With his eyes almost unable to open, Stephen, about to fall into a dream, kept recalling the words of his therapist.
No one knew how long it had passed, perhaps just a moment.
Stephen's consciousness gradually fell into a state of sleep.
The next moment, his consciousness was pulled into a special bar.
"Welcome back, Doctor Stephen Strange."
Stephen, sitting in front of the bar counter, had not yet realized the situation at this moment.
A voice suddenly appeared behind him.
"Beer? Whiskey? Or tea?"
"Forget it, you choose for yourself."
Snap!
With a crisp snap of fingers, three different cups appeared instantly on the counter in front of Stephen.
"How about that? Have you decided what kind of choice you want to make, Doctor... Strange! Of course, I'm not talking about drinks."
Stephen had no mood to drink at this moment. He suddenly turned his head and saw a face identical to his own.
However, the attire of the two Stephens was different at this moment.
Stephen was in an expensive suit, with a precious watch on his wrist.
While the suddenly appeared other Stephen, was wearing a black robe with a conspicuous red cloak behind him.
"No, I don't want to be a hero who saves the universe. I just want to be a knowledgeable doctor and save more patients."
Even though he was mentally prepared, at this moment, Stephen couldn't easily choose to accept such absurd and crazy things as his therapist had said.
"Since you still refuse, then I'm sorry, you will once again experience the pain of falling into the abyss."
"But I have no other choice. Only in this way, can you leave here and return to your universe."
With the regretful voice of the other Stephen, Stephen found that his body had instantly appeared at the door.
Before him was a void, while beneath his feet was a bottomless abyss of darkness.
This scene was extremely familiar to him because he had experienced it dozens of times before.
But each time, he endured an incredibly intense sense of pain.
"Given the chance, I'd like to finish that drink first..."
...
Bang!
Accompanied by the familiar force behind him, his body suddenly fell out of this special bar, plummeting rapidly into the abyss below.
"No! Ah..."
"Another one who refuses me."
"I wonder who will come next, in a few hours? Or a few days..."
The other Stephen, who pushed Stephen into the abyss, seemed accustomed to such occurrences.
Slowly walking to the counter, he picked up the cup of tea from the three cups on the table and brought it slowly to his lips.
"No, I agree!"
The next moment, a voice came through the still-open door into his ears.
"That's great!"
Instantly, a kind of almost crazy smile appeared on his face.
Even above his eyebrows, at the center of his forehead, a bizarre eye suddenly appeared.
The next moment, his hands made a strange gesture.
Immediately after, a black energy turned into a black chain, instantly piercing through the door and into the endless abyss.
"Ah!"
With a cry of agony from far and near.
The Stephen who had fallen into the abyss was pulled back into the bar by the chain.
"I heard you say you agreed? You're not lying to me, are you!"
The other Stephen had returned to normal at this moment, and the other eye that had appeared on his forehead had disappeared at some point, as if everything was an illusion.
"Cough... I didn't... lie to you, I... accept you!"
The strong feeling of weightlessness made Stephen feel uncomfortable for a moment, but after taking a moment to calm down, he finally made up his mind and uttered his acceptance.
"In that case, things might get a bit crazy!"
As Stephen uttered his consent, the other Stephen in front of him suddenly became ecstatic.
His robes and cloak fluttered in an instant without any wind.
"Can I... change my mind?"
This situation made Stephen suddenly realize that he might have made a wrong decision.
"Sorry, once sold, no returns..."
The next moment, the other Stephen in front of him suddenly turned into a thick black mist.
Without preparation, that mist instantly enveloped Stephen's entire body.
The mist rushed into his body through every pore, and at that moment, Stephen completely lost consciousness, falling to the ground.
But just a few seconds later, his body suddenly stood up straight from the ground.
"This feeling, it's been a long time..."
The brand new Stephen slowly raised his powerful and steady hands, gripping and releasing them repeatedly.
"But now, it's time for me to become the hero who saves our universe!"
Suddenly, a massive energy caused the entire bar floating in the void to collapse instantly.
And as this special bar completely collapsed.
Stephen, who was sleeping, suddenly sat up from the luxurious bed.
"Hoo..."
He seemed to awaken from a nightmare, breathing rapidly for a few moments.
Then he slowly got out of bed, skillfully picked up a bottle of fine red wine from the liquor cabinet, poured a glass, and walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the bustling city in front of him.
"It's a pity, this universe is mine now!"
Slowly finishing the red wine in his hand, Stephen's gaze instantly sharpened. The next moment, a strange third eye suddenly appeared on his forehead.
...
Several days later, a colorful beam suddenly appeared in the sky. Accompanying the appearance of the colorful beam, there was also a figure.
"Wow? Who's that? Are aliens invading Earth?"
Someone looked at the scene above the city, full of shock.
"Heh, are you from a small town? Haven't even seen aliens? You're making a big deal out of nothing!"
Next to him, a longtime resident of New York, as if accustomed to such things, looked superior and knowledgeable.
Swoosh!
Soon, another figure streaked across the sky and almost instantly appeared in front of the previous figure.
"You again? Why are you here again? Are you trying to avenge your father?"
Peter stared at the figure in front of him, somewhat helpless. It seemed that this time, he had to make him experience true death.
