[Genshin Impact] Chapter 207: Akai Maou
🕑 Added 2024-07-15 15:59:41 +0000 UTCIn Dihua Marsh.
Walking on the dirt road, a gentle breeze brushed past.
The white ribbon on the blonde girl’s scarf fluttered lightly, like cattails on a riverbank swaying in the wind.
"Oh, look, isn't that the Grumpy Little Sister' and her senior brother from earlier?"
Paimon crossed her arms, causing slight wrinkles on her sleeves, and pointed out the two figures sitting by the shore.
"They seem to be fishing. Should we go over and say hi?" Lumine glanced at Nolan with her amber eyes.
After all, those disciples from the Guhua Clan had lent a hand in rescuing that boy Zhao Bing.
It would be good to inform them that the boy had safely returned to his father.
"Maybe we should just leave it. That Hotheaded Junior Sister doesn't seem too friendly," Nolan hesitated, not keen on dealing with someone with a bad temper.
"Uh, it seems a bit late, they've already noticed us," Paimon pointed ahead with her finger.
Sun Yu was waving at them.
"It seems there's no way out, let's go over there."
"Looks like we have no choice but to go over," Lumine lightly tapped her fair cheek with her palm, nodded towards them, and walked over.
"Sigh, alright," Nolan sighed helplessly.
If they hadn't been noticed, they could have quietly slipped away.
But now that they had been spotted and greeted, it would seem rude to just walk off.
Resigned, Nolan and the others walked towards Sun Yu and his junior sister.
"Sun Yu, and ''Grumpy Little Sister,' what brings you two here?" Paimon shrugged, looking puzzled.
“Who are you calling grumpy, you ‘Wild Monster’!”
Before Sun Yu could answer, Little Que’er erupted, clearly infuriated by the nickname directed at her.
“I’ve told you, Paimon is Paimon, not some ‘Wild Monster,’ you annoying 'Grumpy Little Sister'!"
Paimon glared at Little Que’er, firing back without hesitation.
Seeing the two about to start arguing, Lumine and Sun Yu quickly pulled their respective sides back.
"I'm sorry, my junior sister is a bit short-tempered, but she is also a good person who often helps others, so please forgive her."
Sun Yu clasped his hands together and said with a bitter smile.
Nolan laughed heartily and said, "Haha, no worries at all, we didn't take it to heart."
That being said, it was quite interesting to watch Paimon and Little Que’er argue.
“Phew, thank you,” Sun Yu nodded, then got to the main point of why he had stopped them. “Earlier, because of my junior sister’s temper tantrum, we didn’t see what happened next. Is that boy safe now?”
"Heh heh, that's for sure, by Ben Paimon and Traveler, uh."
“Hehe, of course! With Paimon and the Traveler on the case, uh...” Paimon looked at Nolan, as if remembering something, and continued, “And this guy too. The boy has been safely returned to his father, and the kidnappers have been brought to justice!”
"That's good to hear!"
Sun Yu nodded, then responded to Paimon's earlier question with a smile:
“It’s almost noon. My junior sister and I were fishing here to prepare for lunch. Would you like to try the special grilled fish recipe handed down by our ‘GuHua Clan’ ancestors?”
“What! Special grilled fish! Paimon wants some! Paimon wants some!”
As soon as Paimon heard about the delicious food, she immediately got excited and agreed without even asking Nolan and Lumine's opinion.
Both Nolan and Lumine shot her a look of exasperation.
"...Little glutton."
Little Que’er, standing behind Sun Yu with her arms crossed, huffed disdainfully.
“Alright, junior sister, go back to fishing and calm yourself,” Sun Yu commanded with the authority of a senior disciple.
In response, Little Que’er had no choice but to obediently return to her fishing.
Afterwards, The group then set up a campfire, burning some charcoal to prepare for grilling the fish. Nolan and Lumine took out some pre-prepared boiled water and dried food.
After a long time, when the charcoal and fish were ready to be processed.
After a while, when the charcoal and fish were ready, they suddenly heard Little Que’er shout, “Senior Brother, come quickly! I think I’ve caught something big!”
Nolan and the others turned to look at her.
Little Que’er was holding a fishing rod made of green bamboo. The transparent fishing line was taut, bending the rod as it extended into the river, even pulling Little Que’er towards the water.
But how could that be possible?
Despite her temper, she was quite strong for an ordinary person.
Nolan saw that she was at level sixteen. What kind of fish could have the strength to pull her like that?
They quickly ran over to see what was happening. Sun Yu joined Little Que’er in pulling the rod, and it seemed like the line was about to snap.
"It's the Akai Maou!" Nolan said, surprised as he saw the faint silhouette in the water.
He recognized it from the game’s fishing system. When it first launched, he had fished daily to exchange for weapons until there were no fish left. Thus, he had seen this very distinctive red fish at many fishing spots.
“This water bully... looks like we’ll have to give up, junior sister. Our fishing line isn’t strong enough,” Sun Yu said with a sigh, slightly surprised upon hearing Nolan's words and recalling the fish’s ferocious nature.
"Damn it!"
Little Que'er was disappointed, but noticed her brother's hand on the rod with hers, which gave her a little secret joy.
“Senior Brother, I think we should keep pulling. Maybe it’ll tire out suddenly,” she suggested.
“Uh, sure, why not,” Sun Yu replied, unaware of his junior sister’s thoughts.
"Wow, this red fish looks fierce, and it also looks delicious. Nolan, why don't you shoot it with your bow?" Paimon, flying in mid-air, blinked and suggested.
“That’s no problem,” Nolan nodded. Using his Golden Eye of Judgement, he observed that the fish was at level twelve, seemingly stronger than an untrained ordinary person.
Even a small-fry count, he thought, not wanting to waste the offered Adventure EXP.
He took out his Adventurer's Hunting Bow, aimed at the Red Fish, and with a swift "whoosh," he shot an arrow.
The ordinary arrow accurately pierced its head, mixing its bright red blood into the river, ending its troublesome life in the water.
【Defeated A Powerful Enemy, Obtained 42 Adventure EXP.】
"Oh? Brother Nolan's archery skills are quite good," Sun Yu remarked, somewhat surprised to see him easily hit the hidden Akai Maou beneath the river.
He had thought Nolan was focused on practicing melee combat with his large sword and hadn't expected his archery to be so sharp.
"Hmph, if Senior Brother had a bow and arrow, he could do it too," Little Que’er said dismissively.
By Now, Everyone was used to her personality.
Paimon had wanted to argue but thought better of it. Eating was more important.
She turned to Sun Yu and said, "Quick, pull it up. Otherwise, the blood in the fish meat will dry up, and it won't taste good."
"Alright."
Just as Sun Yu nodded and prepared to lift the Akai Maou up to the surface of the river with his junior sister,
A huge black figure suddenly leaped from the river, splashing water on the clothes of the people near the riverbank. It opened its huge mouth and snapped the fishing line, swallowing the Akai Maou whole.
Then, it sank back into the river and swiftly swam upstream.
