[Superman] Chapter 160: Gateway to the Infinite Universe
🕑 Added 2024-06-23 05:10:29 +0000 UTC"Of course, I've been looking forward to this moment!"
Magneto gazed at the gradually enlarging faint red sphere of a universe before everyone, his eyes shimmering with anticipation and excitement.
It had been several months since he inexplicably arrived in this unfamiliar universe. Now, he finally had the opportunity to return to his original home. How could his heart not be filled with excitement, even though it might expose him to unknown dangers?
"A brave choice!"
Rocket looked at Magneto with admiration. After a nod from Peter beside him, without hesitation, he directly inputted the corresponding universe number and spatial coordinates into the device.
As soon as the universe coordinates were entered, the projected universe before everyone began to rapidly enlarge.
Everyone's gaze swiftly traversed through this vast universe, crossing endless starry skies, finally coming to a halt above the blue planet within the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy.
"Is this... Earth in another universe? It doesn't seem much different from our own Earth..."
"Could there be another version of us up there, also striving to explore the existence of other universes?"
Infinite universes meant infinite possibilities. The people present, looking at the familiar Earth in another universe, were filled with curiosity and anticipation.
"The universe coordinates have been established. Shall we immediately establish a stable cosmic channel?"
Although the final coordinates were only precise to an entire planet within the other universe, they were as precise as possible for inter-universal coordinates.
However, Reed wasn't overly excited about successfully pinpointing Earth in another universe. He kept a close eye on the information displayed on the device to ensure everything was functioning properly.
"This is my former home. I can finally go back!"
Magneto stared at the Earth, which inexplicably felt familiar, his excitement palpable. He could no longer maintain his composure; his eyes were filled with impatience as he looked towards Peter.
"Let's begin establishing the cosmic channel."
Feeling Magneto's urgent and excited gaze, Peter nodded without hesitation towards Reed.
"A cosmic channel spanning universes is now being established. The lab is entering complete lockdown mode, backup energy systems are initializing..."
With Peter's approval, Reed took a deep breath. Unable to contain his excitement any longer, after ensuring everything was in order, he pressed the button to initiate the cosmic channel.
In the next moment, the entire laboratory was sealed off by a nearly meter-thick vibranium enclosure. Above the vibranium, an almost tangible energy shield materialized, impervious even to nuclear explosions, ensuring no harm could come to the laboratory.
Simultaneously, the lab's space was firmly locked, preventing anyone with teleportation devices or other special abilities from entering or leaving this special laboratory.
Furthermore, the entire lab activated its independent power supply to ensure everything operated smoothly.
In short, at this moment, as they were about to open a spacetime channel connecting two universes, no amount of caution felt excessive.
Every measure enacted now was to ensure the laboratory was completely cut off from the outside world. It protected everyone and everything inside the lab while also preventing any threats from inside the lab from reaching the outside world.
Moreover, the lab housed a hidden self-destruct system. If no one manually disarmed it within a few hours, the lab would immediately self-destruct, hurling everything within it into the chaotic streams of space-time beyond the universe.

*Chapter 161: The Stargate to Infinite Universes*
Despite the rigorous and even stringent defensive measures, some of the scientists in the laboratory at this moment felt a tinge of fear.
It felt as if the cosmic gateway about to open could lead to dangerous and unknown circumstances.
However, as they looked towards Peter standing not far away in front of them, they quickly pushed aside this sense of crisis.
If a crisis arose that not even Superman could resolve, then they had no grounds to complain.
Buzzing!
Suddenly, as the entire laboratory was completely sealed, a sound of energy traversal swept through the entire lab.
Even those standing inside the lab felt as if they could sense immensely powerful energy rapidly flowing through the entire facility.
The next moment, as the energy continued to converge...
Not far from the people, a massive teleportation gate, originally discarded and stored in the warehouse, began to emit a faint blue glow.
The blue light grew brighter as the energy gathered.
In just a few seconds, it illuminated the entire laboratory.
At this moment, everyone had long forgotten to pay attention to these trivial matters.
They all stared wide-eyed, unblinking, at the faint glow gradually emerging within the blue light screen above the teleportation gate.
That faint glow seemed to lead to the distant universe beyond, crossing endless starry skies and traversing the void of the cosmos, connecting to another mysterious universe.
Swish!
Suddenly, that faint glow began to flow rapidly. Within it seemed to be countless dazzling stars, rushing past like the Milky Way in the eyes of everyone present.
Hum!
After a hum that filled everyone's ears...
The continuously flowing faint glow completely occupied the center of the entire teleportation gate.
The blue energy enveloped the mysterious faint glow, gradually stabilizing. However, with the naked eye, it was almost impossible to see where exactly it led.
"Congratulations, everyone. The spacetime channel linking Universe 838 has been successfully opened and is stabilizing. The channel is expected to remain stable for 34 minutes and 52 seconds. Please pass through before one minute to avoid being caught in temporal turbulence..."
"Please note, this constructed channel is one-way. Personnel preparing to pass through must..."
The universe teleportation gate, infused with mysterious faint light, was successfully constructed without incident.
It could last for approximately half an hour, enough time for anyone to pass through the spacetime channel to Universe 838.
Of course, to avoid unforeseen circumstances, this channel was constructed to consume less energy and was relatively easy to open.
It also ensured that beings from the other universe would not discover and use the channel to invade their laboratory.
"Can this really take me back to my universe immediately?"
Magneto, who had been eagerly anticipating returning to his homeland, felt a moment of hesitation at this crucial moment.