"Sorry, Mr. Superman, I've come to Earth this time to ask for your help!"
However, the next moment, Thor sincerely pleaded with Peter.
"Oh, did the sun rise from the west today? You reckless guy, are you also willing to put down your pride and ask for help?"
At this moment, Peter couldn't help but be very curious. Thor, this reckless guy, actually had a day of seeking help.
"Sorry, Mr. Superman, I realize now that my previous actions were extremely reckless."
"In fact, the people of Midgard, like us from Asgard, are very much in favor of peace."
"Unfortunately, it wasn't until recently that I realized this."
Thor's face showed an apologetic expression.
"Don't rush to apologize. What you're asking me for now isn't to help you defeat your sister, is it?"
At this moment, Peter suddenly remembered Thor's sister, who was about to break the seal.
"You also know her?"
At this moment, Thor couldn't help but look at Peter with some surprise. How did this human know, when he, Odin's biological son, only learned about his sister after his father's death?
"You tell me, is it?"
"No, Mr. Superman, I'm not asking you to help me defeat my sister together."
"I just hope that you can allow us people from Asgard to migrate to Midgard and rebuild a new homeland for our Asgardian people here."
After becoming the king of Asgard and thinking about problems from the people's perspective, Thor's recklessness and fierceness were obviously greatly diminished.
Before, he would never have requested help from his former enemy for something like this.
"This matter... seems not to be under my jurisdiction. As long as you're not here to provoke me, then go ahead..."
Peter naturally didn't bother with such trivial matters and disappeared instantly.
"Wait..."
Thor wanted to stop him, but it was too late.
"Then who should I go to for this matter?"
Floating above the city, Thor couldn't help but feel very confused at this moment.
The first time he appeared on Earth as an ambassador of Asgard, it seemed to end in failure.
"Forget it, go find that bald jerk. It's your first time coming to Earth, and you almost killed him."
Just as Thor looked confused, a voice suddenly entered his ears, pointing him in the right direction.
"Thank you, Mr. Superman, from now on, you are the closest ally of Asgard."
Excited, Thor expressed his gratitude to the void.
However, after a while, he fell into confusion again: "I remember that bald guy, but now, where should I find him?"
...
In the end, Thor successfully found Nick Fury.
And he explained his intentions.
"What? All of Asgard wants to move to Earth to live?"
At this moment, even Nick Fury, who had witnessed countless major events, couldn't help feeling absurd.
A guy who called himself a god, instead of living in his own realm, wanted to move to their mortal kingdom.
This was like a wealthy person in a first-tier city having mansions and courtyards but choosing to live in a remote village with mud houses, which was unimaginable.
"Yes, we're preparing to move to Midgard. Can you approve?"
Facing Nick Fury again, Thor's position had undergone a huge change.
Formerly a lofty god, he was now just a poor creature wanting to take refuge.
"I can't give you an answer right now. You have to understand that Earth doesn't belong to me alone, and you are a godly kingdom with powerful forces."
"I have to consider the other countries on Earth..."
Nick Fury looked embarrassed.
The underlying message was, if you want to move to Earth, it's possible, but... it'll cost you.
"Well, tell me, what do we need to give if we agree to move to Earth?"
Thor, no longer a reckless man, slowly spoke up.
"As for the conditions, let's discuss them later. I need to get the consent of other countries first..."
"This may be a bit troublesome, unless..."
Nick Fury still looked troubled, indicating that even if he could propose conditions freely, this matter would still be difficult to handle.
"Unless what?"
"Unless you can get that person's consent, then we can talk about it..."
"Great, it's him who sent me to find you!"
Excitedly, Thor said.
"In that case, everything will be much easier."
At this moment, Nick Fury finally smiled. Without Superman's consent, he didn't dare to act on his own in this matter.
...
On the other side, a luxurious sports car suddenly drove into a remote town.
"Here we are."
Stephen, dressed in a luxurious suit, slowly got out of the car.
Then he looked at an ordinary house nearby, his eyes filled with longing.
"Superman from the comics actually exists? This universe is really crazy enough."
Thinking this, Stephen walked towards the ordinary house.
He politely knocked on the door but found no one inside.
However, Stephen didn't leave. Instead, he used a simple magic spell to unlock the door and walked in slowly.
Inside the room, Stephen walked straight to a basement entrance, then used magic again to open the seemingly long-sealed iron door, and then slowly walked into the dark basement.
Clang!
As soon as he entered the basement, the door behind him closed instantly.
And a strange black rune suddenly appeared on it. The next moment, the iron door disappeared from Stephen's sight.
"Who's there? A fledgling mage dares to come here and provoke the most powerful witch in the world?"
Suddenly, a woman dressed in witch attire slowly emerged from the darkness, her voice full of ridicule as she spoke to Stephen.
"Sorry, the most powerful witch in the world? That will never be you. You may not have experienced the true power of the Scarlet Witch..."
Stephen looked calm as he faced the suddenly appearing witch and spoke slowly.
"What? The Scarlet Witch? How is that possible?! You're not just a simple mage, who are you exactly?"
Hearing the title of the Scarlet Witch, the woman's face changed drastically, seeming incredulous.
"Agatha Harkness, a witch who has survived for almost a thousand years."
"But unfortunately, you'll never know the true power contained in the Darkhold!"
...