Perhaps the overly smooth construction of the channel to another universe made him feel somewhat unreal.
"Don't worry. This was constructed with my genius, the greatest in the universe. There can't possibly be any accidents."
Facing Magneto's skepticism, Rocket expressed confidently.
"Well, I trust you all!"
At this moment, Magneto's solemn expression gradually relaxed.
How could he, who had eagerly awaited returning to his homeland, choose to retreat at the last moment?
The next moment, without hesitation, he stepped towards the teleportation gate not far away, shimmering with faint light like the ever-moving starry sky.
Others watched with anticipation or concern.
They waited for this historic moment to unfold before their eyes.
"Thank you for everything during this time!"
Suddenly, as Magneto was about to enter the teleportation gate, he turned to Peter and expressed his gratitude.
"Hopefully, we'll have the chance to meet again!"
After bidding farewell, Magneto turned without hesitation and walked directly into the mysterious starry teleportation gate.
The next moment, he felt an irresistible force pulling his body, swiftly shuttling through a special passage.
He could even see the dazzling stars flashing past around him.
He seemed to transform into a streak of light traversing the universe, heading towards the end of the cosmos.
It was unknown how long had passed—whether it was a mere moment or billions of years—suddenly, a brilliant light like a starburst bloomed before his eyes.
After passing through that bright light, he instantly appeared in a strange place.
He was high above, surrounded by gently flowing white clouds, and beneath his feet stretched an endless sea.
At the far end of the sea was a city that felt very familiar to him.
"I actually made it back!"
Looking at the city on the coastline, feeling the familiar Earth atmosphere, Magneto steadied himself. Excitement and joy were written all over his face as he flew directly towards the familiar city in the distance.
...
Meanwhile, everyone in the laboratory remained silent.
Watching Magneto's figure disappear into the starry teleportation gate, no one was sure if this meant the experiment had succeeded.
Until a voice rang in everyone's ears:
"Target successfully passed through, arriving near the designated universe coordinate planet. Energy consumption at 13%, channel stability time remaining 28 minutes 45 seconds. Personnel needing to pass, please do so promptly..."
"Wonderful, it actually worked!"
"Oh my God, we just witnessed history..."
At this moment, everyone present felt immensely excited.
Even as top scientists on Earth, they had never imagined witnessing the historic moment of humanity opening the door to the multiverse with their own eyes.
"Alright, let's close this teleportation gate first."
"Make sure to collect all the data and information from just now."
Compared to the others' excitement, Peter remained much calmer, instructing Reed.
"Don't worry, sir, I've already made sure the system recorded all the information from the entire experiment..."
As a genius scientist, Reed naturally wouldn't forget to record the experimental data.
He then operated the multiverse device to close the channel connecting to the other universe.
Buzz!
As the energy was cut off, the mysterious cosmic channel instantly vanished.
"Not bad, it actually worked. Congratulations!"
Tony, who had observed the entire process of successfully opening the gateway to the multiverse, couldn't help but admire Reed and Rocket's genius, even with his pride.
"How about that? Didn't I tell you? I'm the greatest genius in the universe!"
Rocket proudly tilted his head, looking at Tony.
"Heh, not bad, but still just a bit short compared to me."
Tony naturally wouldn't concede so easily in terms of intellect.
"After watching your experiment, I've got a lot of inspiration too."
"Your technology is indeed advanced, but it's a bit too cumbersome. In my opinion, using magic would be a lot easier!"
Not only could technology open the door to the multiverse, but so could magic.
However, this required incredibly powerful magical abilities.
And the conditions for opening the portal weren't arbitrary; they required very stringent criteria.
"Still, someday, I'll be able to open the door to other multiverses even more easily than you."
Tony, with a proud wave, opened a portal beside him and returned to Kamar-Taj to continue his magical studies.
...
"Alright, forget about that guy. Can you guys open a new universe gateway as soon as possible?"
Peter ignored Tony's departure, instead watching Iceman who was already eager after Magneto successfully left, and calmly continued, "Mr. Superman, our energy levels are still high. We can completely support opening several new universe gateways!"
Reed responded without hesitation, which sparked anticipation in Iceman's expression.
Following the same process, they first located Iceman's universe and successfully established a connection to the target universe.
"Everyone, hope to see you again!"
Iceman didn't hesitate, walking excitedly into the gateway leading home.
Buzz!
As the gateway slowly closed, everyone present finally confirmed that they had mastered the groundbreaking technology to access infinite multiverse realities.
"You're not going to return to your own universe like them?"
Peter asked Wanda beside him, who seemed unmoved.
"No need. I feel perfectly fine living here with you all."
Wanda shook her head slowly, having nothing left to cherish in her original universe.
Peter didn't insist either. After going through a meticulous process to verify the lab's security systems, he successfully unlocked the lab's lockdown.
Soon, only Reed and Peter remained in the laboratory, marveling at the people who had rewritten cosmic history.
"Reed, you did an amazing job!"
Peter smiled warmly, praising Reed.
"Mr. Superman, I'm honored..."
Reed didn't refute Peter's praise.
"But this is just the beginning..."
However, Peter wasn't satisfied.
"Mr. Superman, what do you mean?"
Reed looked surprised, not understanding Peter's meaning.
"Our gaze shouldn't only be focused on these seemingly endless multiverses..."
"Beyond the multiverses similar to ours, there are more unknown special universes where even the rules and evolutionary history differ from our universe..."
Peter turned slowly, gazing out at the endless stars beyond the laboratory window.
"Sir, are you talking about those people who suddenly appeared in our universe last time?"
